I recently have decided it's time to upgrade my alarm clock from the one I have, which is 10 years old now.

So, I was looking at a few that have these nature sounds that you can fall asleep too. They sounded decent enough on the displays so I got one ($40.00) took it home and turned it on and noticed after about 15 minutes of listening that the quality really is piss poor. The "THUNDER" got so repetive you could tell when the loop ended even. And you can tell it's not stereo.

Does anybody here recomend a certain brand or know if a high quality clock radio that plays these nature sounds in stereo mode, something very high quality. I don't mind even paying $100 as long as it's super high quality. It has to have a clock, radio, and nature sounds on a timer. It would be even better if it had a USB port which you could plug a flash drive into and play music from that. Thanks.

I've been using the same one for about 7 or 8 years now. Someone else in my family used it before me, and I love it. Its the only thing in my house that works right.

But to answer your question, just get an old fashioned one. Its easy and cheap. Let the booze put you to sleep.

I've got one.... it's called a 5 year old.... She get's up at 6:30 come rain, snow or even power failure in the night.

...and don't forget a 2 year old for backup... once they wake up from the older kids.... well, lets just say you've got a built in snooze alarm that will never quit.

I'm all about the CD alarm Clock, I picked one up at target for about 30 bucks a couple years ago. Waking up to a song is 1000 times better than the generic beep alarms. If you want nature sounds I'd suggest just getting a CD alram and buying a couple Nature CD's, they're cheap and higher quality than something built in.

Sharper Image probably has something for you. I bought a cheap PDA and use that as my alarm. It's very effective and reliable. Nothing fancy.

Lately I've been getting woken up by some huge frigging plane that seems to shake everything like the end of the world or something. I sleep through any incoming and the .60 caliber but the .50 caliber wakes me up for some reason.

I miss my dog. She would come wake me up at 0615 on the money for the morning run even on weekends. She is too much dog for a mere mortal.

I think waking up with the sunlight at 10,000 feet is one of the best alarm clocks you can ever have. How do I get that and a job is beyond me.

I have a Sharper Image Timex clock with nature sounds that's so damn complicated it's rediculous and I lost the manual. DOH! It looks cool tho.

It was seriously trumped by an answering machine/cordless phone that had TWENTY pages of instructions that reads like computer code. It scared me and is still in the box. It has more buttons and switches than a B-2 Bomber.

I shudder to think of the remote on an HDTV! I remember when Chef's plasma got up and attacked South Park...he was unable to figure out how to stop it with the remote.

My freakin' boom box DVD stereo remote managed to have 46 buttons. I guess that justifies why it was 600 bucks.
