My wife is due in 11 weeks with twins. My daughter will be 3 by then, and I think she will be ok with the lack of attention, etc. Anyone have any advice and or warnings?
Thanks-

My wife always wanted to be a stay at home mom. Now she gets her chance. I have a feeling going to work everyday will seem like a vacation for the first few months.

You Da Man! Your fish can swim!

I can't really give much advice than have someone come in and help with some houshold chores like dishes, laudry, and yuck, diapers.

You might want to ask Spider, who escapes in his rig and has a hardwood floor in his tractor...quite amusing...

Congratulations!

Advice - Earplugs, just kidding. You've had one, so you've learned the drill. Just show them your love and be a big part of their lives. Good luck.

I've got twin girls who are now 4 along with a 6 yr. old boy. No matter all the crazy stuff, you eventually get use to it. Feedings take a bit longer at night, but you adjust quickly, diaper changing becomes like a pit stop and you find yourself timing how fast you get the two changed, or in my case 3 for a while.

The best part is they'll always have a play buddy and you'll find them entertaining each other in no time. Big sister will not only gain two playmates down the road, she'll also be view as royalty for the most part by the twins.

Congratulations and good luck with the little ones. Our twins are now 14.... when they were small, they were like a wrestling tag team; when one was sleeping, the other was wide awake. As Tre said, sleep now. LOL

Thanks-

Many baby product companies (gerber, huggies, infamil, etc) offer special coupon programs for families with multiples (twins or more) to help with the fact you need 2x the formula, diapers, etc.

These arent the typical sunday newspaper coupons, but special ones mailed to your home.

Most of the larger companies have these programs, but you will need to register with each one.

Congrats and good luck!

One other thing I forgot to mention... it's not at all unusual for twins to arrive early. Mine were 4 weeks premature (but still almost 5 and 6 lbs. respectively)... which means you and your wife might not have the full 11 weeks to prepare for the new arrivals.

I thought long and hard about pulling out the old Nelson "Ha ha" laugh for you having twins then thought "well, karma is a little bastard and might stick me in Spider's triplet shoes" so, I will just say congrats on the twins, good luck and lots and lots of prayers.

thanks for all the advice and accolades everyone. We are really excited about it actually. For whatever reason after my daughter was born, we weren't able to have kids naturally anymore. So we went the invetro route. We new they implanted two eggs, but assumed we had a 50/50 shot. Well, both of them took. Just had an ultrasound yesterday and everything is how it should be right now. As many of you know, invetro fertilization is not cheap. I tell my wife that we got a great "2 for the price of 1" deal. She hates that though. Anyway, we are lucky enough to have relatives that decided to throw another baby shower for us, so we are getting a lot of stuff that we will need like double stroller, extra bouncy seat and so on.

Hilarious! So true. Twins run in my family too. My sister is expecting.. I think it would be great if she had twins. My other sister had a set of twins already.. but this is a different sister.

Hey everyone, to update, my twins were born 1 week ago today. 1 boy and 1 girl. Evan Michael and Sadie Marie are there names. Both of them and Mom are home and doing great. We could use more sleep, but who couldn't right. Big sis is really excited about them being home and wants to hold them constantly. Thanks for all your kind words.

I'm late coming to this one, haven't been on the Mane for a while, and mostly lurking. Anyway congrats on the healthy birth. Our twins turned 18 last October. No advice I can give is better than, Love Them, Hold Them, and Enjoy Them. One day you will wake up and they will be 18 and out of high school. Again Congratulations and best wishes to all of you.
