A very good article on the Elizabeth Edwards situation. It rings so true with me having gone through the horror of cancer when my mom died (at only age 53). People really do react almost illogically to how people deal with such a horrible disease.

Personally...I feel like he is trying to use this to gather votes. If I were him...I would drop out, or would have never annouced it to the ppublic....on TV....in a press conference...and then hit the major talk show circuit about it. It's personal business....everybody has these ills to one degree or another...they don't get press conferences for it and interviews with Matt from the Today Show

If he had kept quiet about the situation the media would have found out anyway and people like you would have accused him of sweeping his wife's illness under the rug so it wouldn't interfere with his presidential run. It was his wife's choice to continue the run because she does not want the situation to control the direction of her life...good for her.

Hey folks, we are in the presence of a celebrity. Rush Limbaugh has decided to grace the Orange Mane with his wit and wisdom.

Nah, Limbaugh was first. He didn't even wait a day before he accused
Edwards of using his wife's cancer for political motives. Limbaugh made the
claim on the very same day.

I have a problem with making sweeping judgements about people based on their career, especially when you've never once been able to offer up any example of a legal case where Edwards' actions were unethical. Also, something like this happens, people want you to answer questions about it...some people like you are going to think it's opportunistic, so he has to address those issues some way. Hence, the "mini-tour", as you put it. I've only seen him on 60 Minutes, but I would imagine after a week or two of answering questions about it he'll move along. I seriously doubt Edwards believes that he will gain votes by announcing that his wife has cancer a year away from the primaries.

And Edwards and his wife choose to do something differently. You're just determined not to like the guy because he's a trial lawyer, whom you ignorantly all lump together even though you have nothing of substance on Edwards. And no, you having bad experiences with other trial lawyers proves absolutely nothing about Edwards, only your own bias.

I hear what you are saying....I mean it's not like they guy tried to use the VP's family against him in a debate. Edwards is what he is....now he's trying to use his wife to pander for votes.

Eh, there's no point discussing this further with you. You've already made your mind up to dislike Edwards based on your ignorant assumptions about trial lawyers, so carry on in your ignorance about the man. Nothing to say other than you just flat don't know what fck you're talking about.

After listening to what Liimbaugh & Hannity are saying about Edwards then going on this board, I feel like I just walked into an echo chamber... Just an observation

It just seems to me that he might want to spend time with his wife instead of campaigning. I may disagree with him on policy but family comes first. God forbid her cancer is really bad and she falls very ill I would imagine he would have regrets about not being there and such. But, ultimately, it is their call how they deal with it.

This using it to garner votes stuff is dealing to the lowest common denominator and I don't like it. If it is the case, they're going to have to live with their conscience about the deal. I don't think anyone will cast a vote for, "Well, his wife has cancer."

You're often the voice of neocon and right wing morality though so your opinion couldn't ever be tainted when it comes to deciding what people should do for their own good in the other party.

Brother...I am only giving my opinion on what I would do. What will actually happen is another matter as well as what other people should do. I can tell you this much...if Edwards were to win the nomination and the election. He would get my support as President...unlike the way others treat our current President. I am neither right wing or left. Like most people...I am liberal here and conservative there.

Bush brought that on himself ........ From Iraq , to the outing of Valerie Plame ......... Bush at one time enjoyed a 89% approval rating after 9-11 ...... I think he mis read that as he can do what ever he wants , when he wants , how he wants ...........

It started well before 9/11 and Iraq...they wanted to do to him like was done to Clinton. As much as I hated it ...he won the first election...it just went down hill from there to the point that when his administration was making really bad decisions....it's hard to persuade people because the pervasive attitude becomes one of disbelief.

Didn't Bush have something like an 89% approval ratings in the days
after 9/11? Hell, even I was for him going into Afghanistan and
cleaning house. I was anti-Taliban long before Bush was elected,
and was glad to see them go, at least at the time it looked like
they were going to be wiped out. Now sadly enough it looks like
the Taliban is coming back.
