Well crap…..Al Wilson is gone and we now have three positions that need to be addressed - DL, LB, and S. We will have to trade all of our picks to get high enough to get Willis, and that only gets us one player. For what it’s worth, I did some research on the other top LBs - Posluszny, Harris, Davis, and Beason. Paul Posluszny tore both his PCL and MCL in the 2005 season, and seemed like he wasn’t 100% in 2006. In 2003, David Harris tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee, and went on to injure that knee 3 times, missing games every time. Buster Davis is 5-9.….basically he is too short and he injured his knee before the combine, so there is doubt to his health too. Jon Beason had a slight tear of the collateral ligament in his right knee, and is also only 6ft tall. Lawrence Timmons is 6-3, 234lb, with a 4.66 40yd dash. I feel that he will be the best fit for our team because he has the best size of any of the LBs and has great speed. I know that Timmons could come in a rip out his knee in the first play of the season, but that can happen to anyone. The aforementioned players all could be great players, even with their college injuries, but I feel that we should draft someone that didn’t have any previous injuries (just for insurance). I know that most Bronco fans want either Jarviss Moss or Adam Carriker with our first pick, but out LB depth chart is in definite need of help. In such a weak draft for almost every position, this guy needs to be picked up. Oh, by the way Tim Crowder (DE) with our second pick will be fabulous. He is immensely strong and quick.

I included a mock draft (only our picks) of what I think should be our draft……..

Please tell me what you think, and how realistic you feel this draft is…..

Thanks…..
SM

Good idea....but I am not sure where you got your info. on Timmons. According to nfldraftcountdown.com...Timmons is not quite 6'1...let alone 6'3. So he would just a hair taller than our current midget LB Ian Gold. I think Timmons is going to be a great LB, IMO we already have a short, fast LB in Gold. I would take Puz/Willis instead of Timmons. I like your other picks though.....good job!!

http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/images/stars/four.gif </TD><TD vAlign=top>Strengths:
Outstanding natural athlete...Great speed and quickness...Explosive with a burst to close...Has the frame to get add weight and he plays big...An outstanding pass rusher...Has fluid hips and is excellent in coverage...Versatile and could play in a 4-3 or 3-4 scheme...Vicious hitter and tackler...Has sideline-to-sideline range...Is physical and aggressive...A playmaker who is always around the ball...Still has a ton of potential and there is really no telling just how good he may ultimately be.

Weaknesses:
Has only one year of starting experience...Raw and needs work from a technique standpoint...Has some trouble shedding blocks and he doesn't use his hands all that well...May lack ideal instincts and awareness due to inexperience...Needs to continue bulking up and getting stronger...Will get by on his athleticism at times.

Notes:
Was overshadowed by the likes of Ernie Sims, Buster Davis and A.J. Nicholson for most of his college career...Finally got a chance to start in '06 and made the most of the opportunity...Rare physical specimen who just might eventually be a better player than Sims, a former #9 overall pick...Upside is the key word because he is not a finished product but if he lives up to that promise this guy could be special. <HR><TABLE cellSpacing=1 cellPadding=3 width="75%" align=center><TBODY><TR><TD style="BACKGROUND: url(http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/images/bluegradient.gif) repeat-y" colSpan=13><CENTER>Career Statistics</CENTER></TD></TR><TR style="FONT-WEIGHT: bold" align=right><TD align=left>Year</TD><TD align=middle>GP</TD><TD align=middle>TKL</TD><TD align=middle>TFL</TD><TD align=middle>SACK</TD><TD align=middle>PBU</TD><TD align=middle>INT</TD></TR><TR align=right><TD align=left>2004</TD><TD align=middle>12</TD><TD align=middle>12</TD><TD align=middle>1.0</TD><TD align=middle>0.0</TD><TD align=middle>0</TD><TD align=middle>0</TD></TR><TR align=right><TD align=left>2005</TD><TD align=middle>13</TD><TD align=middle>35</TD><TD align=middle>3.5</TD><TD align=middle>3.0</TD><TD align=middle>1</TD><TD align=middle>0</TD></TR><TR align=right><TD align=left>2006</TD><TD align=middle>13</TD><TD align=middle>79</TD><TD align=middle>18.0</TD><TD align=middle>5.0</TD><TD align=middle>6</TD><TD align=middle>1</TD></TR><TR style="FONT-WEIGHT: bold" align=right><TD align=left>Totals</TD><TD align=middle>38</TD><TD align=middle>126</TD><TD align=middle>22.5</TD><TD align=middle>8.0</TD><TD align=middle>7</TD><TD align=middle>1</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE></TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

I don't know, I'm still not sold on linebacker as a round 1 need. I just don't see anyone worthy of the pick, other than Willis, who will go way before #21. Most of the guys who will be there are WLBs and we already have two of them. I'd rather go DL round 1 (Moss or Harrell) and try to pick up someone like Brandon Siler in round 2. The trade for Jenkins would be great. I am starting to warm up to the Piscetelli pick, though.

Look at his video on CNN/SI, he looks 6'3" to me...

Timmons is another WS LB. Broncs already have DJ and Ian. Harris or Siler are the best bets assumming Willis is gone.

No need for Rameriez and Fry as Broncs are loaded on the interior. Need a developmental OT.

Is Javaris Moss fast enough to play either OLB position for us? Sorry if stupid question.

Not a stupid question, but I think it is highly unlikely that a team would move him there. He has the frame to get bigger

What do you guys think about sticking with DL in the 1st round, and grabbing MLB Rufus Alexander from OU in the 2nd or 3rd? Alexander was the defensive captain for Oklahoma, and he had great production as a run stopper and was decent in coverage. He's always in on the play, and he seems pretty adept at managing the Defense. I say that because this year, OU ran a pretty complex defense that was sometimes 3-4, sometimes 4-3, and sometimes whatever random personnel groupings that Venables decided to go with.

Pretty small for an NFL LB at 6' and 225. He will probably fall to the late rounds

Pretty small and slow for an NFL LB - 6', 225, 4.85. He'll be there in the 6/7th round

I think it's pretty likely that Timmons goes to the Steelers at 15, he's the best blitzing LB in the draft and would fill a need for them in that he could be a 3-4 or 4-3 LB depending on whether they transition. Harris or Siler in the second is probably the best bet. Jarvis Moss or Justin Harrell in the first. As for Moss being a LB, only in a 3-4 and even then I doubt it.
