seriously, I dont have audio at the workplace, anyone give me any updates on this? Video without audio is worthless.
Last thing my buddy told me was the guy was holed up in one of the buildings but no motive for why? I guess he really wanted to be on the next shuttle launch...

HOUSTON (AP) — A Johnson Space Center building was evacuated Friday after reports of a gunman inside, Houston police said.
Police were called about 1:40 p.m. for building 44, which houses communications and tracking development laboratory, news reports said.
Johnson Space Center security officers and Houston police, including a SWAT team, were dispatched to the scene.
NASA spokesman James Hartsfield said the building was "one of the smaller" office buildings on the JSC campus, where Mission Control is based.
He declined to speculate on how the person got a gun inside NASA security or his motives.
The identity of the armed man is not yet known.

It's a murder-suicide apparently...the gunman is a contractor working on the site. He busted in on a meeting, took two hostages, shot one and let the other go then offed himself...ABC news

Two miners killed in a fall in today too.
"Fragile are we.." Yoda.
I'm not discounting the mine's negligence if there was any. It could of been operator error by the dozer operator.
Things bother me more like the NASA killing(s).

HOUSTON - A NASA contract worker took a handgun inside an office building Friday at the Johnson Space Center and fatally shot a hostage before killing himself, police said. A second hostage escaped with minor injuries. The gunman shot himself once in the head more than three hours after barricading himself on the second floor of Building 44, which houses a laboratory.
The slain hostage was probably killed "in the early minutes of the whole ordeal," Houston Police Capt. Dwayne Ready said.
None of those involved were immediately identified.
The man was believed to be an employee of Jacobs Engineering, which has a technical support contract with NASA.
"We understand it is one of our employees," said John Prosser, the company's executive vice president.
Roads within the 1,600-acre campus were blocked off during the confrontation. A nearby middle school also kept its teachers and students inside as classes ended.
NASA employees and contract workers were kept informed of the situation by e-mail.
Christine Reichert, space station flight controller at the space center, said employees were initially told to stay in their buildings. That restriction was lifted a few hours later.
Michael Zolensky, who studies cosmic dust at the space center, said workers were gathered around a television watching news reports of the situation.
Doors to Mission Control were locked as standard procedure.
President Bush was informed about the gunman as he flew back to Washington from an event in Michigan, White House spokeswoman Dana Perino said.

My wife said today a sophmore at Ponderosa High here in Parker detonated an explosive device behind the high school and was arrested. Sorry this stuff is building and not something that has happened for thousands of years. The world continues to go more and more insane IMO.

My wife said today a sophmore at Ponderosa High here in Parker detonated an explosive device behind the high school and was arrested. Sorry this stuff is building and not something that has happened for thousands of years. The world continues to go more and more insane IMO.
It's perception and a lack of memory or understanding of history.
In 1780 BC Assyrians wiped out the whole of the cradle of civilization. Women were raped, children were murdered and the residue were sold into slavery. The same thing happened when Babylon wiped everyone out in 612, though not nearly as extensive. Persians, Romans - though they actually let the conquered vote, the ones who weren't slaves. People were fed to lions or made to kill each other for the entertainment of others.
Then there was the dark ages. Bandits or lords, depending on your view and who you worked for, would routinely rape and murder townspeople in their conquest of land. During the inquisition there were thousands of people who tortured and killed behind the veneer of religion. Then there was the masacre of the native Americans. WWI, WWII, Vietnam etc.
During the existence of man on Earth there have always been, rapists, murderers, pedophiles, thieves, organized crime, drug trafficking, slavery - you name it. This is nothing new and we really have it pretty good. I'm not saying what happened isn't terrible or that we shouldn't feel shock or remorse, but when people say "it's never been this bad" it's completely untrue on so many levels. After major negative events like these there are always "copycat" crimes by losers who spend all their time watching Fight Club and reading Karl Marx or Adolf Hitler. This too shall pass.
