NFL Network's Adam Shefter reports that the Broncos have asked for Ladell Betts in exchange for Dre' Bly.

The Broncos are also reportedly talking to the Saints. Other reports say Denver is interested in Washington's first-round pick.

What sense would it make to trade for Betts when we just signed Henry to a fairly large deal? Maybe they asked for him before the Henry signing.

I dont understand the desire for another RB, but i'm not working at Dove Valley so..........

This just smacks of Shanny spin. Put out as much info as you can and lay a smoke screen for your moves.

Why? we just signed Henry. Is Bettes better than Henry? I have got to be honest. I don't know much about bettes skills.

I could see us positioning for next years draft which should have some great backs available.

Betts is a solid runner, and has shown some flashes. There must be another team involved to ask for another RB. Three way trade. Unless they are releasing Mike Bell, which I don't see happen because of success he had and the low cost of his contract.

Betts is good, clearly outplayed Portis last year. Was a real fool and signed a five-year extension for a little under $12M before the season ended. Despite that, I'm very comfortable with Mike Bell being the backup.

You guys are assuming Shanahan asked for Betts within the last 24 hours, more likely he asked for Betts before Henry came to an agreement, and they no longer have any interest in LB.

Maybe Shanny wants to trade Dre Bly for Ladell Betts.

And then trade Travis Henry to the Titans for Pacman Jones.

yeah, this clearly clearly will never happen

This makes very little sense.

IF Bell is backup.

What's up with the Betts thing anyway...and Dre' Bly KNOWS that ball is coming his way...why wouldn't you want to be on a team with Bailey on the other side....

This had better of been before we landed Henry. If we do that move now I'm going to be pissed.

There is absolutely no reason to do this move.

If Bly wants out of Denver that bad, and Wash wants him that bad, Denver get more than Betts for him, a lot more.

It would make about as much sense as trading Bly for Jason Campbell.

how about skins 1st and betts, for bly and our first

If he's determined he wants to play in Washington ship him to the Skins along with the #21 for the #6. The trade then becomes Bell, who we've replaced anyway, plus Foster who was going to get cut for moving up 15 spots in the first round...in other words a free move.

Im selling on the whole idea.

Im selling that Schefter is right.

Im selling that we would ask for a straight up trade between the two.

Im selling that this was ever even brought up.

No disrespect to Schefter on this one, but the conecept of Bly for Betts straight across does not meet two requirements: 1) We dont rape Snyder. 2) Not even Matt Millen is that ****ing stupid.

what's so special about Ledell Betts anyway? Seems pretty average to me.

Broncs could take Campbell for Bly then trade Campbell for 6 -7 thrid round picks for you ;D

Let's hope that this is old news, because this is the type of move that can set a franchise back.

we have entered the shanny zone. imagine if you would, a world that makes no sense, a world where only you are trapped, screaming but no one hears....trapped in the shanny zone.

Shefter did just report that it was Betts. Also reported that the Saints were intrested. However they just offered a 4th round pick.

A 4th! That's an insult! I'd much rather rape the Skins...again. :yayaya:

It amazes me that Bly would rather play for a loser like the Skins, just for the new contract. He could play in Denvet, collect 4.3 Mill, showcase his skills. If he has a solid 07 season he would be the number one FA target in 08.

Dre' Bly is 29 soon to be 30 years old in two months, turning 31 next year. Corners at this age rarely land a large contract.

Dre' Bly is playing this smart and looking out for himself. If a team is willing to throw lots of money at him right now, he should throw a massive fit and get out of Denver. Right now is his only chance of scoring big money. He's not going to get it next year.

I don't buy this...I am pretty sure I saw Betts play for Iowa. He's more of a slugger. Ironically, it's Portis that has fallen out of favor. He's never really recovered from his shoulder injury he sustained and is playing timid. That said, I would take him over Betts in a hearbeat. I don't want to trade Bly...I think he freaked on the contract Clements got from SF...I don't know what makes him worth 80 million...it's absurd and was very bad for the entire league. It sounds like altho the guarantees have gone up, Denver hasn't broken their backs.

Some of the whining on this board is ludicrous. We aquired our priorty targets, Bly, Henry and Graham. I'm estatic!! We sure seemed to do alot with a supposed 2.8M. Ha!

Now we concentrate on some meat eating DL on draft day. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to be a predator. I don't care if he's dumb as a rock...you just point at say...number 16 and say...Kill...sic em' boy.

As Monte Burns would say..."Release the hounds!"

If we do trade Bly, Daymion Hughes would be a good option in round one. Then we go DL in 2 and maybe get an Antonio Pittman early three. Spend the rest of the draft on more DL.

I see no reason to trade for Betts...

I wonder why we don't bring in T.J. Duckett for a look? I really wish we'd set ourselves up with a bruiser like that to spell Henry. He'd probably come at a good price, too.
