Just say no Shanny. I'd rather go with Buckhalter, Chris Brown, or Mike Bell over him.

Droughns would be great. Reliable hard nosed back that would come cheap. Hell, yeah. He rushed for 1,200 yards in 12 games the last tiome he was here.

If the price is right why not.

Droughns and BEll would make a good dual.

Ruben went to Cleveland in that deal to bring some of the Browncos over. Bring him back if the price is right.

How good was he as a receiver and blocker? I seem to forget.

I do remember he had fumbling problems.

Not sure why we would do this when there are better players out there.

The reason he wore down was because he was a FB. He hadn't been a tail back in years. Then all of a sudden he is getting 25 carries a game of course it wore him down. He doesn't wear down anymore.

As an all around utility back, yes. Bring him back. As our feature back? No. I get this wierd feeling something big is going to happen before the draft.

There are much better backs available and Droughns is coming off of a poor season (spare me the O-line excuse, it's the same line he ran for 1200+ yards behind the previous season). Not to mention the fact that he doesn't exactly have what I'd call a nose for the end zone. He's been starting at tailback for three seasons and has a total of 12 TD's.

I'd rather give Mike Bell the starting job than bring Droughns back. Nothing personal, he just doesn't do anything for me as a starting RB.

We had Anderson returning from injury and also had Tatum Bell. We got decent value in the shape of Ekuban who's turned into a solid if unspectacular DE and Michael Myers.

There was talk in Denver last week that Droughns could be swapped back to the Broncos. The team has its annual void at running back after shipping Tatum Bell to Detroit in the deal for cornerback Dre Bly..

No offense to Droughns I'd pass on him. He is a good back but I don't think he is that good to trade picks and/or a player for him or whatever Cleveland would want.

When did Bill Williamson start writing for the Cleveland Plain Dealer? That sounds like the sort of throw-enough-crap-against-the-wall comment he would put into his notes.

Yes, bring him back. He's was also a great (and consistant) return man on kickoffs.

Droughns was a victim of the "we like Tatum" crowd (aka, Shanahan.....who can't bear to part with a high draft pick, never mind that it was a free pick).

Other victims of this policy were Heyward and Berry....but that time it was the "why isn't trevor playing very hard?....maybe we need to overpay him" crowd (again, shanahan.)

Neither is Droughns. If I had to choose between the two, I'd go with Bell, but I like him a lot better as a backup.

Hopefully this is all moot and Travis Henry is signed soon.

Droughns biggest problem was clearly wearing down. He actually, I think, has arguably the best vision on the team since Terrell Davis, problem was he hit the hole like a snail. I don't see this actually happening, he is incredibly similar to Mike Bell and I actually think Bell is underrated. Bell clearly had the best vision of our backs last year, he just needs to get more consistent. He improved as the year went on and, lets not forget, he was a rookie.

That wouild be fine. Give the starting job to Bell AND bring Droughns back.

Bell is going to be a good back, Droughns, and Cobbs would add some quality carries.

I think this is probably the best choice out there. He knows the system and can mentor MBell, he is a grinder and would be a curve ball for defenses. We wouldn't be committing much in terms of salary to him, he'd be returning to the system he flourished in, and would be a very solid stop gap to wait for a back in next year's draft. Tashard Choice in the second round sounds pretty good and maybe we draft one in the first depending on needs.

I really want Travis Henry. Droughns is a good guy, and he'd probably be fine, but I really want to see them go after Henry.

Personally considering the cap situation, I think Denver should go cheap on RB this year. Whether that is Chris Henry(My fav), Droughns, Ricky Williams, or any of the other numerous RBs out there. Shanny should draft a RB in the 3rd or 4th round and spend his money elsewhere. Denver has proven too many times that you can be a top 5 running team in the NFL without giving your RB a $10 million signing bonus.

I'd skip on all these guys and address an additional back in the draft. I like Chris Henry as a middle round pick. He might turn into something great. I'd rather take a chance on finding somebody with special talents then getting some used grunt. If that's the case, I think Mike Bell, Sapp, Cobbs and company can get us 2000 yards with an improved line. We need somebody electric in that backfield. We're not gonna get Peterson so I think we should take a chance on somebody less known but has the measurables, like Chris Henry. Little risk if you ask me, and he'll come alot cheaper then any of the free agent backs, and he'll be more hungy since he'll be a rookie.

We're about the only ones in that boat. Droughns and MBell are both consistent yardage guys. Everybody wants somebody who can pound it and break it but those guys don't come cheap and for the other needs we have on this team, that would be a luxury we can't afford. For now, we need to improve our defense starting with DT(Branch would be great but Justin Harrell, Brandon Mebane, or Ryan McBean are more than capable), add a S(Michael Griffin is looking pretty attractive), a young, everydown DE(if Carriker slips, jump it but otherwise wait and find someone to develop in the third or so). Once we fill those needs, then I think we start looking at luxury needs like WR, RB, or LB.

I mean if Shanny wants to draft a RB in the 1st round I would be fine with that, Draft picks are cheap. I just don't see handing out $10 million to any of these back that are in FA right now. I would rather give Kerney or Graham the $10 million than any of the RBs. I really don't think Graham is worth it eiher.

I agree! RB's FA - not a great class. Let's sign a solid vet to give Bell and our new eager rookie a break and we'll be just fine. Mike Bell runs like a deamon and will love the competition!

I'm not sure how I feel abvout Droughns ... but alotta these Ahman Green and Correll Bukhalter guys sound like somebody else's players. Maybe I'm old-fashioned, but I like our own guys, so I say draft Tony Hunt and go Bell/Hunt 1-2 .... and maybe pick up a Droughns or Henry as a stopgap.

I just don't see Reuben Droughns in a broncos uni again. If you recall, we barely used him at the end of the season in which he rushed for 1,200. He wore down, he's not subtle, cannot break a big run, and hits the hole like a snail (though he often identified the correct hole).

I'm okay with bringing in Droughns to battle it out with Cobbs for the #3 spot, but I'm not really sure he offers anything that Sapp doesn't already bring. either way, still need to find a #1 back somewhere.

i think we should be giving chris brown a bigger look...i am really surprised since there was some talk of us trading for him last year that he hasnt come in for a visit. I think he would be a good vet to mix in with bell, cobbs, sapp, and a rookie. and cheap too which seperates him from the henrys, mcgahees, and greens.

why is everyone so googgly eyed over chris henry?! just b/c he can run really fast in a straight line in shorts and a tshirt?? he never won his college RB job, what makes you think he has what it takes to be an NFL starter, and a first day pick at that?!!?!?...please...

Dude he wore down because at the start of the season he was a FB. HE had been a FB his entire career in Denver of course he wasn't used to running the ball 25 times a game. He does not hit the hole slow either. I should send you the New Orleans game where he totally dominated. He was fast enough to score on a 59 yard TD run.

It would be more funny than valuable to sign Droughns. How does Millen even find the toilet seat?

It's also funny how Wash and Atlanta never even signed Duckett and Ms. Lilly. Only Denver is holding anything from that odd, complicated gang rape.

Personally, I think Ms. Lilly is working her way back to Hawaii. If he's going to sign for peanuts, why in SF and not SD? Every time I think he can't do something more stupid, he trumps me. I'm still not sold on Alex Smith, altho SF has improved...they couldn't of gotten much worse...wait, Oakland is across the bay.
