Just a question.
Someone recently posted that we only had about 4.6 mil in cap room left. Many on the board have been begging for the Jenkins trade. Now, Sauerbrun looks like he's coming back.
How can any of this stuff fit? I thought Jenkins was about a 4 to 4.5 million dollar figure this year. Sauerbrun is something like $850,000. How can we do this? What about our draft picks?
It also seems like it will be difficult to move up for someone like Anderson, Carriker, or (dream) Willis. Will someone enlighten me on how any of this can happen?

The Broncos haven't decided yet what they are going to do with Al Wilson's contract. Whether to take the full hit this year or name him as a June 1st cut and take 1/3 this year and 2/3 next. We currently stand at $4.3m under the cap prior to the Terrell and Sauerbrun signings. Jenkins only carries a 2007 cap hit of $3.2m not $4.5m.
Not 100% sure on these numbers but if we take Wilson's full hit this year we save $1.6m, if we split it between this year and next we save $4-$5m. Legwold stated the Broncos haven't decided how they're going to work it yet that's why his release papers have not been given to the NFLPA as of Tuesday past. I'd presume they'll only take the big hit next year if they are indeed serious about acquiring another veteran via trade.

They always seem to make it work. They hire capologists to circumvent the cap. I wouldnt worry about it.

Can't we still cut Nate and Alexander to save more dough?

Cutting Jackson would only save peanuts, Alexander would save around $800k.

So if we defer Wilson's hit to next year we could afford Saurbuns, Jenkins and the rookies? From what I recall a lot of cap space has been shaved off for next year. That sounds like the way to go.

You could also guarantee the first yr (excepting the base pay) through bonus and it gets spread out trough the 3 yrs. However, if does not work out its dead money. But at least not too much
