Can she yell real loud "RAIDERS SUCK"?
Actually you only have to master one or the other.
The North side yells: Raiders
The south side replies: Sucks
Simple as that!

If there's a football game, the weather is GOOD.
Does it really matter?
I'm sure Lynch wants to get all of the bases covered, weather IS unpredictable in Denver and my advice is to bring a poncho or something for the wifey. I know Lynch is a tough guy but I don't think his wife would be happy getting drenched at the game...kinda like Sassy and Hogan at San Diego a couple years back.Ha!
My advice is to check the weather reports for Denver a week before you leave for Denver.
EDIT: LYNCH IS NOT MARRIED.LOL

Was that the New Years eve game? I was there too.
I can remember watching the local news in the morning and the weather guy was saying there was a good chance of rain later in the day. I look out the window and it was sunny and couple clouds around San Diego. I say to my cousin this guy is full of **** and I am leaving my rain gear here in the room. BIG MISTAKE. :giggle:

Nope...and it wasn't cold either...just wet! Ha!
Perfect tailgate weather and game weather...until about half time!
We watched the 2nd half on the concourse...but Missingnumber7 and his wife toughed it out...of course, they had raingear!

Still looking for a rock band for this game. Anybody got a hook up. Need a band who can throw down some raider hate.
Nugs recommended the Metalla Kids a few years ago. They were loud as hell. Helped us bring home loudest tailgate. Only thing was after we were given the loudest tailgate trophy the yellow coats told us to turn it down. Guess what. They didn't!Hilarious!

Ive seen our group drink before and not very good idea. Jana, until you experience a drunk singing "We Love our Broooooncooos" while stealing bologna, you have no idea what this group is capable of doing. I say, leave it to the professionals. If anyone of you sees me getting on stage for karioke, shot me or hand me a Bud Light. It will have the same effect on my body.

Unless Disco is on the mic riffing on passerbys and doing the Ric Flair thing, it's really not worth much. Mr. Blue is pretty good.....so is Bum, but I really dislike Neil Diamond....other than that, the Karaoke thing was pretty much dead if I remember right.

It really varies by where you want to sit...
For some reason the "availability" doesn't seem to be there for tickets for this game as they were in games past. (and we've gone to the KC game the last two years...one on MNF.)

If anyone on that list needs to bring tailgate supplies to the tailgate pm me and I will work with you on spot as I have some that are available. I don't want to jam my lot up with cars but if you are bringing a cooler, food, a table or something I understand it's a pain in the arse dragging all that stuff around.
The good thing about our spot is you can also park in the adjacent lot M for like $30. It takes awhile to fill up unlike C which is really hit and miss with spots.
Hey CBF1 how are those knees holding up buddy? Ready for some canton style football?;)
The cool thing is there is a park right across the street also where we can toss a ball around without any traffic coming thru the game. That was an issue last year.:~ohyah!:

I am looking at JW too as I am gonna use my credit card points for a free flight (good thing i buy those Chargers season tickets, it pays off to go to Denver). See if Marriott has a shuttle so you dont have to pay for one or wait for my ass to pick you up. If you havent got your hotel in stone, here is what i got at priceline.com . I put in $40 for 21/2 star for stapelton area and downtown. I got an upgrade to 3 star at Red Lion at Stapelton. I ve stayed there and it is a 2 1/2 star to me but they accepted it again at that price. Even my computer was laughing at me when they said rooms typically go for $159. They can shuttle to and from airport and also take to the other Red Lion that many are staying at. So anyone that hasnt got their room, try priceline.com. Am I partying Saturday night? Boy, you got a lot to learn at the mane :) WHy come in on Sat if I am not there to catch a BB game and then party with the maners at a few LODO locations. Dude, I will have my groove on if needed. Look at my sig. This diet doesnt stop on the 16th but is motivation to party like a rock star. I am averaging about 2 beers a week right now. I will be at 2 beers an hour. To see further proof of me and pre tailgate parties, check out last year's Faiders tailgate thread (first time I heaved in at least 5 years) and the great Arizona trip where I kept it cool but drank to keep up with BroncoBlue. This is LOOOONG but just to get you ready for one hell of a weekend. Ask Ludo. he didnt even drink but got buzzed from just everyone else's breath. Good times.

