So I decided to bite and make a mock draft composed of my favorite athletes assuming my favorites are available (within reason, of course.) I have two selections per pick for my first and second choice should my first not be available. Here it is:

bbbbbFirst ChoicebbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbSecond Choice

(1) 21. Jamaal Anderson (DE)bbbbbbJarvis Moss (DE)

(2) 56. Eric Weddle (SS)bbbbbbbbbbIkaika Alama-Francis (DE)

(3a) 70. Aundrae Allison (WR)bbbbbbRyan Harris (OT)

(3b) 86. Quinn Pitcock (DT)bbbbbbbYamon Figurs (WR)

(6a) 176. Anthony Waters (ILB)bbbbJohn Wendling (FS)

(6b) 198. Gabe Hall (OT)bbbbbbbbbbAdam Podlesh (P)

(7) 233. Sean Douglas (P/KOS)bbbbbKen Darby (RB)

First and second lists were designed to be also separate drafts in and of themselves as well, so I tried to have my second option be something I hadn't selected in the second option list. Hope you enjoy. I think all these players have potential to be pretty good or at least contribute at the next level. :)

I like the first, Figurs in the third would be a waste and there's no way Wendling and Darby last that long.

Allison is my baby, you can be the co-fatha.

If weddle isn't available in the second round you basically have us taking 2 x DEs in rounds 1 and 2 consecutively. I'm not too sure I can see that happening. I can see us taking multiple DTs but not multiple DEs.

Personally I think that the interior is a more glaring hole than the ends at the moment, and wether you agree with me or not I reckon that's probably the way the broncos see it as well.....just a hunch....

Still, I've rarely been able to come close to guessing what we will pick in previous years, and not getting to see a huge amount of college ball I can't really tell you anything about the guys outside of the top half of the first round so maybe I should just keep my mouth shut till the damn thing's over...... :-X

Quinn Pitcock is just the kind of player I'm hoping for out of this draft. Steady and solid if unspectacular, the kind of guy who plays hard and occasionally flashes a big play. I mean, sure, I'd love one or two impact players with All-Pro potential (Anderson @ DE; Nelson @ S), but I'll take a guy like Pitcock anyday.

Other than the Anderson pick in the 1st choice and the Alama-Francis pick in the 2nd choice, I don't like it very much at all.

Weddle is too slow to play CB too weak to play S. Not an upgrade over Cox or Abdullah. Allison is a huge project. I don't think Pitcock's skills translate to the NFL well. Waters will be gone way before the 6th, even with the ACL. I don't think Hall upgrades the depth on OL we already have, and a pick on a P is wasted even in the 7th.

I don't think Moss is passionate about football. I would much prefer Spencer or Johnson. Harris I could live with. Figurs is a huge reach in the 3rd. Wendling and Darby won't last to the 5th, let alone 6th.

Have you ever seen Eric Weddle play in a full game Dedhed?

Do you realize that Eric Weddle held the best player in this years draft to two catches for 19 yards in the 2006 Emerald Bowl? He played CB that whole game. Although, I agree I dont see him being a #1 or #2 CB in the NFL, definetly could play solid nickel.

With you're comments about him being weak, I know you've never seen him play a game.

Physically, Weddle has to gain some weight, and theres no doubt in my mind that he will. He layed the wood plenty of times this year and is a solid tackler. He'll do whatever it takes to work to be a great player, thats just the kind of mentality this kid has.

He had more takeaways then any other Safety in this years draft, so he definetly has the ball skills. He played three positions on defense for Utah this year. He was the place holder for FG's and PAT's. I wont even get into what he did on offense. Weddle played 50% of the time both ways.

Last but not least the guy is a team player/anti flavor-clown. If he becomes a Denver Bronco, he'll be involved in the community. In fact, I guarntee he starts a charity in whatever city he lands on draft day.

Weddle is just a all around "football player".

I agree with the Natural. I love Weddle. I haven't watched him nearly as much as Natural, but I love what I see. Extremely versatile and just as he said. TEAM PLAYER. I REALLY hope shanny gets him in the 2nd. Harrell in the first and Weddle in the 2nd:strong:

Keep in mind this is a "if I had my way" draft, though Wendling probably goes in the fourth or fifth round. He's someone it'd be worth trading up for. Figurs with our late third is a reach, I agree, but with what he offers on special teams as a gunner and a returner I just think it's worth it as we don't have any picks until round six. He and Allison are the type of receiver we need now that we have all these big guys.

