I know you hang around a lot of "insiders". What makes you think this?

Spring, according to Scott Wright of NFLDC, Abiamiri was seen talking to Broncos scouts at the Senior Bowl. Whether or not this indicates big interest. . . but you have to think that his upside and athleticism, as well as his frame are desired for Jim Bates at the end position.

I had heard that Req, but I'm trying to figure out smoke vs. fire stuff from the Broncos. ;)

That's a tough task man. Maybe Cecil knows more. :) CEEEEEEECIL.

That, and I'd say he's a rich man's Justin Tuck, the guy we were supposedly interested in from NYG for Wilson.
ND's defense has used DEs very similar to Bates' scheme, having them attack up field, makes Abiamiri a really interesting pick at #56.
ND is actually changing to a 3-4 now though. Before too long we're going to have to change to a 3-4 because every major college will be running one.

From my sources out at Dove Valley, Abiamiri is one of their favorite DE's in this draft.
I feel they're going to move up in the 1st (Patrick Willis), and get Abiamiri in the 2nd.
And yes, in Mobile Broncos scouts were raving about Victor.

Isn't much to not like about Abiamiri (except "he sucks against everyone but Stanford"...heh, CO).

I certainly hope you're right about that. I'd love a S or DT as part of the draft too, but those two would make the rest of the draft gravy IMO.

Actually that is a pretty true assessment if you add UNC and Navy. All of his stats came against weak opponents. He disappeared against Michigan, USC and LSU and was marginal against Purdue

Hey Cecil,
1. Which scouts were raving about him?
2. I thought Abiamiri, Woodley (both pre and post injury), and Crowder were very disappointing in mobile. Would you agree?
3. Did you ever Talk to Coyer in mobile and get his thoughts on the North DL?

1. Several scouts for different teams were raving, Browns, Broncos, Seahawks.
2. In Mobile I thought Abiamiri looked the part, certainly passed the eyeball test. He didn't bring it consistently on the field in practice. He looked good in some rush drills, but his effort wasn't up to what I expected.
3. Didn't get to talk to Coyer in Mobile, but have chatted since then (not about the DL).

The knock on Abiamiri is that he doesn't do much in big games and gets his sacks in the Navy and Army type of games and he ran an average type 40 for a DE at the combine. Come to think of it, with the way the Broncos draft DL, he sounds like a guy the Broncos would want. I think this guy will be an Ekuban type. Not horrible, but doesn't stand out much.
Woodley is small and his time wasn't that good either. I'll be surprised if he's ever a starter in the NFL.
Crowder is an interesting who after having an average career in college, had a great year his senior year and ran a good time too. The knock is he doesn't always bring it and doesn't play to his time, so he's a hard guy to judge IMO.

I want to clear up any confusion...I am "Victor", but I'm not Victor Abiamiri. I'm more of a strong safety type. I expect to go in the later rounds, or to be signed as an undrafted free agent. I admit that I'm a bit of a project.

I think Abiamiri will be one of the best DE's out of this deep class. He's got the production and size to do well and would be a great fit for the Broncos.

For what is is worth Kiper has Abiamri rated the 13th best DE and his 94th best player overall.

We'll see. The Broncos don't have Army and Navy on their schedule :D
