Travis has agreed to a 5 year deal worth $22.5m, with $12m in guarantees. as per the Scheff.

Ahman signed a 4 year deal worth $23.m with $6.5m guaranteed.

So technically Travis is getting more money up front but wont have huge base salaries towards the end of the deal so if he puts up the numbers he'll be here for the full duration of that deal.

ESPN by the way will quote this as Henry got $4.5m a year and Green got $6.7m a year.

Denver's happy, Houston's happy.

Works for me.

Nice, but I'm sure there are some escalators in there too.

Only thing that really matters is guaranteed money and the first year or two base salaries as that is likely all that will ever be paid....and in this case it looks like Henry cost about twice as much.

Difference is NC, Green will maybe be a stop gap in Houston for a couple of years. Henry will be the Broncos franchise back for at least the next 5 if he lives up to expectations and I've no doubt he will.

You can also look at it this way NC. I'd rather pay $12m over 5 years than $6.5m over 2. Green's 3rd year salary/roster bonuses or whatever will be $5m plus so unless he's hot he's gone after 2 years.

Henry isn't coming off injury either like Green and is younger and has less wear and tear.

Wont be on NFLPA until he signs the deal. They dont even have the trade through yet from last week.

Let's be honest here we were never getting Peterson unless he had one hell of a **** combine and even after that we'd have still had to trade into the top 10. I wouldn't mind adding a RB next year because it'll be a decent class or better still after the current market dies down and if Chris Brown is still around see what kind of terms he's looking for 2nd/3rd string.

Yep, it wouldn´t surprise me the least if we tried to acquire another veteran back on the cheap ...

I guess I just have never been that impressed with Henry because I feel pretty indifferent about his arrival. I hope you are all right and him an Bell form a good combo.

Green is more slash/dash and dance.

Travis will cut/run and pound for that extra yard.

Bell will spell him during games keeping him fresh. Plus the Broncos will draft a RB in rounds 3 to 7. Depth is needed with the loss of Nash. The Broncos will have Henry,Bell,Cobbs and rookie.

I'm happy with Henry and I'm sure the deal has bonus and possible exculators, not to mention clause's on actions off the field and drug suspensions.

Wondering if its performanced based, like where his first year is for 2.5 mil, if he gets 1500 yards, 10 tds, it escalates to 5.5 or 6 mil a season for the rest of the contract.

I'm kinda wondering if Sapp won't be that 4th rb in the mix since we signed another fb...or maybe they let KJ walk.

2007 708000.00
2008 871000.00
2009 1034000.00

Looks like his base salaries will be dirt cheap. The $12million is what he's getting guaranteed which will be prorated over 5 years. Hope some of that is in a roster bonus in 2009 so that we can cut him without hanging onto dead money in the cap.

I don't know where that $22.5 million is though. Probably some in incentives and the rest is just funny money he won't ever see.

I think a lot of Henry's success depends on Jay Cutler. He needs to master spreading the ball around and keeping defenses guessing which way he's going to go. Vince Young really relied on Henry so it's going to be interesting to see what Vince's running back can do.

I don't want to see Jay run the ball more but if he used his feet every now to steal critical downs. Cutler goes for strikes all the time. I'd like to see him throw underneath and some side routes. Don't delay. Pop that ball in there. I think he's hella accurate and fun to watch.

If Cutler loosens up defenses Henry can run over them. If Henry pounds the ball Jay can pick his shots. It's a fund combination.

How are Henry's hands anyway? Is he a solid blocker? Some of the sidebars I have gotten from people indicate he's a lot more well rounded than his stats show.

Bro that's his Titan salaries. He's not officially a Bronco yet plus NFLPA still have him as a Titan and he was cut last week. Worst weak of the year for that site and it'll take them a while to get on track.

I think Henry is an excellent pick up but let's not get silly with the 5 year plan...That would put him into this 11th NFL season...It is extremely rare that any NFL back is still playing after 11 seasons and even far more rare that they are starting after 11 seasons.

Henry is likely a very good 2-3 year solution and then the Donks will upgrade with some youth.

Actually, his contract is probably a fair amount richer than Green's. This is not a 5 yr contract (only rookies play-out 5 contracts as initially agreed, and even then it does not always play-out that way), like most vet contracts, it is best understood as a 2-3 yr contract as already stated by NC. In the context of 3 yrs, TH's contract is worth a few million dollars more (and if it works out to only two, the differential is most likely much larger).
