DE is the deepest position in the draft. We could get a good DE in round one or two instead of signing Patrick Kerney.
A blocking tight end should not be our number one priority. Please tell me with a straight face Daniel Graham would have a bigger impact on the Broncos than Travis Henry. Henry touched the football 288 times last season.
If Vince Young was the heart, Henry was the soul of the 06 Titans.
We can't pin our slim hopes on Lynch falling into our laps. The Bills and Packers draft before us. Some posters point to Graham's blocking skills, but if we sign Graham instead of Henry we might have a rookie RB blocking for our young QB.
PS I would love both Graham and Henry for the right price.

I would love to get all three, but my order of preference is Kerney, Henry, Graham.

Can someone please explain all the hype for Travis Henry? I don't see why everyone is so amped to pick him (or any of the other FA RB's) up.

Vince Young gets all the credit for turning around the Titans 06 season, but if you followed the Titans you would know Henry was a huge part of it. The Titans and their fans want Henry back bad.

Would that Leonard kid out of Rutgers be the same type back? I mean if it is a choice between overpaying or taking a back in the 2nd. I would prefer taking a risk and drafting.

Henry offers more speed and he's a proven NFL runner, if it takes a deal similar to Green's (4 years, $23M with only $6.5M guaranteed) I'm all for it and using our #2 on a DL or Anthony Gonzalez.
Henry is a great fit for our system, he's a strong, stocky back (5'9", 215) with good burst and excellent vision. He's been a one cut and go downhill runner his whole career, its time he came to that type of system.
I don't think he'll demand the money Green got though. Henry has a substance abuse knock against him and doesn't have the career track record of Green. I'm betting 4 years, $18M with $5M guaranteed would land him.

"A substance abuse knock" is a nice way to say it.
Henry is one hiccup away from being suspended for a frickin' YEAR. That's a huge risk to take.
Then there's McGahee, who can't keep it in his pants....
Neither of these guys is a slam dunk choice...

I agree with you we should still go DE in first 2 rounds even if we got Kerney but, I wouldn't expect Denver to actually do it.

The guy is young, nice upside in this offense and has proven that he can do well... aside from the final year in BUF and first in TN - both bad teams.

Would you give Henry a $12 milion bonus and a $40 million contract??

Leonard isnīt a feature type back IMO. He played FB at Rutgers and is more of a master of all trades.

In an ideal world Iīd love to get a good RB now and structure his contract so that we can cut him in 12 months without much of a cap hit and go for our true RBOTF in the 08 Draft.
Willis McGahee is the only RB on the market that could keep the job for an extended period of time IMO and Iīm not too thrilled about him.

He was a HB before Ray Rice came along. Leonard is a HB who moved to FB for the sake of his team, not a FB trying to move to HB in the pros.

Ideally I would just bring in Chris Brown on a cheap one year hire since no one is looking to sign him. He's a one cut type runner who would be fine in our system and is only 25 with very little mileage. I would be cool with Brown/Bell + rookie as our backfield.
Personally, I don't think 90% of the RBs in this league are worth that kind of money because every draft year is full of solid runners, but that's just me.

<A href="http://www.kffl.com/link/3">Bill Williamson, of the Denver Post (http://www.kffl.com/link/184), reports the Denver Broncos (http://www.kffl.com/team/15/nfl) spent the evening Sunday, March 4, negotiating a contract with free agent RB Travis Henry (http://www.kffl.com/player/209/nfl) (Titans). The Broncos (http://www.kffl.com/team/15/nfl) are expected to try to get a deal done with Henry before he leaves Denver.

I don't think Broncos have any easy fixes at Running back. The draft is not salvation just like FA is not a sure fire fix. I think one of the worst things a team can do is pay too much. You are ultimately making two mistakes.