The whole deal with a bargain depends on the circumstances...we had a pretty expensive hotel in san diego, but when you figure in that we could walk or take the train...for a couple of bucks a day...(we were right in the middle of everywhere we wanted to go) the not needing to rent a car (so we could party) or a cab ($40 just one way to Qualcomm) was well worth the extra expense of the hotel. Same in Denver...if it has a free shuttle to and from the airport or is within walking distance from the stadium and has a bar/restaurant...it's well worth the extra bucks...Most of the time it's cheaper to stay at a more expensive hotel in the long run.
We have seen your avatar. We know you like food! Ive paid and arranged for kitchen duty. Hey Meck, do we still have our OF1 security of one?

Ok, this message is for those flying in on Saturday. I got my flight (free!) coming from John Wayne (11:04) to Denver at 2:09PM so plenty of time to get ready for Sat. night (baseball game?). CBF or Lynch, try to get this time in if you need a ride to your hotel. I have shuttle to Red Lion on Quebec but not sure to get to downtown. I might use their transportation. If anyone wants to split cost on car, let me know. Then we can pick up those that need a ride to Mecks lot. Free parking for car pool of Maners, Meck77?
If you get there early enough, I can just tell them that your car is my car and you all can park at the Red Lion next to Invesco and we can walk over.

The Blue Shuttle... $19 each way...Red Lion on Bryant.
You can type in your hotel and it will give you a price.
You can also book it online (and print out your passes) or just go to the desk by the fountain when you land at DIA. We've had really good luck with it. It will pick you up at your hotel when it's time to leave for the airport...Let your hotel know and they will tell you when to be down there for pickkup.

Funny thing is that I was thinking of that same idea after I posted it. They give you free parking as long as you are staying the night. The keg is BYOB so why would it be a liability? Bottles or keg is still beer. Meck wouldnt be providing it, we would be. What liability is there in the difference. Beer is beer unless it is Bud or Miller than it is sick bay time. Someone asked when everyone is getting in. My 2:09 might be the latest but if we do the baseball game, do we meet at Red Lion or a Sports Bar (sports Column?) before the game? Has anyone put any feelers out for where we are partying Saturday night? I like the Sports Column and close to other bars and one street over for white Boy dancing at the Dove.

I know the rockpile is in a different county, but looking at some prices, we are boozing and dont give a rat's arse about the two teams, I saw a cheap way of staying out of the way of the serious folks who wont have to hear us banter about what is better, coors light or bud light while drinking miller lite. If we have 15 people that wants to go, where else can we get a group seating and a price everyone agrees on? TGN, i dont buy high end tickets 2nd hand, I just sell them that way! :) Always open to better suggestions. Hell, we dont have anything yet.

Very cool! I don't think posterboard would fit in my suitcase, but I'll bring the candles and markers.
I can help look for pics of Darrent and Damien for you Blue...I know you're really busy right now!
Yeah, I'll be mega-busy till after the wedding... but between the 1st and about the 12th (we're planning to leave Wednesday afternoon/early evening so as to make it a leisurely trip... as opposed to a marathon 20-hour drive like we've done a couple times in the past Ha!) I'll have some time to prepare for Denver.
Next Saturday is our anniversary... and our youngest daughter just turned 18 last Wednesday... the bridal shower was Saturday... tons of stuff going on. LOL
Ha! You are involved with a younger woman!
LOL At my age they are either younger or dead..... I choose younger Hilarious!

Good thinking.
I suspect our group won't be the only ones thinking about paying their respects to these guys this game or any other game this season for that matter.
Just my gut feeling but I can't imagine the Broncos not providing a permanent place outside of the stadium for fans to remember these guys at? Seems very reasonable. Nut could you ask sandy about this also?

We'll be in Denver early (Friday afternoon), with a car for transportation. Doing some shopping is on our agenda anyway, so it shouldn't be too difficult to find some poster board. And if we need pictures of Darrent and Damien printed, my printer could handle that.... even as large as 8 x 10's....

