This is pretty cool, if you have 9 minutes to go through it. I can get nine out of fifteen, and three more are on the tip of my tongue. Can anyone fill in the ones I missed? Where's Hogan when we need him?

I want to put world party - all the young dudes in for #4, but I'm just not positive. Rep to whomever can get the ones I missed.

#6 sounds so familiar, but I can't place it. I hate that feeling of "just barely out of reach"...Ha!

#4 sounds like is goes along with Kiss' "God Gave Rock n' Roll to You." Although I've only heard the song live, I don't think that is them for some reason. Now that I think of it, I believe they covered that song from another group...I have no idea who though, i'd have to look it up.

Well, since the Orangemane has been blocked from my access at work (thanks sexy avatars/sigs & speaking of Butts thread) I've lost roadrunner capabilities, which makes something like this on home dial up, one lengthy exercise to say the least.

If #4 is some sort of cover of "All The Young Dudes", that's a pretty liberal reading of it. Personally, I don't think it is.

#7 is Pink Floyd I think, but it has to be something from the post-Waters period. I recognize the sound but cannot place it (but know it's not from SOYCD).

They call #12 a guitar solo? ???

As for the rest, I got pretty much what you got. Given the obivous leanings of this quiz, I have to think the ones not guessed have to be some pretty faceless hair metal of some sort....stuff like that was a dime a dozen in the 80's as you know.

I agree. #12 sounds like a Sabbath tune but I cant quite put my finger on it.

#12 is very Floydish.

#2 I'm unsure about, but the acoustic in the background is definatly, without a doubt the guitar from Pigs on a Wing from Pink Floyds 1977 album Animals.

#7 Isn't Pink Floyd, it's David Gilmour, the song is On an Island. I suggest any floyd fans go out and buy this album, it's damn good.

Bowie might be right, but 7 is solo Gilmour. The song is On an Island.

#4 is "God Gave Rock and Roll to You" by Bill and Ted. They saved the world and shaped the future when they played that song at the battle of the bands. Wyld Stallions! :militia:

Good choices, and Jessica is a show-stopper, but the real Allmans guitar solo "tour de force" is actually "Ramblin' Man." Obviously that was a Top 40 hit, but the long version has a remarkable 2-part solo .... as does Boston's "Hitchin' a Ride."

#7 must be David Gilmour - or Floyd. If it's not, it's an imitator.

The singer's voice trailing off on #11 sounds like Bryan Adams.

Kiss - God Gave Rock 'n' Roll to You II

Unless they covered it. But their's is the only version I've heard of that song.

EDIT: Could be Argent, haven't heard that version...just Kiss.

Yeah, it's definately the Argent version in that recording...clearly sounds like it's out of the 60's. The Kiss version sounds more polished than that one.

Is the original Argent recording simply called "God Gave Rock 'n' Roll to You", and when Kiss remade it, they added the "II"?
