JOHN LYNCH, DENVER’S long-time star defensive back, says age and injuries may be looming over the Broncos’ corps of safeties, but he sees a bright future at the position because of former Washington State standout Hamza Abdullah. Abdullah, a seventh round draft choice in 2005, has been used sparingly by the Broncos since they picked him up from Tampa Bay two years ago, but Lynch told the Denver Post recently that he thinks Abdullah has a chance to become a star.

I love Lynch, but I don't put much stock in this. He's a long shot, but I suppose he's worth keeping an eye on.

Maybe Tori Noel will come back to play. After all, he was the next Carnell Lake

Remember what Rod Smith used to say about Lelie? A lot of this is a vet trying to inspire a young player, maybe light a fire under him. For that reason I would take it with a grain of salt.

He's a specimen, for sure. Big, rangy, and athletic.

Like WA and I discussed on Broncomania, it's possible but these feel good stories happen every off-season.
Remember Triandos Luke, I was pretty sure he walked on water.
Oh, the lists go on.

Have we found this year's Corey Jackson?

I don't think Lynch is the kind of guy to build up a player for no reason. Wasn't he the one that said Sheffler looked like he didn't belong in the NFL? He may have been wrong, but he isn't afraid of letting his true feelings be known.

Carlos Hall's been a Bronco since the end of last season.

His religion is going to be a problem. The schedule isn't kind to him this year during Ramadan.

I agree with Lynch.
He looked great on special teams, threw his body around.
This topic was covered the other day. Someone said that they had met him and that he was realy short, shocked me. Has anyone met this guy or seem him around Denver?

He is a second year Safety...

He saw action on special teams in the season opener, but did not record any stats at Stl. (9/10). He contributed a special teams stop in the home opener vs. K.C. (9/17). He did not record any stats on special teams at N.E. (9/24). He was declared inactive vs. Bal. (10/9), vs. Oak. (10/15), at Cle. (10/22), vs. Ind. (10/29) and at Pit. (11/5). He contributed on special teams, but did not record any stats on Thanksgiving at K.C. (11/23). He saw time on special teams and defense, but did not record any stats on Sunday Night Football vs. Sea. (12/3). He helped the team keep momentum as he jarred the ball loose from KR Antonio Cromartie allowing Green to recover the ball at San Diego’s 27-yard line at S.D. (12/10). Three plays later, the offense capitalized on the miscue with a touchdown. He also saw limited action on defense, but did not record any stats against the Chargers. Hmmm, I only remember good things being said about Sheffler last offseason, and that certainly doesn't sound like something a guy like Lynch would say.
Lynch does have a perfectly good reason to build the kid up. He's playing the mentor to the only young talent at the position we have.

I don't think I'd consider 6'2" short...but, then again, I'm only 5'5", so 6'2' is tall to me. Same size and weight as Lynch.
I dont know why but Abdullah stood out to me last year.
have to agree...dont really know what it was but he just looked natural out there making plays....i took notice

I saw him the other day with his girlfriend/wife. He is tiny. She is bigger. He was driving a tricked out Chrysler 300 with oversized tires/wheels that scraped against the fender wall when he tried to make a tight turn out of a parking place.
I right I did the search, here is the quote I was talking about.

I have been keeping my eye on him since we got him.
He is from my Home town, even went to my high school. This kid is from a hard area - I hope he makes something out of himself.

I don't know much about this guy but it seems to me that it is a stretch he will be a good safety. Weren't some of you high on some other safety we had but he was cut. The safety that really stood out last year was curome cox.

i would not be surprised, supposedly and from the little i have seen of him he likes contact and can drop a hammer on a WR
