from pft.com
John Crowe of WSKO radio tells us that he has spoken to Jack Mills, the agent for tight end Daniel Graham, and that Mills says that no deal has been reached between the Broncos and Graham.
Mills will appear on WSKO at 3:30 p.m. EST to address the situation. The spot can be heard right here.

also from pft.com:
And, on further review of our e-mailbox, we discovered a message from agent Tom Mills, who writes of Graham: "He has not agreed to terms with Denver or anyone. Don't know where that rumor started, but it's completely inaccurate. Dan will visit with the Broncos later today, but we haven't discussed contract and Dan is planning to take a trip to Oakland tomorrow and Seattle after that."

Probably a ploy from his agent to show what they want. Now that it's been rumored that he was getting a 10 million dollar signing bonus, he should get that, if not more.

curious as to why?
is there someone else you see as having a bigger impact for the price? if so, who?
i see Daniel as fundamentally changing our 1st&10 and 3rd&4 proficiency - keeping the O on the field and the D off. that seems worth some coin in my opinion.

I don't think he is worth the type of money he is going to get.. I'd rather see the money spent on NEED positions.. TE is not a need position for us... His 25 catches a year are not worth the money he is going to get and before everyone says oh he will improve our run game... well the Broncos have had a pretty good run game before Daniel Graham and they will be fine w/o Daniel Graham... Alexander does the same thing Graham will do for us and he is a heck of a lot cheaper...

Graham=Alexander?!?!? I have no clue how you came to this conclusion. Graham is a much better and much younger player.

I understand your point in terms of stats except for when we are staring a 3rd and short in the face and our Defense just surrendered a TD/FG after a Peyton Manning 7 minute drive and we HAVE to stay on the field. Alexander and Graham are in different stratospheres in what they will do for our schemes in this position in my opinion; but who's to know for sure . . . .

He is a definite improvement over Alexander and will make the offense better, but I don't know if he can make it that much better to make it worth the big $ we will have to spend.
If we still find a way to sign Kerney, then I'll eat my words, but if we miss on signing someone who can help our pass rush I would say our money and resources would have been better spent.

If we were talking about a DT that was not going to allow QBs to step up in the pocket, then I would be right on board with you on this. But I just don't see Kerney as being that guy that can hurry the QB on a consistent enough basis against top competition given his mileage. And I don't see any FAs that fit that bill at this time, so I think we are trying to go the route of FA on Offense with Graham in hopes of keeping ourselves on the field and looking to draft a high impact DT and DE that will be young and explosive enough to make a difference early on in a rotational scheme. I am thinking we draft DE, then DT, then S, then DE, then DT and hope for a similar result that got us DWill, 'Nique and Paymah - not that it set the world on fire, but it was certainly an upgrade over Bendy Walls.

How can you post this with a strait face? Seriously he is exactly like Steven Alexander in his primenot to mention bigger and stronger. I dont even really see this taking away from Sheffler. Maybe Mr. Graham can teach him how to block down field.

a TE isn't who i'd prefer to break the bank for. of course he'd be an upgrade at the TE position but the money we'll spend on him should be spent on the defensive side of the ball, IMO.

I would normally agree with you accept the talent level in FA is not that great IMO. Seriously I think that if we can shore up the offence with some guys in FA then the draft will likely be the reverse of last year, all D and hopefully a RB. I think that there is definately more talent in the draft for D-line than in FA. But I am sort of a CU homer and I love seeing guys come back home on the next level.

I posted that w/ a straight face.. I just don't see how paying a TE that kind of money is going to get this team to the next level... is Graham an upgrade over Alexander? ... absolutely... would he upgrade our O absolutely but at a WAY too expensive price.. the money needs to be spent elsewhere is my point.. no one can argue that Graham would upgrade the O but at the expense of signing a stud RB or some impact Dlinemen I'd pass.. let some other team pay 10 mill bonus money for his 25 catches a year.. keep Alexander.. he is a decent blocker, not great but he can get the job done.. he doesn't have the softest hands but he catches a lot more than he drops... all for a fraction of the cost of Graham.. w/ that out of the way
now Shanny needs to get to work on a deal for Thomas Jones and squash all this McGahee talk..

1. The Bronco FO can manage their money better than anyone on this board.
2. There are no impact RBs or DL in free agency this year.
3. Teams need to make every effort to upgrade EVERY position on the team. Graham will upgrade the OL blocking, ad a great red zone target and be a leader the offense on this team is missing.

I don't want to break the bank trying to get him but he is the roadgrater BLOCKING TE that this team has missed for quite some time.

Michael Huff started all 16 games, and managed ZERO interceptions, ZERO sacks, ZERO ff, ZERO fum rec, and just ONE pass defensed.
That's right. ONE pass defensed all year.
