Just finished reading my morning paper and I was suprised to see a full page ad by Al Wilson (#56) thanking the fans for their support.
Here it is:
Dear Bronco Fans
As of today I am no longer a Denver Bronco. I leave the team with no regrets, never saying "What if?", and grateful; to have p[layed for such loyal fans who have loved and supported not just me, but my family as well. The last eight years of my and my family's life have been special because of you. You have opened your arms and your hearts to us and we will never forget it.
Your support. enthusiasm, love and dedication are giofts I will carry with me my entire life. The fans and people of Denver have treated me better than I could ever have hoped for and I will be forever in your debt for your unwaivering support, appreciation and respect over my tenure with the Broncos.
I may leave the Broncos, but I will never forget the people who made it all worthwhile-My fans. Thank you for supporting me over the last eight years, and I hope you will cheer me on as I continue to play the game I love so much. I plan on making Denver a significant part of my future plans and will endeavour for the rest of my days to find a way to thank each and every one of you for all that you have done for me and my family.
You cheered for me for eight years and I now cheer for you for the rest of my life. You will always be in my heart, thoughts and prayers.
Your friend always,
Al Wilson. No 56

Total class. I hope he winds up in New England, or with some other championship contender.

Awesome. I wouldn't mind seeing him end up with Indy, NE, or even Carolina. It would be hard to cheer for him in the AFC, but I would. In the NFC, I'd cheer for him easily.
Total class and I look forward to his return to Denver!

If the doctors are right, I hope Al retires and moves on with his life. He definitely sounds like coaching material.

Damn, it sure won't be easy seeing him in another team's jersey. You're all class Al. You played with as much heart as you are showing today. Thanks for showing what it really meant to you to be a Bronco all of these years. Good luck wherever you go, I'll be pulling for you regardless of where that might be.

Man... I'll surely miss him. I can't believe he's not playing another down for the Broncos. I'll follow his career wherever he goes.
No other play got me as excited as a big hit by Big Al...
Thank you for everything, Al! You're one of the reasons I got into football, and it sucks to see you go from the Broncos. Mile High Salute to you!

Awesome, thanks Al.
Personally, I feel he needs to take a year off from football to let himself get healed. His shoulders and neck are just at too much of a risk, they need time off.

Very classy move. Best of luck to you, Al.
And for anyone speculating, he'll never play football again. Nor should he. Leave the game while you can still walk, and hold your kids.

Wow. What a a leader. Sorry he couldn't win a ring in Denver. I still remember his first big goal line hit in the 1999 (i believe) season. Al --and I hope you are an internet nerd-- your leadership and tenacity has made you my favorite player. 2007 just won't be the same.

Very few NFL towns get to experience football players that care more about the team and town then they do themselves. Here in Denver we have been fortinute to have more than a handfull of people that you would tell your kids, "act like this guy, and you will be great." Al was a special player with a big heart and a understanding of his place in time. I will miss him just like a family member, just like atwater. With Al :super: leaving it takes me closer to the day that Rod will leave. Al and Rod are what makes denver and colorado a special place to be a fan. God Bless you Al Wilson, it was a honor to be a fan.

We will never cheer again when we here the Mile High Announcer say, "tackled by AAAAALL WIIIIIILSON". Gonna miss that and his play. Mobley never played another down by recommendation from his doctor. I hope Al doesnt have the same request. It is great that we were backing him when we heard he got cut and then showed class to the fans. He didnt leave us (free agency), but was released by his team. I will always root for him..... unless he goes to the raiders. Good Luck Al and thanks for all your years in the Orange n Blue.

It's always cool to see this from a player. Bledsoe did this in both Boston & Buffalo when he moved on.....class moves from class players the league needs many more of IMO.

Total class. I hope he winds up in New England, or with some other championship contender.
I hope he ends up in Detroit and leads them to a division championship.
The people in Detroit are starving for a winner. It would be cool to see the ex-Broncos take them there.

I loved reading this this morning. Full Color and back of the page. He spared no expense to tell Denver that he loves us and he's sorry to go. I am too, but I understand and I'll cheer him if he plays for someone else that comes into town.

I'll always remember the game Al had against the (undefeated in the playoffs) Pats and Brady.
Right from the first snap he was all over Brady, knocking him down, harassing him and covering the middle like a shark smelling blood in the water.
You are all class, all Bronco, Al Wilson.

Al Wilson, one of the best ever to play the position in my opinion. What ever the reason for his departure, I wish him the best and let him know that the Chiefs are happy for him to be gone, but, that is because we respect him.
