OK lets say that we dont go through with a trade with any other team and Al Wilson is still a Bronco(which I would LOVE) If Bates still wants to put DJ Williams in the Middle do you think Al could play the strong side effectivly?

Also, suppose Bates doesnt like Al is there a possibility he is BENCHED!!!

I still think with how Al Wilson is a warrior and he plays hurt...if he has time to heal he will be great next season. I want him in the middle again but if DJ is put there I sure hope Al can play the SAM.

Can Al play the SAM?

College Career

Wilson was a four-year letterwinner and three-year starter at Tennessee, where he was team captain as a senior, helping lead the Volunteers to a 13-0 record and the National Championship. Starting at middle linebacker he recorded 77 tackles (54 solos) with four sacks (-41) and six stops for losses (-7). Wilson was a second-team All-America selection by Football News, American Football Coaches Association and the Football Writers Association, and was a first-team All-Southeastern Conference pick. He was an Associated Press second-team All-SEC selection as a junior, starting at left outside linebacker and also calling the defensive signals. Wilson also started at left outside linebacker as a sophomore. He majored in educational business training.

Wilson would be a great fit for SAM. He's the best pass rushing LB we have and his coverage skills are still solid even if his ball skills have deteriorated.

Keeping him would also really help ease DJ's transition to MLB if that is the ultimate plan.

It's about just moving him. It's about AW taking a pay cut and if he can play with the neck and thump injuries.

Only the doctors know how good or bad his neck condition is and if he can be effective in the future.

Wilson will stay at MLB the big change will be that DJ will stay in on the Nickle package an Wilson will go to the sideline.

This is a huge point that I have not seen mentioned before.

God knows DJ will need all the help he can get with the mental aspect of the position.
