View Full Version : Jeff Garcia one of the Raiders' top priorities
Former 49ers quarterback Jeff Garcia, 37, will be one of the Raiders' top priorities once the free-agency period begins tonight at 9. The former San Jose State star is regarded as the top quarterback available in free agency. His stock soared after he replaced injured regular Donovan McNabb midway through last season and guided the Philadelphia Eagles to an NFC playoff berth. The Raiders, Denver Broncos and Tampa Bay Buccaneers are expected to show the most interest in Garcia. The Eagles declined to pursue Garcia now that McNabb is expected back at full strength. ``If the Raiders call once free agency begins, Oakland definitely will be one of the places he seriously considers,'' said Steve Baker, Garcia's agent

Well if they trade Moss to the Packers and sign Jeff, then I can see them drafting Calvin.

or even worse, they might trade down and actually improve many areas on their team.

And why would Garcia want to go play with Moss and Porter or T.O II and
T. O.III ?? He will get alot better offers than going to the outhouse.
His agent is trying to taunt Al into making an offer so he can join the list of those telling Al to stick it.

Yeah, when I think of the man who could restore the Raiders vertical game to glory, the first name that pops into my mind is cannon-armed Jeff Garcia.

It's going to be interesting to see what offense they try to run. We hear people saying "A$'s too cheap to pay a qb first pick money," but A$'s isn't cheap on signing players. He's senile now, but he's never been cheap like Philly. I'd think Jamarcus Russell, and if they don't then Detwat takes him in a second. I could see TB making a move if Crazy A$ wanted to trade down, but most likely neither Joe Tomas nor Calvin Johnson will be there at the #4 spot.
TB Russell
Detwat Thomas or Johnson (hey why not yet another WR)
Clevland ... they might go for Quinn, leaving whichever guy Millen whiffed on for Crazy A$'s greasy mitts.

Hmmmm.....retool the o-line, bring in a wily vet, Defense is already strong. Young, keen coach who has not yet fallen out of favour with greasy Al.
The debacle of the last couple of seasons really was too good to last. I have a nasty feeling that the Faiders will be back next year, ladies and gentlemen....
We can console ourselves with the fact that if they are back then that won't last either - if the new HC is any good he's bound to fall out with Al sooner or later....
Its true that they can offer Garcia the one thing that we can't: a starting gig. Ah, never mind, having him as a backup was always going to be too good to be true.... :welcome:

Wouldn't that add insult to injury if they sign Garcia and then draft Calvin Johnson?
