Okay, so I am a lazy ass and don't want to read through 500000 rumors...

SO WHO IN THE HELL ARE WE GETTING OR HAVE AS A BACKUP?!

Los Broncos

Just sign BVP.

According to the Rocky Mountain News (http://www.rockymountainnews.com/drmn/nfl/article/0,2777,DRMN_23918_5396113,00.html) (This is the last line to the story),

"Quarterback Anthony Wright was scheduled to visit the Broncos Monday and into today (Tuesday)."

I'd gladly take Harrington, or better yet Patrick Ramsey in a pinch.

Wright has been around and he can move. I'm not against that. I was against Brad Johnson like the plague though.

Anthony Wright or Aaron Brooks gets my vote.

I would LOVE to have harrington as the back up!!!

Dude got "McMillian'd" in de'troix and is now a Jeff Gaycia.

im thinking drew bledsoe if he will accept a backups role and is willing to be a mentor, otherwise patrick ramsey

Harrington, Anthony Wright, or Aaron Brooks. Personal preference in that order.

Of course, we can't exactly rule out Plummer. ;)

I would have loved Brad Johnson. I'm pretty ambivalent about the rest except I really don't want Van Pelt on the team. I hated going to games and listening to drunk idiots demand he be put in the game.

Bradlee Van Pelt better not step NEAR mile high...he's beyond terrible. Any quarterback with some experience will do, just pray cutler doesn't get hurt. Harrington probably fits the mold best though and would do a capable job

But is Harrington the ideal mentor for Jay? Is he an experienced vet who can be Jay's brain trust? I think not.

Meh, doesn't really matter. If Cutler gets hurt, we're sunk anyway. Hopefully whoever it turns out to be is someone who doesn't have to take a meaningful snap.

I would like Wright, sure he may not be the mentor that could help Jay out since Wright's been a backup quarterback virtually his entire career - saved for the season he was Baltimore's starting quarterback and in 2005, where he started several games - but he is mobile and has a decent arm.

With the things Denver does with its quarterbacks, roll outs and what have you, Wright fits the bill.

I wanted Brad Johnnson, but his ties to J. Garrett were too strong.

I forgot about him up until now, but I would be happy if Tim Rattay landed here.

Yeah, good point. There hasn't been that much talk about him visiting teams right now.

I wouldn't mind him as the backup quarterback.

I said it elsewhere but it deserves repeating: Joey Harrington doesn't have the arm strength to come in on a moment's notice and execute a Jay Cutler game plan.

I'd rather have BVP than Harrington.

Just say no to BVP!!!

I know it will never happen, but what about Damon Huard, he has the experience, and steped up in the absence of Trint...

if we sign Harrington (Please god NO) then we will have Bly & Harrington... If I remember correctly Bly was the one that was talking the most sh!t about Joey in Detroit...

Good call! I was going to say Harrington, but now it doesn't seem like a good move. Wright is serviceable.

Brad Johnson was my pick because he could mentor Cutler and he knows all of the players in the league and their tendencies. I don't think there is anyone else out there with that knowledge. I guess I would pick Rattay, maybe Ramsey.

Joey Blue Skies, Linus Van Pelt, Wright, Brooks...we can just sum it all up by saying the following:

The Broncos are going to have a wretched backup QB, end of story....garbage is all that's left and that's what they're going to be stuck with at this point. Pray that Cutler remains healthy.

Didn't the queefs sign him to a pretty hefty backup role contract:wiggle: . I think we need to bring in a smarter veteran to help out cutler behind closed doors. Most of the aboved mentioned don't have an f-ing clue, but I think rattay would be a great addition. Johnson would have been good as well, but I don't like Joey or even Bledsoe. I think wright doesn't have a lot to offer Cutler, but he would be a nice athletic backup plan.

We have the Duke now hanging with Cutler in some kind of weird convaluted coach/consultant/mentor role already so we don't need another mentor. Wright's the better choice behind this offenive line because he can run for his life like Jake did.

Elway hanging out with Cutler? Link?
Just a figure of speech...remember it was posted in here about a week ago that the Broncos were bringing hiim in as some sort of hybrid non official coach/mentor to let Jay soak up some of his magic. I don't imagine they're actually hanging out together but you get the point.

What about Trent Green? Since KC signed Huard to an extension, there is the possibility that Green will be released. He would fit the experienced, veteran role, if he is willing to come in as a backup.

Elway just talked to Cutler a couple of times about how to deal with the Denver media and fans.

What Cutler needs is someone who knows the opposing players and their tendencies. Elway has been gone a long time and would not have this knowledge. This is more important than finding someone to fit the Bronco system. If Cutler goes down or doesn't perform for an extended time the season is done anyway.

I would go with Wright if nothing more than for salary reasons....as someone said before, either way if Cutler goes down (which is a possibility if our line looks anything like it did at the end of the season) we are in trouble anyway

I've always liked Marques Tuiasosopo (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=5506)

After the draft and probably when preseason starts there will be some more notable cuts than the names kicked around so far. There isn't much interest in Carr right now and if the Texans draft Brady Quinn, then they might just cut him. There are a million scenarios but I say we at least wait until after the draft because Quinn and Russell are two top ten guys that teams will have to make room for.

Plus, there are always two or three surprise qbs (aging vets or high salary backups) who get cut that first round of training camp (they always cut some high profile guys those first cuts to let them get on with another team).

in terms of being an ideal mentor for Jay, I'd say Bledsoe fits the bill. If he has to step in for an injured cutler, Shanny better be calling some plays that get the ball out of his hands quickly though

Give the guy a chance to win his confidence back and he has live experience.

Tim Rattay is sounding like a good choice. Although Tampa may sign him back and keep 10 QBs on their roster.

I like BVP, Ramsey, or even Wright. Harrington I am mixed on. He's probably the best of the bunch, but he also probably still thinks he's a starter in this league.
