I don't think some people realize that you can make a donation by clicking on the blue "A Bike For Sam" banner. They might still be waiting on your paypal address. Well, I guess I'll just get the word out here.
For those wanting to make a donation, click on the blue "A Bike For Sam" banner above the threads in the "Central Discussion". You will see a button to make a donation once you're in there.
thanks for the clue... for some reason I hadn't checked to click on it.

You know for shipping would could do a relay type of thing. Where maybe like 4 people drive a leg. One from Dallas to Oklahoma some where, another to Kansas somewhere, and another could meet Falconer in Southern Illinois. It may be cheaper to ship the bike but its another idea.
if someone can get it near the southwest corner of missouri...i can get that thing to st louis area of of illinois

I should be able to at least get it to Oklahoma City when it is done. I will try to line up the rest of the trip for people when I get a little closer to done.

How much longer until the bike is done? My friend is thinking of heading down south on I-57 to Jackson, MS from Chicago in mid-May. If someone can get it to him somewhere along the way, I'm sure he can bring it over on his way back.

3/32s ABS high impact with 1" expanded foam. Put Nasa tiles on this puppy and Sam could re-enter the earths atmosphere. Wait till you see it on the inside molded to his dimensions.

Okay people, Should be done with every thing by monday the 30th of April. Will be heading to Oklahoma city that day. Need all you volunteers who possibly wanted to help relay the bike to Falconer to talk to me to line up what we need to do to get the bike up to Sam. I hate to ask, but could use a few more donations to finish the project.

Problem is since I am doing everything on a design as I go its hard to figure what I need. I just go buy it and I didnt want to go into the labor thing. I also want people to give what they are comfortable giving and if no one gives a dime I will still finish the bike on my own.

It is. I dont want to just go down to ace and pick up a spray can of orange paint and paint it. When this bike is done it will rival any bike you see in a show room of the high end bikes. Also because of safety issues I have to be very sure of the engineering.
Hey 610.

I just was over at the blog and I loved the stickers that you had made. The fact that they are reflective as well is awesome!
Oh yeah, I wanted to ask you what the dimensions of the bike are bronco610. I was hoping that whoever I meet at the swapping point for the bike will be able to meet Sam in person. I am going to be able to get my hands on a van I believe, but if it is too large I will have to use a truck and Sam won't be able to make the trip.

Worked on the seat mounts today. Stormed all day so didnt want to risk gluing the inside panels of the seat in high humidity as it affects the process. As soon as the seat is mounted I will take a picture and measure but I would think a van will be fine.

Long day today. Finally got the seat mounted. Thought about my dad today alot. Why cant I call him and say how do I do this, or that? My wife got home and saw that I was struggling and reminded me today is May 1st. 8 years ago today my Dad died in my arms. This is the guy who taught me to do all this. In reality he is the one responsable for this bike. So today and only today this bike is for my Dad. I have never really got over his death and he was my hero!!!! He was my step father but he is who raised me. All day long I kept hearing while I was welding the supports for the seat, get your stick into it boy!!!! Anyway I have some pictures of the seat on. They dont do it justice as all the supports are not in them. I took a ride with a 60 lb. bag of sand and it handled like a dream. I only have a few minor things like the restraint and a few adjustment on the seat left before paint. In one of the pictures you will notice a cap over the loose material on the edge. This is what the entire edge will look like. I also cut a logo from one of my hats to put where Sams head will rest onto the seat. I got this hat Christmas a couple of years ago when the Broncos went to the AFC championship game to bring Sam good luck and that after a good ride with his head on the Denver logo he will have good dreams.

I guess I should shut up. I actually had 2. My real father I lived with from 10 years old to 15 tears old and my step father to whom I am talking about the rest of the time. My real father and I were more freinds than father and son. He was an over the road trucker. He taught me about rodeos and ranch hands(what he grew up doing) and horses. But it was my step father who really raised me all those other years. When I was in college he made sure ther was no down time. No summer breaks for me. Each year he made me do a different job. One summer as a plumbers apprentice, the next as an electrician app., then carpenter and finally sheet metal and a/c. Because of him there is not much I cant fix in my own house. Plus all the time I spent working on cars and stuff. When I was 8 he taught me how to weld. Obviously I wasnt very good at it but he never lost patience with me. Well, almost never.:wiggle: They are both gone now but I hope they can look down and see how it all turned out.

From wife's blog:
The storms Wednesday night brought down one of the branches of our tree. At first we thought lightning struck it, but looking at it in the daylight we're guessing it was only a bad spot in the branch and the wind gusts were just too much for it. (There were reports of 90 mph gusts in Dallas.)

It has a blown engine anyway, it's been sitting dead for several months... don't ask me why we still have it other than Hubby having grand ideas of making it into a hot rod (yes, you heard me right, he wants to turn his old 4-door OLDSMOBILE into a hot rod... he's been watching the show <em><strong>Overhaulin'</strong></em> too much.)
Also in the bottom pic it's hard to see but there's 3 cats sitting on the car... they all think it's pretty cool that they can play in the tree without all the work of climbing...
Anyway, more firewood for next winter.