If weddle isn't available in the second round you basically have us taking 2 x DEs in rounds 1 and 2 consecutively. I'm not too sure I can see that happening. I can see us taking multiple DTs but not multiple DEs.

I don't know if everyone else feels this way, but the second round was the hardest for me to draft because after the first, there are more projects than polished players. I chose the best players that will be available around our needs at that time. We might need help on the interior, but I didn't like everyone that was available at DT in round 2.

I agree! :) He's high motor and is better against the run than the pass. He's exactly the kind of player Bates would use. I really like how he uses his hands and how physical he plays for a DT.

Other than the Anderson pick in the 1st choice and the Alama-Francis pick in the 2nd choice, I don't like it very much at all.

Weddle isn't too slow or weak. ThyNatural pretty much handled that one. Pitcock's I just addressed. Waters...well if people think he'll play like I do, he could be gone, but I think most see him as a value pick.

Your comments about Hall surprise me. I agree he's more of a right tackle, but he's a very athletic one. His feet are excellent and I like how he uses his hands. I was especially impressed with leverage correction and how he'd adjust to stay lower than his guy. He's not a world beater, but we're talking about a late sixth round pick here...
I don't think Moss is passionate about football. I would much prefer Spencer or Johnson. Harris I could live with. Figurs is a huge reach in the 3rd. Wendling and Darby won't last to the 5th, let alone 6th.
The thing I like about both Moss and Figurs is that they were playmakers on special teams. Our special teams are a joke and the value both of them bring is why I went that way, though I do like Charles Johnson too.

Wendling you might be right about not lasting, as I already mentioned. Darby could last because he did so poorly this season, at the senior bowl, combine and so on.

Agreed. The only reason Weedle has fallen on draft boards is his physical stature. The guys is all heart and will produce in the NFL.

Pretty good Kahn. I like Anderson and Moss, and the 2nd rounders are great too. I agree with others that Figurs is taken a bit too high, and if we don't get Wendling in the 3rd he'll be gone. You could probably swap those two picks if you really wanted Wendling.

I will be stoked if we pick up Podlesh in the late rounds. That guy can flip the field! Do you know if he can kickoff?

And Waters could be a steal. Anyway, Shanny loves taking injured guys, right?

Switching Figurs and Wendling might not be too bad.

I don't know if Podlesh can kick off well, but he is a great holder; yet another area of need. And the whole injured thing did play a part in my selections. We always take at least one.

nice picks Kaylore

I love the Weddle and Wendling picks. Return specialists like Figurs are going to be taken higher than in year's past. Let's call it the "Devin Hester Effect"

Very solid picks bro!

Weddle is just a all around "football player".I had a year long debate about Tatum Bell with an OSU Cowboy fan last season, so I'll leave it at this; I don't think S is a great need for us this off-season. At least not in the league with DL and (now) LB, or even WR.

THIS IS CETI ALPHA FIIIIIIIIIIIVVVEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!

Ceti Alpha Six exploded when the planet fully realized the consequences of our 2003 Draft.

Everything was laid to waste......we were left with a midget, a fat ass disguised as a linebacker, a mountain with no heart and a bunch of pure scrubs to sustain us. Admiral Kirk never bothered to give us a compensatory pick or two for the nightmare that we endured in that draft.

Khan you are a gentleman and a scholar. However, I think that the fact you left Michael Bush off is ashame. I think that Bush could be our 3rd round selection.

To be fair to Kaylore, he did this draft before the latest reports on Bush's health came in. I am certain he will revise it soon or SoCal will be chasing him with a baseball bat. ;D

:giggle: Well he is a player coming off injury so that probably has him pretty high up on Shanahan's draft board. ;D

At this point we shouldn't even be considering Bush until he slides to at least 86. Such a big question mark and I doubt there is any way he plays in '07.

Overall I like the draft though. I don't think a lot of guys will be avaialable at the picks you place them at (Anderson, Weddle, Pittcock, Waters, Wendling) some seem like overpicks to me (Francis, Harris, Figurs) but its solid and we'd definately have to feel pretty good if it happened.

Sooooo. I picked two of the guys we actually drafted in the rounds that I wanted.

Some were critical of my two DE's in round one and two....FOOOLS!

Some suggested Weddle was a reach...FOOOLS!

All of you thought I was nuts having Figurs in the third round...FOOOLS!!!

I got all my players and their respective rounds right except for Aundrae Allison, who I still think will be a good receiver.

Am I shamelessly tooting my own horn? Yes. Yes I am. ;D