Williams' grave needs our help
By Woody Paige
Denver Post Staff Columnist
Article Last Updated: 08/19/2007 12:53:59 AM MDT
Fort Worth, Texas - The cemetery's most prominent white-marble
figure, bearded and draped in a flowing robe, extends welcoming,
outstretched arms.
The late-morning sun casts the statue's eerie shadow on the grave
just behind.
Darrent Williams has Jesus' back. He still defends.
On Saturday, as the Broncos got psyched to play football, their
starting cornerback of a season ago rested in peace 35 miles away.
Williams would have been, should have been, with them in Irving's
Texas Stadium, not alone in Fort Worth's Laurel Land Memorial Park.
A young footballer and father was buried here on Jan. 6. A death too
soon, too violent, too ugly to understand.
Three cemetery employees said they did not see anyone who looked like
a football player or a coach at the grave site the past five days
while the Broncos stayed in a hotel in a Dallas suburb. Helen
Richardson, a photographer for The Denver Post, spent eight hours at
the grave on Friday, and there were no other visitors.
The Broncos had practices and preparation, and maybe it was too
difficult, logistically and psychologically, to make the pilgrimage
to the graveyard and be reminded of the pain of a friend's sudden
death at last season's end. They wear his and the late Damien Nash's
numbers (27 and 29) on their helmets and have dedicated their season
to the players' memory.
Williams' only companions Saturday were the vigilant Holy Man and an
imperfect interloper from Colorado.
Several yards away, two men and a backhoe dug another hole in the
ground.
Life and death proceed.
Williams' spot in the small "Christ Our Son" circle in the tasteful,
serene cemetery cannot be described as a pauper's grave. But almost.
More than seven months after the funeral, the grave does not have a
permanent headstone celebrating Williams' life or proper
acknowledgment of Williams' death.
A modest temporary headstone, with disposable letters spelling
out "Darrent Williams," was placed "as a favor," says Jeff Burtis, a
family service counselor at the funeral home/cemetery. "We don't
normally do that unless someone buys a permanent headstone. But we
didn't want the site to be there without a name on it."
The headstone, which eventually must be removed to be used
temporarily on another grave, is surrounded by a row of shrubs, a
miniature American flag, a teddy bear, two groupings of artificial
flowers and ... a snow globe and a "Love You Dad" cross (both
apparently left by Williams' 7-year-old son Darius and 4-year-old
daughter Jaelyn, who attended Saturday night's exhibition game
between the Broncos and the Cowboys). There are no tributes to a
fallen, local son or indicators of his brief time in the NFL.
The cemetery opened in the 1920s, and the oldest section features
marks of respect to some who were born in the 1800s. Williams is the
most well-known of those buried at Laurel Land (a name that,
unfortunately, seems more suitable for a theme park or housing
development), although the same week his body was laid to rest, a
funeral was held on the property for the nephew of country singer
Ernest Tubb.
Darrent's mother met with the players at Broncos practice on
Thursday. Rosalind Williams and a sister go to the cemetery often,
and she and Burtis have talked several times about a respectable
headstone, accompanied by a Georgia-gray granite bench under the elm
tree.
But there is no resolution, and there is a financial dilemma. Darrent
Williams' house in Colorado is in foreclosure, and a majority of his
money, whatever amount that might be, has not been made available to
his mother or Tiara Leonard, the mother of his two children.
The Broncos' ownership and management purchased eight plots at the
cemetery for the Williams family, at a reported cost of $30,000, and
several of Williams' teammates are raising funds for a teen center in
his name. Two of the Nuggets are arranging for the education of
Williams' children.
Yet, there is no lasting headstone on his grave.
That's not right.
It's not right for anyone. You can't pass unknown and unloved.
Williams deserves better. He deserves more than a cheap, temporary
headstone that will erode away or be taken away.
Burtis and his supervisor, Scott Nofziger, said that a nice,
permanent, flat headstone, carved out of granite, would cost about
$1,300; the granite bench featuring etchings of Williams in uniform,
$4,000; and an upright headstone with his achievements and a few
words about him, $1,800.
So many people in Denver have wondered what they can do.
We can get him a headstone and a bench for those who come to mourn
his loss and praise his victories.
A dignified grave site for Williams would require about $7,000.
I will start with a $250 donation and open a specific bank account
for the drive on Monday. If you would like to contribute $1 or $20 or
$100, send a check made out to "The All Ready Fund" in care of me at
The Denver Post, 101 W. Colfax Ave., Suite 600, Denver, CO 80202. The
Post, the Broncos and the Williams family are not involved in this
project, nor should they be. It's just Broncos fans and a writer
trying to do a little good.
I will transfer the money to Laurel Land, and they will contact the
Williams family to pick out the headstone and bench they want. Any
remaining money will be given to the teen center fund drive.
If we raise the money for a Mile High Salute to Williams, a small
notation will be added, by the cemetery staff, beneath the
headstone: "Thank you, Darrent, from the Broncos fans. You were all
ready." When Rosalind Williams dedicates the memorial, maybe she will
mail us some photos.
On Saturday afternoon I set a bouquet of orange and blue flowers on
Darrent Williams' grave. Now, it has a Broncos touch.
And the figure in white marble, the everlasting guardian for
Williams, seemed to smile.
