Ok, I am bored .... what do you think we can expect from Cutler in 07? Please try to stay halfway realistic :)

Cutlerīs 9 TD, 5 INT, 1001 yard performance with a .591 completion percentage got him a passer rating of 88.5. Peyton Manning led the NFL with a 101.0 rating and the fifth ranked guy, Tony Romo, had a rating of 95.1.

If you want to calculate your own based on your predicted stats, go here (http://footballguys.com/qbrating.htm)

In his five '06 games, his passer rating was 88.5... with more experience, I'd expect a modest improvement over that, so maybe the 90-100 range would be a good "ballpark" guesstimate.

I voted 85-90, but I'd say between 85 and 95. :)

Not sure of his passer rating but in Elway's second year he lead us to a 13-3 record in the regular season.

That's the only rating I care about as well.

Well, if your QB does well, so in most cases does the team or at the very least the Offense.

The NFL will have to reconfigure it's passer ratings. 283.2. It's a mock's lock.

I think Cutler is going to be one of those quarterbacks who has a mid 80's passer rating that doesn't nearly do justice to just how good he really played.

higher than plummers ???

Wins, losses are all that matters. Lots of 2-yard TD passes to Scheffler and the rating goes way up. Travis Henry bangs in from close range and the rating goes down. So who really gives a crap? Just get the ball in the end zone and win. Real rating: 12-4.

Huh? He rolled an 88.5 out of the gate. It doesn't matter if he threw a couple 2 yard TD's...it sure as hell beat our pathetic goal line running game.

I tried not to be a homer and put 85-90.

It's been posted on another thread that rookie QB's, including some of the best ever, have slipped their 2nd year. Teams have more game film to study and spend more time designing strategies for them than they did the first time around. Maybe the player has expectations that things will come much easier and they don't for a while...whatever. Based on improved talent around him and what we saw last year though, I'd have to say over the course of the whole year he'll break 90. Wins and losses will have more to do with whether this defense falls apart in the second half of the season again though.

That's kind of where I was. He won't complete a lot of passes but they'll all be for huge gains and scores so it will not be friendly to the completion-happy QB rating.

meh.
Bronco QB highest season ratings
Elway-93.0
Griese-102.9
Plummer-91.2

The only one that translated into championships is a career 79 passer. Who would you rather have?

I couldn't guess what his passer rating might be, but it will definately be higher than Plummer.

He'll be perfect. If the receivers not open, he'll stick it in their ass cracks. They won't need their hands to catch...

I can only tell you the Broncos had better get some protection for this kid or we might be hoping Ramsey's failure in Washington & New York was just bad coaching.

90-95 id he can stay upright.

He was flat on his ass for most of last season and still posted 88.5 as a rookie. If his protection improves then you could argue that 90-95 is a conservative estimate - particularly if you add Henry and Graham to the equation.....

Yeah seriously. People act like the guy is going to get broken in two or something the next time he gets sacked.

Cutler is a good athlete, and is built like a college LBer. If he's afraid of getting hit or letting that affect his performance then he should have chosen ballet instead.

Thankfully, he's proved he's a gamer after all the hits he took in Vandy. OL protection is part of it. A good running game and (more importantly) Cutler releasing the ball when he should instead of playing like he did in Vandy (hanging onto to it to force a pass) will be a big part of it.

Don't get me wrong, I admire that toughness but in the pro game you have to release the ball before the pass rush gets to you.

Passer rating means nothing if we don't get the win. It meant nothing to me with Plummer and won't mean anything with Cutler...

I agree with that. Another Denver QB was very similar in that regard.

The advantage that Cutler has early in the game is nobody can game plan him. They don't know what he can or cannot do. The Broncos should pull out all stops and put away at least one championship.

Passer rating:88 -- It won't be because the kid can't play.
