LB at #21? DJ Williams to MLB? Could we rip the Redskins off for Lemar Marshall? Will we have to sign Lavar Arrington? Is Nate Webster going to be our day 1 starter?
WHAT THE ****??

This actually gives denver more flexibility in terms of which direction they could go, no one knows how denver will draft, so...dont give yourself the headache.

Man, to hell with flexibility.
I suppose that if the Colts cut Manning, they'd have flexibility in terms of who they could get at QB.

This could end up really improving our defense. Or making it in the bottom half of the leauge in rush defense. We'll see.

Listen, its not like Al suddenly died. Its obviously been in the plans since the beginning of free agency. Im sure we'll be fine

Alright, I at least have a wee bit of a right to be pissed off when the FO cuts our defense's captain, emotional leader and leading tackler without an apparent plan to replace him.
Even if they do have a plan, I would have put Al in the top 5 MLBs in the league. Unless they have a really, really amazing plan, I don't see how they could upgrade, and frankly, I expect all moves to be upgrades at this point.
I'm just pissed off, okay? Out 30-Year Old All-Pro Defensive Captain was just cut. We couldn't even get a 7th rounder for him. I mean, if he had to leave, I was hoping that we could have gotten SOMETHING for him.

Well it's obvious that they couldn't trade him. He's being cut for medical reasons pretty much. Nobody else would clear him for a trade. Sometimes **** happens. It happened. There's no point holding on to him, paying him money, when he can't perform. Him sitting on the sideline isn't gonna help us anymore than him being cut and that's about all that he was gonna be doing it seems what with the injuries and all.

You can be pissed off all ya want, but neither you or I are educated in the ways of a linebacker nor do we have the expertise. We also dont have the hours of game film and we dont see him in practice. In Shanahan I trust, this is no different

Okay. I would usually be right there with you, but this is a tough loss to take.
On 2nd thought, I think I'm more pissed about that fact that we had to release him, be it because of injuries of because of cap room, than the actual releasing itself.
What if he signs with the Pats?

Be realistic. We lose a MLB with declining speed, bad shoulders and a neck injury who is turning 30 this season. I will miss 56, but he is not a Bronco anymore, team will have to move on. Being mad because he got cut is not suddenly going to make him reappear on the roster.

I still think D-Line should be our first round priority. Anderson, Branch, or Carriker.
Trade up in round 2 for David Harris from Michigan for the LB spot.
Let Webster, Vaughan, and Harris fight it out for the MLB spot.

I don't know that webster should be starting, unless we want LT and LJ to have career games two times a piece next season.

I think Webster sucked hole in the SF game, but he hadn't seen much gametime in a couple years.
Maybe a new system, and understanding he has the chance to start will help him. Nate's real problem was wrapping up / poor tackling technique. People were saying Al needed some of the same help.
I just think that with proper scheme and coaching, Nate would be a fine stop gap for a year. Or while a newly drafted rookie gets up to speed in the league.
Tell me how you felt about playing Keith Burns at LB last year??
With an improved D-line / D-scheme, Nate could be 80% of what we need until we can find another guy with 100%.

round 3, Brandon Siler, University of Florida
the broncos will go DL/LB/OT/S with first four picks, take that to the bank!

You have to think that this is thought out from way before we heard a thing about it. It's a bummer but Al is all banged to hell and back. The Broncos have a plan we just have to wait and see what it will be. For sure we will be looking for a strongside linebacker in the draft at some point. That doesn't mean though that Denver is done. They may have a vet linebacker that they have their eye on.

I think Siler is another good pick, i'm just not sure we could land him in the 3rd, especially if we trade away 3a for Jenkins.

There was that rumor about hartwell...i still hope they draft D-line, linebackers are replaceable. And they didnt cut all as a salary cap casuality, i guarentee you that

Yeah invisible players always make the pro-bowl.
People can bash Wilson all they want and say he was damaged goods, washed up, invisible, but you can't deny the fact that he was a BEAST in the middle for the Broncos.
Dang, now who is gonna watchthemiddle????
I hope they have someting good planned.

(1)DE, (2)DT, (3)LB, (4)Safety. If we sign Jenkins, switch DT and LB. Use any picks left after the first four to move them as high as we can get them. Play ball.

Christ, let's all whine a little more. Al had been shopped for 6 weeks before this happened, does anyone actually think the Broncos do not have an idea of what they plan to do for a replacement?

Jenkins isn't a UFA, he'd cost at least one of those picks.

How do people feel about MLB Rufus Alexander from Oklahoma? Some draft boards are listing him at OLB, but I'm 90% sure he played MLB for OU. He was the defensive captain/leader, and he had great production and understanding of the system. Last year, OU ran a pretty complicated hybrid 3-4/4-3 defense and he was still able to direct everyone to where they needed to be.

If we can keep dealing 2nd's for guys like Javon, I'd take it all day.
