Wilkinson to retire?
A source said the Dolphins are concerned that defensive tackle Dan Wilkinson might decide to retire rather than play in Denver, which would nullify a Saturday trade that netted a sixth-round draft pick from the Broncos for the 13-year NFL veteran.
The Dolphins weren't able to immediately contact Wilkinson to inform him about the trade because he is on a cruise.
During a Tuesday interview with Broncos media posted on the team's Web site, Denver defensive line coach Bill Johnson said the franchise spoke with Wilkinson's agent and "assume" he wants to play.
"We're in the process of getting in touch with him this week," Johnson said. "It looks like he's still got a lot of juice in his body. ...
"I think once he gets back and sees what we have here and how we're going to use him, I think he'll be excited about it."

I really hope Wilkinson does retire....I hate this trade. The Dolphins would have cut him if they couldn't trade him.

We have upgraded two positions without over spending. Meanwhile the Broncos are paying a TE the most money ever payed a TE. He's not even a top 5 TE.

I guess the players union needs to start with a "this a contract" speech all over again. All these retirements. It's a wonder the coaches doesn't quit and go home. Well they could always coach the Chiefs. That is about as close to being retired and still being in coaching. All those offensive weapons! You don't even have to know anything about football to coach the Chiefs.

I'm not sure what that says about the coaching staff in Denver. But it's not much of an endorsement, I'm guessing.

I know. Doesn't that suck! What if you guys actually had a coach with a brain or Carl Peterson suddenly retired? Broncos would actually have to play four quarters or something.
Thanks for getting to the playoffs and getting humiliated instead of us. I don't think getting to the playoffs would mean anything to us after awhile if one of place marker teams didn't hold the slot once in awhile. Great job!

The Chiefs didn't back into the playoffs...the Broncos backed out. The Chiefs went into the playoffs winning games.
As for the game against your retired QB, let's put that back into perspective for you. Though Shanny had already named Cutler the starter, he elected to put Plummer in that game because he was afraid to put Cutler in for his 1st start in Arrowhead.
I don't know why Shanny named him the starter for the following week before the Chiefs game, but hey that's probably some of that "offensive genius" stuff you guys are always talking about.ROFL!

Bly isn't exactly a happy camper either. I am warming up to the idea that we sign this Macklin guy as the nickel back. Move Foxy to starter -- which I thought he deserved after Darrent passed anyway -- and then fleece the Skins again.
I keep hearing the argument that the Skins don't need Bly with Smoot and Rodgers -- but well they didn't need really need him before either as they had Springs. Snyder is the type that gets zeroed in on someone he wants. Maybe it happens maybe it doesn't, but I don't think Smoot means they won't go after Bly.

Getting back on topic, because who cares about the Chiefs. I hope Wilkinson plays one more year. We have been terrible at DT for a few years now. Big Daddy may not be the answer, but compared to what we have been trying to clog the holes with in the past he is worth a 6th rounder.

I don't buy the idea that they can't get in touch with Wilkerson. That's a crock. Cruise ships are easy to connect with. The agent in this case is stalling for some time. The question is...why? I'm guessing Big Fatty took a look at the sorry state of our defensive line, and figured he might actually have to play in the games, then noticed the obscene money we're paying Daniel Graham and the Dre Bly fiasco and putting 2 and 2 together he figured he might be able to buy himself a contract renegotiation with a page from Jake Plummer's book. Why not? He nabbed $154,000 per tackle last year so clearly it's time he upgraded his pay scale a bit.
No worries...he'll sign.

I'm guessing Big Daddy doesn't want to go through the grind of another season of offseason workouts. Grady Jackson who is also a large human who played for Jim Bates and the Packers signed with the Atlanta Falcons last year during the exhibition season. Why did he sign so late when there was early interest? Jackson didn't want to go through the grind of offseason workouts.
...or he feels he is done or he doesn't want to start over by moving again.

Let's get a few things straight here............noboby is the new Raiders of the division, those dogs still earn that spot. They flat out suck.
We might have overpaid for Grahmn sure, but it's better to overpay a really solid player a little then pay somebody a normal contract that can't produce at all. All teams have those players and usually quite a few.
The Cheifs fans are seeing these events unfold and ****ting in their pants. Sure they come on here and talk it down some but they know, they know all too well what's going on. It's looking more obvious then ever Shanny is saving his picks for some studs at DL. From coaches to new players, Denver is improving fast and that scares the Chiefs fans, they know they won't see the playoffs again for many years.

You can't just wait for a team to cut a guy. What if they don't cut him until June, Is Denver just going to wait around for that to happen? NO. If he is cut by Mioami there have been several teams that would want a vet DT what makes you think he would have signed with Denver after he was cut?
It's not as simple as you want it to be. Props to the Broncos for seeing what they want and going out and getting it.

Oh yeah and just to let you know Graham's contract is not the highest for a TE, Gonzo's is still more when you look at the structure of the deal.
And as for your rambling, what have the Chiefs done in recent years that makes you so boisterous. I mean they are average at best. You make the playoffs this year only to be bounced out in a matter of minutes. Your so-called run game sputters against the worst run defense in the league. Larry Johnson hops a plane within minutes after the loss to be with Jay-Z instead of his teammates. And now word is that the veterans want Larry Johnson gone from the team. Never mind that LJ was telling everybody that had ears at the Pro-Bowl that he would love to play in NY or Cleveland.
You guys signed N.Harris who was a reject from the Vikings. He couldn't beat out EJ Henderson or D.Thomas, the latter considered to be a scrub for the Vikings til Greenway went down with an ACL. Yeah real big improvememts happening in KC.
I won't say much about Carl Peterson, he's made some good/some bad decisions, but I'm sorry your Coach is BRUTAL. How this guy gets a job year in and year out is beyond me.
