Turner staying

Running backs coach Bobby Turner has decided to stay with the Broncos. He interviewed for the Dolphins' offensive coordinator job last month. Turner has been the running backs coach for all 12 of Shanahan's seasons as Denver's head coach.

Monday, after signing a five- year contract with the Broncos, running back Travis Henry called Turner "special."

Turner is going to end up in the Ring of Fame if he keeps staying with the Broncs and not moving on to other jobs.

Thank God. Turner is the best RB coach in the game. If we need to, we should give him an assistant head coach title.

Seems like we have gotten most of the heavy lifting done. On to the war room and give Bates some new toys.

I've always wondered why this very talented coach hasn't moved up in Denvers' coaching ranks...maybe a ceremonial title or something.

Perhaps someone saw a note, or untterance from the new Miami staff about a new OC...or that Turner didn't get the job...I haven't heard a thing until now.

Very curious for a whole lot of reasons.

great news!!!

We need Henry over 1500 yards next season, and with Turners great coaching, I see it happening.

Well, this should help Henry out. He doesnt know how good he is going to have it in Denver. Kubiak stayed forever and it is nice Turner is keeping his home in Mile High. I just hope Bradford doesnt get the same feeling around the front office.

I must admit that as great a RB coach Turner is, I'm worried that he might be getting a little stale staying in the same place doing the same job for so long.

Some guys are happy with that, but not many in the NFL. Plus he does seem to keep going for jobs and not getting them.

It seems clear that he doesn't want to leave Denver unless its for a better job, but I'm wondering if the fates of the running game recently and the high-profile screw-up that was Maurice Clarrett (which Shanny publicly credited to Turner right after the draft, before anybody found out what a douchebag he was) have taken the shine off his status in Denver.

He's clearly valued for what he does, but it seems that the view in Denver (and possibly around the league ) is that he's a great RB coach who ISN'T suited to taking on more responsibility.

I'm glad he's staying but I can't shake off a slight knawing worry from the back of my mind.....hope I'm wrong

Turner and co just took an undrafted rookie RB and turned him into 4.3 average, 8 TD running back that logged almost 700 yards as a backup, even with our starting tackles missing and our passing game taking a huge nose dive.

Bell pretty much outperformed almost every other back taken ahead of him in a draft class loaded with RB talent.

You're wrong!

Just before Bobby announced this, Cam Cameron mentioned to reporters that he might be interested in doing the OC job himself. I think Bobby just saw that he was getting jerked around. Good for us! I've never heard a coach talk about the running game the way Bobby does. He's the Zen master of the run, the backfield Yoda - "Come, young Skywalker. See the field with your inner eyes. Use the force."

And I don't want a new adoptee.

I think you misinterpreted me a little bit - I was talking about how Turner is percieved within the Broncos organisation rather than how good he actually is. True, I may be overlooking the fact that yet again he's taken a no-name and turned him into a player, but maybe I'm not the only one overlooking that kind of achievement when the guy churns it out so regularly - people can get taken for granted.

To be fair though, most of the time Turner's gone for another job he's ended up getting dicked around to the max - seems like people want to get him on board for his RB coaching skills and try to spin him a yarn about having greater responsibilities when in reality he won't get that.

I'm just worried that this valuable coach may be in danger of becoming disenchanted - but as I said I HOPE I was wrong so I'm not offended by anybody suggesting that I am! :flower:

Turner is signed and well compensated.
