NFL DRAFT: Wide receivers and tight ends
The Chiefs have obvious needs at cornerback and defensive line and wants at several other positions, most notably wide receiver.
It’s not a good year for them to be short a draft pick, which they are because they sent their fourth-round choice to New Orleans in last season’s trade for running back Michael Bennett.
Those six picks are fewer than the Chiefs have had since 2002, which was one of their lousier drafts. They had little margin for error but made them anyway when they picked defensive tackles Ryan Sims and Eddie Freeman in the first two rounds.
That’s why the Chiefs are offering in trades quarterback Trent Green, starting safety Greg Wesley, kick returner Dante Hall and even running back Larry Johnson.

Most of this board was only to happy to embrace Maurice Clarett 30 minutes after we drafted him, and were pining away for Ricky Bong Williams and TO as well.

Speaking of LJ I did read somewhere might have been espn but not sure, that the Chiefs could end up using an early round pick on an rb so Johnson doesn't have to have that many carries again. Eventhough I hate him and the Chiefs they do need to give him a rest every now and then or he will be run into the ground and done in a few years.
Maybe they will have Huard throw the ball 30-40x a game that should be fun seeing that with Champ and Bly on the field. ;D

Which has what to do with February?
He is a shock jock, but his reasoning makes sense with regard to the wear and tear on a back with this many carries. I could see a new coach deciding to shake things up and trade him at this time if the price were right.

I hope they keep him. They're obviously not going anywhere with him anyway and he's got a lot of miles on him the last couple of years. If they trade him they'll get young talent to plug holes with. This way they ride him into the ground for two more years and then get nothing of value in return when he's traded or walks. Edwards by that time will be well past the honeymoon and King Carla will be looking to find another coach. Maybe we'll see Marty back there again...LOL

Right now is really their only chance to trade him. They don't want to pay him a large contract, and after this year he will be a FA and can leave without compensation. He's also at the age where running backs begin to drop off and he just set the NFL record for carries in a season.
They could get pretty decent value for him now, as opposed to letting him leave in FA or pay a large contract to a player who is going to start declining.

This is true, but then we also have to figure in the fact that he doesn't seem to be well liked and there are some very solid rumors of a physical altercation between him and a member of the coaching staff.

Well it's possible he gets traded then, but KC fans would birth kittens if they see him leave. Besides, even if he's traded he's got to go to a team that considers itself to be a Superbowl contender lacking only a stud runner and one that thinks they have a two year window to win it. That will narrow the choices and limit the compensation to less than his real value I would think.
