SCOTTSDALE - A Seattle Seahawks player faces charges of driving under the influence and possession of marijuana after his Tuesday morning arrest in downtown Scottsdale.

Jerramy Stevens, the NFL team's starting tight end, was taken into police custody around 2:30 a.m. after he admitted to drinking "four or five margaritas" at the Salty Senorita bar on Scottsdale Road, according to police.

Stevens, 27, was also cited for possession of marijuana after officers found a portion in his back pocket, police said.

The free-agent tight end, who is currently being courted by Seattle and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, was visibly intoxicated, according to the Scottsdale police report.

Stevens was pulled over for driving erratically along Indian School Road near 81st Street in a rented 2007 Chrysler 300 sedan. The arresting officer said Stevens' eyes were "bloodshot, watery and half-closed."

"As (Stevens) exited the truck he dropped his cellphone and wallet on the ground, bent down to pick them up, then stutter-stepped as he started to walk in my direction," the report said.

Stevens, a resident of Bellevue, Wash., was taken to Scottsdale Police District 1 headquarters after he refused a portable Breathalyzer test. Officers obtained a search warrant and eventually drew two vials of blood around 5 a.m.

It was unclear Tuesday what Stevens' blood-alcohol content was during the Tuesday morning incident. He was booked, posted bail and faces an initial court appearance on April 2, police said.

Stevens was charged with drunk driving in Seattle in the Seattle area in 2003 after police found two half-empty champagne bottles on the floor of his vehicle during a traffic stop.

In 2001, while playing at the University of Washington, Stevens was charged with hit-and-run after he crashed his car into a Seattle retirement home.

In 2000, he was accused of drugging and raping a 19-year-old girl at the university. The charges were dropped.

Stevens' other past run-ins with police include a 1998 incident in which he broke a man's jaw with a baseball bat.

Here we go again!!!! Maybe Raiders have a shot at him now. You know Rhodes gets busted, gets a deal from OAk, Now maybe Stevens also. These players blowing it in FA year is very funny and makes their choices less. He's a sure fire fit for Oakland now. Him and RHodes can roll together!!!!!

I thought Stevens came out the year Graham got drafted? But yeah I know what you mean he seems really cool. We could use a baseball bat wielding, drunk pot smoker to help us get over the hump.

hmmm, refuse the portable breathalizer and get blood drawn hours later. Do I understand that right?

Yep, that's how they do it out here. If Mr. Stevens was drinking right before he got pulled over, which I'm sure he was, his BAC will probably end up being higher than it would have been had he just taken the Breathalyzer initially.

Why isn't he still in prison for this?

I was thinking the other way around. If you are borderline that time could be enough for you to pass.

You know, if I'm an NFL player, going into free agency, when there is an average of $14 million per team available under the CAP - well, you know, I'm going to go drink and drive with pot in my back pocket. DUH! Who wouldn't do that?

Bloodshot eyes? Staggering around? dropping his stuff on the ground? I doubt he was borderline. That two hours isn't going to help him a bit. BA content may even be higher. NFL needs to ask for a blood test today!;D

I knew he was a jerk with not enough talent to get away with it but i didn't know that he hit a man in the face with a baseball bat, or that he was accused of drugging and raping a girl. Jesus, man. He's gotta go.

Wow, you get excited easily.

so you have some sort of problem with me using an exclamation point? Was that question mark ok for you? oops there I go again. By the way when I took creative writing they taught me it is used to convey astonishment also. So in this case I showing that I find it astonishing anyone would blow their FA payday. I also find it astonishing someone would bother to comment on someones choice of punctuation marks.
