View Full Version : Plummer to Oakland?
what a mess!
BUCS TO SHIP PLUMMER TO RAIDERS?
There's speculation in league circles that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will eventually trade quarterback Jake Plummer to the Oakland Raiders.
The thinking is that the Raiders are interested in acquiring Plummer as a short-term starter while expected No. 1 overall pick JaMarcus Russell gets ready to play, but that there's no way that the Raiders and Broncos ever could have done business together.
Enter the Bucs, who could end up being the straw man for a deal that puts Plummer in silver and black.
Stay tuned.

I think Plummer is serious about retiring. I find it hard to believe that he'd rather play in that clusterf*ck that is Oakland rather than play for Gruden. No sale.

I would love to have plummer in the AFC west, bly and champ would have a hayday twice a year heck maybe even a few LBs could get a couple picks or fumble recoveries.

 There's no way Plummer will agree to this. He'd be in the EXACT same situation he was in last year. Playing long enough until the franchise QB is ready to start. Not gunna happen......
dont think i believe it either, just wanted to post it...but i think it is very interesting that gruden went out and got both plummer and garcia leaving oakland with nothing at QB and virtually assuring that they have to take one at #1....gruden is making sure calvin will be there at #4, absolutely ****ing brilliant....he might be #2 to our mastermind

99% chance this is not true since it's coming from PFT.
But didn't the Raiders learn their lesson with quarterbacks who make boneheaded plays with Aaron Brooks? This would be hilarious if it were true.

This would be another solid plan by the raiders, we all know how good Jake can play when he is feeling heat from the rookie on the sideline.

I just read this on the faider board from a genuine faider fan.
I can see this happening in part to two things...
1. Plummer wanting to stick it to the broncos and still staying being able to stay out west
2. Bruce Allen doing Al Davis a favor bc Im sure Allen doesnt have any love lost for Denver.
I think Plummer is tons better than Garcia and more mobile...

Where are all the Plummer lovers??? I figured by know they would be reminding us of his amazing 7 out of 10 winning percentage and how he would lead the Raiders to the AFC west crown...

I might actually buy a Jake Plummer Butt-Pirate Jersey. He would instantly become the 12th Bronco on Defense.
Who knows though he might decide to "retire" at half time if things got tough though.
Any team that gets his services may want to make sure none of the bathroom doors lock so they can drag him out of the locker room at game time.

Another faider fan quote....
Dumb Plummer tried to Retire, now all he can do his sign with Bucs. Broncos traded him anyway for a conditional pick. Last thing Shanahan wanted was Plummer to become another Gannon and light up the Broncos as a member of Raiders.
This wont happen, unfortunately. Its like Shanahan has become Davis "evil son, or something - what a petty thing to do.
he didnt want him to un-retire? Shanahan sat him down, and the promptly LOST a must win game against the Niners.
bad karma sure to follow this deal

Im sure if the Fade would of just asked in the begining, Shanny would send Jake thru over night delivery and possibly a draft pick.

The idea of Jake trying to throw against Champ and Bly gives me a woody.
I hope this happens.

So what happens if the Raiders now trade for David Carr and the Bucs then deal Plummer to Houston? Let's say the Texans get a fourth for Carr and then give up their fourth to get Plummer. The Bucs are only out the conditional '08 pick which I'm betting never gets as high as a first day pick so it might all shake out like this:
Raiders get Carr for their 4th rounder.
Texans get Plummer and trade up to the first pick in the 4th round.
Bucs get Houston's 4th rounder as the broker.
Broncos get a 2008 4th or 5th from Tampa and are out from under Plummer's contract.
Everybody feels like they got over on somebody.

Wouldnt you think Shanny would have made sure to have a clause in the deal that if the Bucs trade Plummer it would escalate the pick we get to a first day pick (or something decent)?

OK, on the NFL Network they just said that the deal has specific language that says Plummer plays for TB or nobody, FWIW.
