We could use his leadership especially with Al possibly leaving, but I'm glad he is staying on as an assistant coach.

I am glad he joined the coaching staff. Now we don't have to worry about cutting him in the preseason.

Mile High Salute, Keith!

A Bronco through and through who year after year, despite "limited" talent, showed people that you can achieve everything you want with heart and determination. My hat goes off to you, Keith!

I'll miss seeing Burnsie start the rocking on the field prior to kickoffs. Hopefully the media still gets a microphone on him every now and then. He's a character.

Now he's my Adopt A Coach...

With Burns retiring it makes that FA signing even better. From everything I've read we got a really good ST's player in Smith.

We need to rebuild our LB core bigtime. Burns was good at special teams and this is good move for the Broncos.

Burns was on the team solely for special teams, he did not provide depth at LB unless some major injuries occurred.

I like this, Burns is a savy STer but he's slowed down a lot and its hurting his production. Having a guy like him to help coach up a young athletic LB like Durant, DeOssie, or Barnes would be awesome.

Here's to ya "Burnsie". A true warrior, who's been with us through good and bad. Good to see he's staying in the family.....

I'm a little ashamed as I kept predicting his demise, but was always premature. He had his niche and clung to it like a pitbull. 14 years is astounding and impressive for a role player. I'm happy they are giving him a shot to get started in the coaching world. I bet he's going to be a slave driver. Ha! I hope we finally started realizing that football has three phases. Now let's get a consistent punter.

I can't remember who it was but I think we brought in a player that is supposedly a STs beast a LB I think much younger. He might seen the writing on the wall and maybe Shanny threw him a carrot and privately told him that he would have a difficult time making the active roster this year with that addition. He was very much liked in the locker room.

Class act all the way around. Good luck Keith!

...and yet another player from the SuperBowl roster is no longer playing for the Orange & Blue. We're down to four.

Thanks for everything KB!

We need to find a Vince Papale in the Denver metro area to suit up for special teams. I just got done watching his movie "invincible" the other day. Great flick.

Burns To Become Assistant Coach For Broncos
(AP) ENGLEWOOD, Colo. Keith Burns won't be returning to the Denver Broncos as a standout special teams player.

Instead, he'll be back as an assistant coach, the Denver Post reported Tuesday.

Burns, who was a free agent, has reportedly decided to retire and join Denver's coaching staff. A message left by The Associated Press for his agent, David Kyle Hardin, was not immediately returned. Team officials declined comment.

Burns, 34, will be helping out Scott O'Brien, who was recently named the Broncos' special teams coordinator. Ronnie Bradford, the special teams coach for the past four seasons, was moved to assistant defensive backs coach on Jan. 29.

Burns was selected by the Broncos in the seventh round of the 1994 NFL draft. The 13-year veteran out of Oklahoma State was in his third stint with the Broncos. He also played a season in Chicago (1999) and in Tampa Bay (2004).

The special teams maven led or tied for the Broncos' in special teams tackles in seven of his 11 seasons with the team. He had a career-best 24 special teams tackles in 2000 and '03. He had 231 special teams tackles in his career.

Burns finished with nine special teams tackles in 2006. He didn't play in the regular season finale against San Francisco because of a broken left hand.
