Anybody else hear about this?
Apparently the NY city council is voting on a measure to allow legal immigrants the right to vote.
I'm sorry, but unless you are a citizen you should not be allowed to vote. I don't care if it was done before.
Shockingly it was a democrat who sponsored the bill.

A bill that would grant permanent residents and other legal immigrants the right to vote in municipal elections has been stalled in the City Council since last year.

Because it wasn't pertinent. They are still debating it. It shouldn't even be debated.

you do understand that municipal not even a state election right ? municipal elections are a tad higher then voting in a housing association about grass height and were to place garbage cans .........

Doesn't matter. They are not Citizens. However, if the community there wishes it. they should be allowed to do it.

My position, to vote, you MUST be a citizen. Natural or naturalized. But a "full fledged/ pledged CITIZEN. PERIOD!

So if you are a legal immigrant, and the home owner's association
in your neighborhood puts it to a vote whether to plant some trees in
the common area, you, not being a "full fledged/ pledged CITIZEN. PERIOD!"
aren't allowed to decide whether to plant oak trees or maple trees?
I mean this is just a municipal election, it's not like they get to vote
for the President of the United States of America. All they would be
voting on is what days to schedule garbage pick-up and things like that.

Is that really all that is affected by municipal election?
Sorry, I don't buy it!

yeah it is , just like Municipal court , speeding tickets , dogs at large , jay walking , municipal isnt even county voting , but in municipal you can get into some zoning issues , but once the zoning issue goes to county , then state , they wouldnt have a vote
