View Full Version : SOPRANOS Final Season Starts Sunday Night

Just 8 / 9 episodes left ... and there's two schools of thought:
1) The writers get creative, and everybody is either whacked, goes to prison, or turns to Jesus to end the series.
2) They have a movie deal, and this final season will merely set up the #1 Blockbuster movie for 2008.
"Entourage" is also back on the HBO schedule Sunday night ...

A lot of people didn't like The Sopranos during the first part of this final season... And I admit, the whole coma thing dragged on too long.
But anybody not excited about these finals 9 episodes is crazy. It's going to be so sweet.
And I want to see what happens to Vince & Co., love me some Entourage.

They're not going to kill everybody, but I wouldn't be surprised if Christopher Moltasanti doesn't get out. There will be a movie, but not right away.
I strongly believe David Chase had no intention of doing a sixth season and felt sort of pressured to bring the show back. Last season's storylines were a big F you to a large segment of the show's fan base: Vito the fag. AJ the fairy. Paulie Walnuts isn't speaking to his mom/aunt. I'm sorry, but Joe Sixpack tunes in to see people get their thumbs broken and he doesn't want to see any of that sensitive crap.
I can only hope Chase and company put more creative effort into the final ten shows than they did into the previous eight.

Its a real drag/disappointment that this is the Sopranos last season. I the think the producers and writers are canceling the show four years pre-maturely.

My thoughts:
Meadow is going to get whacked, Tony comes unglued and kills everyone. AJ straightens out into the gangster that his father wants him to be and is brought into the family following Meadows death.
Adrienne is not dead - not sure why I think this but I do. Sil is planning something rotten and let her go to be used later.

Tony has never wanted AJ to be a gangster. He just wanted him to stop being a total loser. If they devoted one more episode to that kid, I would start having the show's writers whacked.

Once The Sopranos and The Wire wrap things up, there's not going to be much reason to keep HBO.

I can see Christopher getting off'ed. I hope they take that waste of space AJ off the show, for the love of sweet moses. And I think Adrienne is gonna come back, but in a sort of dream sequence type thing. Who knows, but call me crazy, but i can see Sylvio getting whacked sometime soon as well.
And Entourage is finally back. Thank God. I Love that show.

Sopranos was alright tonight. Started off good, ended good. The middle when they were singing and playing board games seemed to drag, but it was building to something, and the fight/the rest of the episode was good.

Seems like the past few seasons have started out with about 3 or 4 pretty boring episodes. Looks like this one is no different, unfortunatly.

Bacala moves to the top of the People Who Won't Make It Out List.
Are you saying Carmela's husband is a vindictive, vengeful person? That he can lie low for weeks even years before he strikes?!
I thought the Monopoly scene was amazing .... Brubeck's 'Take 5' underneath, while the script veered deftly - back and forth between nice friendly talk, and thinly-veiled antagonism. I thought Tony was gonna blow two or three times before BOBBY struck first. It was beautifully written, acted and directed.
It seemed funny the next day, though .... Carmela's defense of Tony (that I paraphrased above). It seemed out of character for her. SHE KNOWS Tony is a vindictive and vengeful person, so what's with the defense? Kinda cuts the balls outta her character a little...

I used to love the show. Now I feel Like I loose a little bit of my morality after watching it. Things like infidelity and theft are taken so lightly that it colors the way I think for a day or two.

Yeah ... did I miss that falling out?
I know Tony was po'd about the drug relapse, but when did all the anger happen? I recall that they really bonded last season - hijacking the wine from those crooks, making peace between Chris and Paulie, etc ...

I think Tony has been iffy on Chris ever since the whole adriana thing happened. Tony wants full devotion from Chris and he is unwilling to give it...though i think some of their friction this season probably happened off screen and we will learn. Good first ep though....same with Entourage.
But i think there is def. still reason to keep HBO! Entourage is awesome, the wire is the best show on tv (though entering its final season), Big Love is fantastic, one more season of Curb Your Enthusiasm, and a slew of new shows i've heard great things about! Im excited

Carmela knew Tony was wrong, but there's no way she's going to sit there and let Janice take thinly veiled potshots, subtly comparing him to their mother, no less.

Because Tony chose not to nail that realtor (Jennifer Margulies) and then she became Christopher's heroin/**** buddy. Tony felt abstaining from cheating on Carmela that time was the right thing to do because she stood by him while he was recovering from the gunshot. Even though he didn't take the opportunity, he still feels like the realtor belongs to him. For Christopher to go there was a serious breach of trust in Tony's eyes.

Funny, there was a write up in the NY Times saying that the first 2 episodes were "slow". I thought it was better then anything from last season. The fight, the Tony making Bobby kill that hippie. What a get back.

I think it set up the season brilliantly. This season will deal with Tony's insecurities and his thoughts on his own mortality. Too many people want plot oriented episodes and the Sopranos just isnt about that...maybe more early on, but now they are character studies and usually quite impressive

I will agree it was better from most of the stuff from last year, that stuff was just side plots that made you feel like they were wasting time.
In the season before that they just kept introducing characters, then killing them off. I get the feeling they have been trying to "stretch" the series out for a couple years.

I never really got into the Sopranos
But my wife and I enjoyed most of the other HBO original programming.
Now all that stuff has ended (Rome, Deadwood, Sex In the City, Carnival, 6 Feet Under, etc)...and now Sopranos on its way out...
Wondering if its time to cancel HBO? I cant see how they will replace all these shows with equal quality - and the original programming is 95% the reason why we subscribe.

I think she's a pretty good actress. Anyone who can create that hate-able of a character HAS to be a good actress.
And yes, I despise Janice. I absolutely loath her. It's hurts my brain when she appears on the screen. It hurts even worse when she opens her mouth to say anything, which is almost all the time.
Really, the very possibility of someone like that walking the earth makes my teeth hurt and makes me doubt that there's a God.
Because, you know, if I was God, obliterating Janice would be really high on my list. Not as high as wiping out cancer, but really, really high.
I'm not talking about turning her into salt or striking her down with the plague, or anything. Nothing short of complete disintegration would suffice. And then I'd gather up the molecules and send them through a black hole or something, just on the off-chance that they'd ever randomly come together again.
But even that wouldn't be enough. I wouldn't consider the job finished until I'd mind-wiped her from the memory of every sentinent being that ever came in contact with her. Right down to small little birds and even goldfish.
And then I'd mindwipe myself to forget that she ever existed.
So, in answer to the question, I don't like Janice very much.

The sopranos are SO above this kind of crap. Bobby wont be pinned for this murder, its a red herring..they do this all the time. They don't concern themselves with stupid plot oriented details like this.
As far as cancelling HBO, why? Whenever one of their staple shows moves on, they replace it with something great. Personally, im intrigued by JOhn from cincinnati (or whatevr). Before the sopranos, they had a commercial introducing a ton of new shows that will air in the next year...so there will be good stuff to come. Plus, the last season of the wire!
