As reported by AS on the NFL Network. Says New Orleans keeps trying to initiate trade talks with Denver for Bly.

Wonder if they would be interested in Al?

MLB 53 Simoneau, Mark 0 Simmons, Brian
WLB 58 Shanle, Scott 0 Wortham, Cornelius

The CB position isn't much better. Wonder if they are trying to position themselves to make a package deal.

I would take Charles Grant and a 3rd round pick.

Stay tuned...

Keep Bly unless it's for an offer we can't refuse. There are only good things that can come from hanging onto him.

i.e. We have no problem dealing Bly, New Orleans, but your offer sucks. Raise it.

I think with the Saints interest in Bly and their lack of talent at MLB and WLB, the only way we will ever get fair compensation for Al right now IF we are dead set on moving him is in a package deal.

I just don't know what we would ask for in return.

Charles Grant is a guy that is sort of maligned in NO. We have a hole at our DE spot which could be a natural fit for us. The copentsation after that would have to be draft wise... tough to say what we SHOULD get. I agree, the longer we wait, the more we will receive. I think Al healthy though should be at least a 2nd. NYG was going to give us a 3rd and we seemed fine with that.

Grant and 3rd for Bly and Wilson? Maybe we package Bly/Wilson, and our second round pick for Grant and the Saints 1st round selection.

Like Shanahan, I'm also "not interested in giving up Bly".

I stick to my previous thoughts, if we can get Bly longer than just this year, keep him. If he's a one year rental, ship him out now. We need players, not stop gaps.

Definitely. Bailey and Bly will keep Shanny from going for a Middlebust for starters.

Bly is going to get a lot of action this year, a lot of opportunities to step up and make big plays. He performs like he should and he'll be spending a lot of time on Sports Center highlight reels.

That's where the downfall comes in... if he performs well, we only get him for this year for sure. We can't afford another star CB. I think the increased opportunities he'll have could and probably will give him a statistical year for the ages if he only performs halfway decent.

We can always tag him, he's making $4.2M in '07, a CB tag is only a couple million more.

I'm interested in moving Bly, but only if we can use him to move up to to a top 6 pick in the draft. Frankly I think Foxworth is a good CB who would do just fine for us.

Oooohhh... the Broncos having someone worthy of the franchise tag, I like it! I'd be afraid of his disgruntledness but I hadn't even thought of that option.

That's not the way Shanahan works just ask Big Money.

I have to admit I really like the thought of Bly and Champ at CB if we stand pat and draft where we are located now. I don't think we will see any of the big defensive linemen fall to us, but we could take a ballhawk like Reggie Nelson or Michael Griffin.

Thinking of the turnovers that would bring is definitely enticing.

It's a pipe dream that we'll land any decent pass-rushers or linemen in this draft who'll be ready to start this year. As for moving up hell no. It's not as if we're one player away, keep the picks and take the best players available.

A really good free safety would make that an awesome secondary. I think we'd get used to hearing "and the **** choose to run it on 3rd and 8" constantly. I could deal with that.

I just don't understand the logic of people that keep talking of us picking a safety with our lone 1st round pick....

We need a pass rush....nothing is a more glaring need for us right now and our top pick should be used to address it......

safety & o-line are areas that could stand to improve but not near to the degree of d-line help.....

we didn't miss the playoffs because of our safety play...we need a pass rush....

New Orleans has the draft picks to give us something sweet for Bly.

They have all their first day picks, plus three fourth rounders (123, 125, 126) which would be really nice to have too.

Give us a second and a fourth, or a third and two fourths and call it a deal.

They have no business to low ball us with a stockpile like that.

The D-line depth is pretty impressive this year and there's not much difference in talent between the guys who should be available at 21 and those who should be there in the 2nd-early 3rd round. Reaching for a need is what led to Shanahan's poor track record in the past, why add to that this year?

We can franchise him in that instance. Then trade him. Even if we let him go after making him an offer we'll get a nice comped pick for him.

That would be the biggest trade in sports since Balitmore sent us number 7.
