A buddy passed this along to me, from an insider on the Washington Post. Nothing Bronco related, but interesting nonetheless.
Don't have much yet, but the Bears appear close, according to Howard's sources, to having their proposal ready to give to the Skins. While it is officially impossible to know how all of this will shake out, we do know that much. On the matter of JaMarcus Russell, everyone shares the same gut feeling: the player the Skins would want is Calvin Johnson. So it would seem that Briggs is plan A, moving up is plan B. Unless, of course, that isn't the case--you tell me! All we can do is watch this one closely.
According my buddy, the asking price to move up in the draft is being rumored to be 6th pick in this year's draft, draft picks next year, and a player or 2, like Randal-El or someone of that caliber. No word on who they'd be trading with.

That seems like an awful lot to move up at the most 5 spots. I guess depending on the other pick they give up.
A bears fan told me yesterday that the Bears have no plans on moving Briggs until at least draft day. I dont know if that was mentioned somewhere on here, but with the way the Bears have held their ground thus far, I can't imagine that NOT being true.
I just have a feeling that the Bears are over valuing Briggs. Hes a good player, but they just give me the sense they put a price tag on him that may be enormous. Just a gut feeling.

I don't get it. They trade for Briggs or get the second overall? What could they possibly offer to move up? Their fourth round pick?

Oh yeah. My buddy told me that if they got Briggs or moved up for Calvin Johnson, he'd disown the 'Skins and then find the team that finishes with the worst record in the NFL this coming year and become a fan of theirs and start fresh. He may have been serious.

Next years picks. Cant remember the last time Washington had 1/2 their quota of picks let alone a full quota going into a draft.

Ok, but those are two different teams. Is this a three way trade or are they saying that the Redskins will try and get Calvin Johnson if they can't get Briggs? Why does not getting Briggs necessitate a trade up for a wide receiver? It doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

I see what you're saying. I guess the bottom line is, according to this rumor, that the Skins want to make a big move, and it's going to be either Briggs or CJ. Which you're right, doesn't make a whole lot of sense. But that is the 'Skins.

I think this is more than "those crazy 'Skins." I think the "report" is untrue.
"We need help at linebacker! Let's do whatever we can to upgrade our linebacking corps."
"What about Briggs? He wants out! He can be the piece!"
"I agree. Get Chicago on the phone and let's make it happen."
"What if they refuse?"
"Then only Calvin Johnson can save us."
If CJ was that important, wouldn't they try to do that first? It has the aroma of male bovinae bovidae fecal matter.

Using Skins fan logic*, the Bears would rape them in the Briggs trade, the 31st for the 6th.
*Skins fan logic is that a player who does not want to play for a team anymore is not included in the trade, i.e. the Skins acquired Portis for just a 2nd round pick since Champ no longer wanted play in DC.

You should tell him if he does that you can't be his friend anymore. Nobody likes a raiders fan.

CJ would be a great move for them. Their WR corps is a joke right now, and the only player worth anything is a fringe no. 1/2 Santana Moss.
Hey STBumpkin! You livin' in Anacortes right now? What are you flying, P-3's?
