Looking through the Proday results there are some guys that really stood out number-wise:These are guys who I never heard of but stood out to me through their numbers one way or another. Could anyone tell me more about these guys?
Carl Berman, Indiana State WR: Berman (5-9 1/8, 166) worked out at Notre Dame, but unlike the Fighting Irish players, he ran indoors on FieldTurf. He ran two 40s in 4.29 and 4.35 seconds, the short shuttle in 4.26 and the three-cone drill in 6.81. He also had a 38½-inch vertical jump, a 10-foot-9 broad jump and 14 bench presses.
D.D. Terry, Sam Houston State RB/DB: Until August 2006, Terry (6-0 5/8, 196) was a LB/DB until he was moved to offense. He missed the first game of the 2006 season for disciplinary reasons, but over the 10 remaining games, he rushed for 1,328 yards and 15 touchdowns (including a long run of 74 yards), and he caught 22 passes for 237 yards and one touchdown. He was not invited to the combine. At his pro day, he performed drills with the running backs and the defensive backs. He ran 4.40 and 4.42 in the 40, had a vertical jump of 38½ inches, a 10-foot-1 broad jump and 12 strength lifts.
- Can he be a 3rd down/recieving RB? Has anyone seen him?
Jacoby Jones, Lane WR: Jones (214 pounds) ran the 40-yard dash in 4.50 and 4.51 on grass outdoors. He stood on the rest of his numbers from the Scouting Combine.
- I have heard of Jones but I still know little about him.
Courtney Brown, San Jose State DB: The Cal-Poly SLO product worked out at San Jose as part of their pro day and he really stood out with eye-popping numbers. He originally started school there as a wide receiver and was moved to DB in 2004. Brown (6-1 3/8, 200) ran two 40s, notching a 4.35 and 4.32. He had a vertical jump of 41 ½ inches, a 10-foot-11 broad jump, a 4.07 short shuttle, a 7.10 three-cone and 15 bench presses.
Aaron Cotteral, Lenoir-Rhyne LB: Cotteral (6-0½, 226) ran his 40s in 4.50 and 4.53 seconds, the short shuttle in 4.54 and the three-cone drill in 7.24. He also had a 31½-inch vertical jump, a 9-foot-8 broad jump and 25 bench presses. (Lenoir-Rhyne is an NCAA Division II program in Hickory, N.C.)
Victor Worsley, North Carolina LB: Worsley (6-0¾, 234) ran the 40-yard dash in 4.59 seconds, the short shuttle in 4.30 and the three-cone drill in 7.19. He also had a 37½-inch vertical jump, a 10-foot-4 broad jump and 23 bench presses.
Eric Wright, UNLV DB: Wright (5-10 5/8, 192) stood on all the marks he posted during the Combine (40s in 4.36 and 4.37; short shuttle in 4.23; three-cone drill in 6.93; 36½-inch vertical jump; 10-foot-3 broad jump; 17 lifts). He did only drills on campus, and the scouts say he was absolutely fantastic. Wright did have off-field problems when he attended Southern California that prompted him to transfer to UNLV. This wasn't confirmed, but the word was Kansas City coach Herm Edwards was going to have a personal meeting with him.
Todd Dane, Nebraska FB: Dane (5-11 3/8, 235) ran both of his 40s in 4.30, the short shuttle in 4.25 and the three-cone drill in 7.35. He also had a 33-inch vertical jump and an 8-foot-9 broad jump.
- It was reportedly a very fast track, but still.... a guy who weighs 235 running a 4.30?
Keyunta Dawson, Texas Tech DE: Dawson (6-1 1/8, 272), a second-team all-Big 12 choice last season, pulled his hamstring while running the 40 in 4.72 seconds. He also had a 33½-inch vertical jump and a 9-foot-6 broad jump.
- I'm particularly interested in him as it looks like he has good size and speed. Apparently his production was good enough to get him on a big-12 team....
Dedrick Harrington, Missouri LB: Harrington (6-3 1/8, 248) ran his 40s in 4.68 and 4.72 seconds, the short shuttle in 4.28 and the three-cone drill in 6.90. He had a 35-inch vertical jump, a 9-foot-11 broad jump and 26 bench presses.
- Good size and some very good short area quickness numbers. Add in the 26 bench presses and he has the measurables to be a great MLB. How did he perform though?
Laurent Robinson, Illinois State WR: Robinson performed the drills, and stood on his Combine performances. (In Indy, he measured 6-2 and 199 pounds. He ran his 40s in 4.38 and 4.39 seconds, the short shuttle in 4.28 and the three-cone drill in 6.85. He also had a 39-inch vertical jump, a 10-foot-7 broad jump and 19 bench presses.)
