--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here's a quote from John Clayton on ESPN.com about LaMont Jordan's signing bonus...

"But they might lose halfback LaMont Jordan. For the moment, Jordan doesn't want to renegotiate a $4.75 million signing bonus that is due Wednesday. Figuring they could lose Jordan, the Raiders have asked Travis Henry to visit after his stop in Denver. "

Good, aslong as we don't get Travis Henry.

I'm curious, what's your issue with Henry?

Sounds like Jordan is forcing the fade to make a decision soon! If he was cut loose then he would be a very interesting prospect.

I'd take either one, but I saw Jordan a lot when he was with the Jets and the guy is powerful. I can see the Jets going hard after him if he is released.

PFT.com is now reporting the Jordan will definitely get cut (for what it's worth).

The Raiders' pursuit of Travis Henry could mean the end for LaMont Jordan, who is due a $4.75 million roster bonus on Wednesday. [Editor's note: We're actually hearing that Jordan definitely will be cut.]

In the very least we should keep Henry around and try to use Jordan as leverage.

I'd be happy with either one. However,, I do remember the passion Jordan played with last year. He was like the only guy on the team that didn't give up. When he got hurt, the team was sunk.

Either guy could bbe great but Jordan doesn't have the substance abuse history. That could come up in the future since the next hit would be a meaningful suspension (Sauerbrun anyone???). Both could do well in our system

That's actually a great point, and Jordan has far less mileage and is a much better receiver.

this is pft's source:

Also, running back Travis Henry and tight end Daniel Graham have arranged visits with the Raiders. Henry got cut by Tennessee on Saturday. Graham has spent his entire NFL career with New England. Both met with the Denver Broncos in the past two days.

Signing Henry likely would mean the end for running back LaMont Jordan in Oakland after two so-so seasons. He is due a $4.75 million roster bonus by Wednesday.

This is definitely good news. I'm a big fan of Jordan. He is hard-nosed runner and a great receiver. You could tell that the losing was definitley wearing on him last year.

Very true. And almost as fickle as the Broncos so far in searching for a RB.

Its a fickle marketplace. It would be hard for anybody who can't comprehend that to really understand what all the conversation is about.

If neither guy is a significant upgrade then what do the Raiders gain by not paying Jordan the money he signed on for? And what would Henry have to gain by signing there?

The Raiders are probably looking at playing a rookie QB. You would think they would want to maintain some stability for the newbie by keeping a veteran back who knows their system.

That team just baffles me.

He is far from a great receiver. Every time I watched the Raiders play he would drop a pass usually on 3rd and short. Lets draft a back if it comes down to him.

I think I will be happy this year with what ever back Shanny places back there.

Unlike last 9 years we have a QB that can win games on his own. I would hate to see Jay have to be saddled with rb's like Winder & Sewell I think we have far superior WR's than what John had in his early years.

The dark horse in all this speculation is still M Bell. The kid can break off big gains, he just cannot take it all the way. I hope he is doing some speed training this off season.

I'm not too concerned about M Bell's speed, but his stamina needs to improve if he ever plans on being a starter.

As a young QB, Cutler would do well with a reliable vet like Winder. It doesn't look like there has been a big drop off in Denver's running game by the yardage, but it comes in fits and starts now. Whatever they do, they have to find the guy who can provide some consistency. Get the yards when needed. I'd take Winder back there over this committee gained 1800. Some games with lots of yards and some games with little yards.

The long gains are exciting but give me someone who can deliver the 3 yards when needed. That's what is lacking and that is what will give Cutler the best chance of succeeding.

Then just draft Tony Hunt!;)

Unless Jordan and Kiffin have some history I'm unaware of, what difference does it make?

Jordan and Henry are on equal footing with respect to what system we're running this year.

jordan has developed chemistry with the offensive line though...that is not to be underestimated.

Oh really??

Jordan is hoping for that kind of attitude from the Raiders this season after complaining that he didn't get the ball enough his first year in Oakland. He finished the season with 1,025 yards rushing, 70 catches and 11 touchdowns despite missing the final two weeks with an injury and admitting that he didn't study the team's blocking scheme.

Your second paragraph implies a continuity that doesnt exist.
