He was a damn good coach and what many don't know is that he fought the administration to get Black players admitted but wasn't able to win that battle till teams with blacks started to kick the crap out of all white teams.
That is true. Like he said...he just wants to win.

You could tell being interviewed at half-time by some woman was the last thing he wanted . . . I'm sure when ABC told him about it beforehand he was like, "Dang, what in the Sam Houston would I need to talk to some chippy!"
My favorite quote from him came when he was asked why continues coaching. "If I quit, I'd croak in a week."
After he quit, he died a month later . . .
