Wilson would play outside, Pierce inside

One quick update for you regarding the potential trade for Al Wilson.
I've been told by someone familiar with the Giants' plans that Wilson would be an outside linebacker if the team acquired him. That means Antonio Pierce would remain the man in the middle instead of moving to the weak side as I thought in my last blog.
We'll see how this one develops. Maybe things would change once both players got on board and the team re-evaluates the situation. But I can tell you that, as of now, the team is planning on moving Wilson to the weak side and keeping Pierce, whose production last season was hampered by a nagging knee injury, inside.
Also, I'm hearing the NFL Network's report has sent alarms off around the league for teams that were shocked to hear this thing was almost done. Those teams apparently still want a crack at Wilson. So don't go buy those blue jerseys with No. 56 on them just yet.
Oh wait...56 is retired, isn't it?...MG

Do you think the Giants are fitting a round peg in a square hole by playing Wilson outside?

Good! More teams interested only means better for us.

Are that many teams in the league looking for a middle linebacker?
I hope that this means Wilson is worth A LOT and Denver gets compensated as such.

This is like the Joey Porter move by the Steelers. The best years are behind Al Wilson and the Broncos don't think he is value for money. Although the best years are behind Wilson he will bring leadership to the Giants.

It's a testament to Wilson's skill and athleticism that he stays in nickle packages and has kept an overrated triangle numbers guy like DJ on the bench on passing downs.
If the trade does go down then some team is getting one helluva football player.
I'm sure the D-players will miss the weekly dinner nite outs that Al Wilson selflessly organized (and paid for) to keep the D tight.
Now watch Denver trade Wilson and use the picks to draft the next MoClo, Watts, Pierce, Toviessie, Foster etc!
Yes I reserve the right to b*tch about this trade before it goes down and the picks are drafted!

I should have seen the writing on the wall when the new coaching staff were introduced to the media and bashed Wilson's play.

Update On Al Wilson; Other Notes

Al Wilson - Denver Broncos
Well this quiet week is finally heating up. I’ve been busy lately and haven’t had a chance to update you guys on Giants rumors and news lately but Dan has been doing a great job of getting the information out. Well this is what I have as of right now, cell phone has been pretty quiet lately, starting with the Broncos and Giants trade talks:
- The Broncos spoke about Justin Tuck and draft picks in the Dre Bly trade talks. Now Tuck is the centerpiece of the Wilson talk. Apparently the Broncos opening offer was to swap first rounders, the Giants 4th rd pick, and Justin Tuck. The Giants want the offer toned down, but the two sides aren’t far apart like they were in the Bly talks.
- Vonta Leach is likely to become a Giant. The Texans love him, but think the Giants are overpaying for a fullback.
- R.W McQuarters is indeed on the trading block. The Giants want to keep Madison as the veteran presence in the secondary and give Webster one more shot to live up to the expectations. They are set on drafting a defensive back on day 1.
- Names I’ve heard linked to the Giants with regards to the first round of the draft (and no not through those ridiculous Mel Kiper and co. “draft guru’s”):
LBs: Paul Posluszny, Patrick Willis, Lawerence Timmons
CBs: Chris Houston, Darelle Revis, Eric Wright
OT: Levi Brown, Joe Staley
Apparently, Reese really likes Levi Brown, but feels this is the draft to build up the defense and can afford to pass on him with Diehl as a solid option at LT
We’ll see what happens.
--------------------------------
I really thought Denver would get a fair shot at Kiwinuka, but I guess the Broncos don't even value Wilson that high if they didn't even bother asking for Kiwi. It looks like from this, we value Wilson at as a mid/late second round pick, which sounds about right, i but i hoped for better.

Link? That doesn't make any sense at all.

Here you go mock, got it off the Giant's messageboard. Apparently no one there thinks that Wilson is worth Kiwinuka, and most value him as a third round pick.
I think Wilson's worth more than that, but maybe us Denver fans are more hopeful with his value than we should be.

Why don't we just have Wilson move outside here, DJ inside and replace GOLD?!?
