WASHINGTON - Shattering previous records, Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton collected $26 million for her presidential campaign during the first three months of the year and transferred an additional $10 million from her Senate fundraising account, aides said Sunday.
The New York senator's total included $4.2 million raised through the Internet. The campaign did not specify how much of the $36 million was available only for the primary election and how much could be used just in the general election, if she were the party's nominee.
The amount outdistanced past presidential election records and set a high bar by which to measure the fundraising abilities of her chief rivals.

The fundraising deadline for the January through March period was Saturday, with financial reports due April 15.
The Clinton campaign did not announce how much it had spent during those three months

seriously, so far I've been surprised that Obama has raised as much as he has. From what I read, his chances depend not on raising money, because he's done that, but using the money well in getting a campaign staff running effieciently in each primary state. Dean raised the money, but failed to get organized.
On the gop side, Fred Thompson is a surprise. This guy just announced, and he's already got double digets in the polls. That may show that support for Rudi and McCain is really not there. However, Thompson was bashed by Colorado's own resident RW Christian Loon, James Dobson, as not only being not conservative enough but as maybe not even a Christian.
It's a race to see which party's resident loonybirds kill themselves off the fastest. LOL

Which is a good point. Clinton had raised $37 million for her Senate
re-election against a token Republican who had no chance what-so-ever
of beating her. Now Clinton is rolling over $10 million of the money
she raised for her Senate campaign into her presidential run into
the $26 million she raised this quarter, giving her $36 million to spend.
Which begs the question of what did she do with the other $27 million
left over from her Senate campaign? If she went through $27 million
in a race where she was virtually unopposed, how long will $36 million
last where she has viable competition?

I kind of like Obama. I don't agree with him on all issues, but at least he seems that he is an honest and thoughtful individual. I emailed him about an article that was written about him, and I received a very well thought out reply. Of course I know that he probably did not write it and it was probably a mass reply, but I can make-believe that it was direct reply to me can't I?

I think part of her cash was the senate money. Obama raising that much money in a much shorter time is pretty amazing. I dont care what she raises from the limo liberals, she wont beat a republican nomination.

Yes, there was an extra $10 million left over from Clinton's Senate campaign
in addition to the $26 million Clinton raised this quarter. But for that Senate
re-election campaign she had raised $37 million. So my question is what did
she do with the other $27 million, considering she ran virtually unopposed
for her Senate re-election. How do you blow $27 million for a Senate campaign
when no one meaningful is even running against you?
Obama raising that much money in a much shorter time is pretty amazing.
Actually Clinton's $26 million and Obama'a $25 million were both money they raised this quarter.
I dont care what she raises from the limo liberals, she wont beat a republican nomination.
So, you are part of that 22%? ;)

Rudy does seem to be slipping in the polls:
Political observers have long predicted that the outsized popularity of "America's mayor" could not survive the rigors of a presidential campaign indefinitely. Recent news and the passage of time appear to have made this the week that former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani's (R) poll numbers return to mortal status.
The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that Giuliani's lead over New York Senator
Hillary Clinton (D) has disappeared. The former First Lady has closed the gap and pulled to within a single percentage point, trailing just 48% to 47%. Last month, Giuliani had an eight point lead over Clinton. The month before, it was nine points. In fact, Giuliani had been ahead of Clinton in five straight monthly polls dating back to December.
Two other polls released this week show the same slippage for Giuliani. He lost his lead over Illinois Senator Barack Obama (D) and also lost nine percentage points of support in the race for the GOP Nomination.
This latest survey finds that Giuliani's favorability ratings have also slipped. Fifty-eight percent (58%) of Likely Voters now have a favorable opinion of him. That's down from 64% in late March and 71% in December (see tracking history). Still, these numbers must be kept in perspective. While down from stratospheric levels, Giuliani's numbers remain the highest of any 2008 Presidential candidate.
But you could be right about Clinton:
Opinions about Giuliani are less intense than those concerning Clinton. On balance, springing from his leadership in New York City in the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks, they're also a bit more positive. For the GOP hopeful, 20% have a Very Favorable opinion while 14% have a Very Unfavorable opinion. Clinton's numbers are 25% Very Favorable and 37% Very Unfavorable.
Overall, Clinton is viewed favorably by 48%, unfavorably by 50%. An earlier survey found that 46% would definitely vote against Clinton no matter who the GOP nominates. Twenty-eight percent (28%) would definitely vote against Giuliani.

She's unelectable, period. As I said before, she's far too polarizing a figure.
I also don't believe Obama has a realistic shot either....I hate to sell the public short here, but I still see too much in the way of bigotry to find it possible for a woman or a minority to be elected President at this time. That leaves Edwards as the only one left who can raise any real amount of jack and the only one who has any semblance of a plan....but I don't think he'll rise above the DNC's notion of being "cutting edge" by going with a minority or a woman for the Presidency (The Geraldine Ferraro lesson apparently long forgotton).
On the GOP side of things, Rudy is too moderate on social issues and too much his own man to cowtow to the GOP conservative base...he will be destroyed by the smear machine as a result. Mitt is already being labelled as a flip-flopper and the further McCain can sink out of contention, the better (he's shooting himself in the foot at seemingly every turn). Personally, I'm glad to see GOP contenders moderate to liberal on social issues for a change...but I'm about the only one it seems. It'll be interesting to say the least if no one else emerges with the conservative base background that they can rally around....who would they pick in such an instance?