There is a God only knows old Cottenwood that the lake road had to go around years ago. Thre is a huge branch just dying to give me a nice insurance check. Or death, or both.
I can tell this tree is old. Un-huggable. This branch is thicker than most tree trunks. Cottonwoods used to line the Missori but were chopped down for steamboat fuel. Cottonwoods are a willow'poplar and don't live forever like an oak. It's just problematic before it falls on me.
Anyway, it's just a matter of time before this neighbor has to pay me when that gigantic branch falls.

It would be a mercifull death for a mobile home worth about 15cents. It's nice inside but an eyesore outside. No way I could put another one there, but it's grandfathered in. People are tearing down perfectly nice homes and building virtual mansions around the lake.
There an ajoining lake to Okoboji the isn't much more than a shallow pond but they are selling townhouses for 295K a pop. It used to just have nothing but a few mobile homes.

Finally, the frame is ready to paint!!! If I knew I would have to fix so much smoothing the frame out to make it look decent I think I might have been a little more careful with the grinder. Fork, seat and rims tomorrow and with any luck and the weather holds, paint tomorrow evening or fri. morning.

Sorry I haven't posted much on here lately, things have just been crazy around here. Our little daughter that is still in the oven is getting really big really quick, and we are going to have to decide what we are going to do.
Samuel also managed to get pretty sick last week, and like a good son he decided to share with his Pa. This week I have been trying to recover, and he managed to get some kind of infection. The doctors still aren't sure what it is, but they have put him on antibiotics and he seems much better today.
The bike is looking so awesome! I also love the helmet. We have just bought him some killer sunglasses to make his outfit complete. I need to get back to exercising so that I can pedal him up some of the hills around here. :strong:

Thats not the half of it. Had to argue with the guy because he mixed the wrong color. Then they replace the base but not the reducer that you have to use. Guess which one costs more. I reach for my wallet and the wife has the pay pal card from when I sent her for something and she has our bank card. Now I cant finish the blue until tomorrow because she doesnt get off til after they close. Arrrrrrrgh!!! Someone make a donation toward beer. Your help was greatly appriciated, I could not have done it with out you or the Mane. Anyone who contributes or doesnt does so because their station in life at the time allows. And of course to Falconer and Sam for allowing me to do this for them! This was as much a gift for me as it was for you. Conklin, hope I didnt talk your ear off to much. It was really great meeting someone from the Mane.
Falconer, please dont hesitate to call me if you need any thing adjusted on the seat or bike or just have questions on how something works.

Sam is out of school after today, and I am taking the rest of the week off work. I will also be off next week as well, as my daughter should be entering the world no later than next Tuesday. !Booya! Conkin and I talked on Monday, and we should have no problem hooking up. He is actually driving all the way to my house to deliver it, so he will get to meet Sam in person. We should be able to get some pics up very soon after the bike gets here. I am also still trying to find a video camera to record Sam in his new bike and upload it to Youtube. I think I will be able to get that worked out tonight.
I would also like to thank each and every one of you again. This really says something about the people who are a part of this community.

My wife always teases me about posting here. Then I showed her this project and she was in awe. Its funny how something like a game that has no direct meaning on our lives can bring people together and something like the can be achieved. bronco610 I can't say it enough, you are a rare breed these days. Let me know if you are still short on funds for this. Money will be stable again soon and I can hit you up with some.

I'm sitting here on pins and needles praying something doesnt go wrong. The harness you sent and the way it goes on the bike are tricky to adjust just right the first time and could be time consuming. Not having Sam here while making the bike and checking the fit and set up at each juncture comes to mind. I hope I am just being paranoid.

Oh man I hope the harness works for him because it was so much like his other one in the picture I thought he would feel comfortable with it. Now I am stressing.

Thanks anyway but I think I will just go get one where I got the last 2. I usually only pay about $30 bucks for one they last for a couple of years and I just pitch them. Just the timing this time was bad. My back yard is begining to look like a jungle.8')

Hey all,
Well, Sam and I had a great ride. He seemed to really enjoy the bike ride. There were plenty of smiles and some good laughs on his first ride. This was a good sign considering it took quite some time to get everything rigged up this first time. Of course I did not have the sense to take it inside and get it all put together, so Sam was kind of hot and tired when we were ready to get going.
This bike is... Wow! That is about all I can say. It rides awesome, and puts Sam in the greatest position. The fact that I could jump right on and not have a problem with it at all, shows how well it is set up and balanced! Scott has done an awesome job.
I would also like to say how enjoyable it was to meet Conklin and his girlfriend. They took many pictures and will be posting them later tonight. I delayed them a little in their trip back, so that we could get a bite to eat and talk a little. I don't get to talk to many fellow Bronco fans in person down here. They also had a lot of good stories to tell me about the games and tailgates. I have to make sure we get to one soon. :~ohyah!:
I will try to get some pictures up in a little bit. Luckily my mother-in-law came by with her camera, so we have a couple that we can post. Although I am sure Conklin has much better ones to share.
