He needs to score that much for the lake to have a chance just about every night. Looks like they will make the playoffs and he might get mvp run too.

So I can call him what I want. He is a ball hog. He is a good ball hog but he is a ball hog. Lord knows there are ball hogs who are not good. But ball hog all the same.

Kobe is very good, and its a shame that he hurt his image as much as he's had. He's possibly the most skilled basketball player since Larry Bird. If you really look at him, he's not as quick or fast as some of the other guys in the nba like lebron, tmac, wade, carter, and the list goes on.

He's not close to as explosive as MJ, he can't jump as high or run as fast. But he's damn good, top 10-20 all time good. He can finish pretty freakin far from the hoop on the left hand.

I think he's good because he works hard, and I always respect that. There are so many bigger, faster guys in the NBA, whereas Kobe mostly about his work ethic and mentality. If Kobe kept a clean image, he would've been the perfect NBA icon for kids to look up to. Unfortunately thats not the case.

When he was younger he was a ball hog. But now... I really think his team is crap to the point where I don't know who he would pass it to... Smush Parker?

I don't know why some of you can't just acknowledge Kobe is a badass. I don't remember people bitching when Jordan was scoring 40 a night. Kobe makes it look so ****ing easy (not that Jordan didn't). Seriously, give credit where credit is due.

Something tells me he will be doing lots of scoring in New Orleans. I just hope he can accept a No if he hears it this time....

Why, because he was caught in a compromising situation with a chick? Happens more than you'd like to admit in professional sports. Sab but true.

Kobe is the best player in the NBA.

Dont be ridiculous.

Great players make those around them better.

Kobe just makes himself look good. I couldnt name a single person on his team other than him.

Meanwhile that crap that played with Jordan went on to very unspectacular careers without him yet I could name most of the players on that team. He made them all better. Kobe is playing a one man game in a team game league.

You are an idiot. LOL

Scottie Pippen was a kickass defensive player.

And a pretty damn good offensive player as well.

For the most part the Bulls won with defense.......

For the most part that is...D plus an influx of Jordan when it mattered.

One superstar, one damn good player, a bunch of role players to compensate....

Equals numerous NBA championships.

Wake up for Christ's sakes.

Although i understand what your saying it is a bit of different situation with Kobe than it was with Mike. Mike had to essentially build his team and get them on the same page to win those championships. Kobe had a lot of help early in his career to gain his rings and thus now doesnt really care about winning the big one anymore. At least not on a large scale. But if you were to look at him just as a player there is no one better. He cant be stopped when he wants to play. His team around him does suck and he knows it. But i believe he is just chasing records now and doesnt care about the rings that much anymore. But as you can see he can score almost at will on anyone any given night. Jordan is the best of alltime but Kobe is without a doubt the best in the NBA right now.

Best in the NBA, not even close.

Steve Nash,Dwane Wade (when healthy),Dirk,Duncan all can claim to be the best.

Kobe's shooting percentage always is around 46% this with him at the top, or damn near, the league lead in attempts.

While others are at the same, or more efficent, with less attempts.

Kobe is a scorer that all. He's the Lakers version of AI.

He's also a Jordan wanna be.......... Kobes has thrown teammates and coach Phil uner the bus so many times it's sad. He's classless, his off the court actions aside, he has been suspended twice this year for throwing the elbows.

MJ sold the league. Kobe sells himself.

You know, under normal circumstances, I would agree in saying that he's a ballhog. You shouldn't have guys jacking up 35-40 shots a night.

BUT, in this case, the Lakers were on a 6 or 7 game losing streak, and then Kobe decided to put the team on his back and go off, and they've won the past 4 games.

So, he's doing what he has to do to win, IMO. He's amazing.

You guys bash him no matter what he does. Guy goes for 50 and he is a ballhog. If he scores only 20 you say he is being selfish to prove a point to th Lakers management to get better players around him. What did Kobe have your women too or something!

Those guys can claim to be the best all they want, kobe is a game changer and every team he plays against keys on him...ie double and triple team him because the rest of the Lakers suck. Kobe's stat line reads:

30.8 ppg 1st in the NBA
5.8 rebounds pg 4th on the lakers
5.5 assists pg FIRST on the Lakers
1.42 steals pg 2nd on the lakers

What more does this guy have to do with crappy players around him to prove he is the best player in the league? being suspended 2 times has nothing to do at all with his playing ability. Watch him play the game.

Larry Bird only shot 47.2 % for his entire career.

Are you comparing Kobe Bryant to Larry Bird?

Willynowei
03-25-2007, 10:02 AM
I don't get what shooting percentages have to do with anything here. 46% is great for a 2 guard. Shaq and Yao both have higher efficiency ratings than any other player in the NBA, they had it in their respective careers, and will have it for the forseeable future. Thats just their playing style.

What shooting percentages have to do with anything I really don't know. It only tells you about a players shot selection. Kobe's drawing nearly 10 fouls a game, which is more effective than any shooter could ever do. Hitting jumpers doesn't get the opposing team in foul trouble.

I think that the best player in the NBA today is Kobe, and that its been that way for a long time. However, compared to MJ, he's not as dominant, but who is?

MJ was a better rebounder, defender and more willing passer. Kobe can't be the defender MJ was simply due to athleticism. MJ was very effective at blocking, and used his leaping ability to get a lot of steals. Kobe though plays great man on man, but he's older now, and much less effective. WIth that said, Kobe is offensively more skilled than even MJ. I completely disagree with anyone who says that its not even close, I think its fairly close.

Quite possibly the dumbest thing I have ever heard anyone say.

Anyway Jordan was a ball hog.

And if you know anything about Jordan you'd know that he didn't win one championship until pippen came along.

Now look at Kobe's team:

Smush Parker (uhh enough said) crap.

Luke Walton ( I like him a lot, great potential)

Kwame Brown ( POS )

Lamar Odom ( he's good, but no pippen.)

and of course Kobe Bryant ( he may be a ballhog, but when he was spreading it around and getting 7 - 8 assists per game they lost 6 in a row, then won a game and lost 7 in a row.)

So clearly he has to do what he has to do to get some wins. Because we all know that he can't give it to Kwame or Smush on a consistent basis, or even Odom for that matter.

Also, take Kobe away from the Lakers and they are the worst team in the NBA and I don't think anyone can dispute that.

Ya and Carmello got suspended for 15 games because he sucker punched some guy. Is he now classless and a pos? No, he made a mistake and so did Kobe. Everyone makes mistakes it's just theirs get televised and blown out of preportion.

Also 46% is not a bad shooting percentage at all.

And for you to even compare Dwayne Wade to Kobe is ridiculous to me.

Kobe has like 11 years in the NBA Dwayne has what, 3? The only reason he won a championship is because guess who is on his team now, Shaq.

Anyway you obviously just dislike Kobe no matter what he does.

Go kobe! You are the best! You can't even turn your team into true winners with Phil Jackson as your head coach! You are so great. So what if Labron can get 5 times as many assists and rebounds per game. So what if you can't play a lick of D and can't make the players around you better. You are the best. GOOOO Kobe!.
