:pfbbt: BOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!
Actually I have more good dates, than bad ones. In fact I usually have a number of contingencies that help prevent me from having really terrible dates.
1. I don't go on blind dates. Nope. None!
2. I'm male. This means I get to ask the person out. They obviously so "no" many times, but I don't ask out someone that is going to aggravate me - at least not right away.
3. I try to get to know the person a little bit before I ask them out. This eliminates some of those stupid "date questions" you're referring to.
4. I try to go somewhere the food is really good. That way, if the date starts to crash, at least I can enjoy a good meal.
5. Generally I try to end the date a bit too early rather than too late. It keeps things exciting and avoids awkward situations.
I do have some really good "bad" date stories. I have to go now, but I'll share them when I get back.
There was an article on this in the Post recently. It was really funny.

I've got one bad date experience. It was my second date with this girl. We agreed to meet at a neutral place and then she would drive to dinner. I arrive first, and she pulls up and wants me to drive. Well we already agreed that she would drive but she was hesitant but finally agreed. So I get into her car, and the first thing she tells me is "Well, I guess you can see I have two kids" as she points to the two car seats in the back seat.
We never went on a date again, but I didn't act like it was a big deal at the time and we had a fun time on the date. I'm only 23, so i'm not too interested in dating a single mother of 2.

Bad date...One of my friends in PA said they knew a guy who I would probably have an OK time with. I said alright. Now, this was my mistake ok'ing a "blind date" Anyways, I meet this guy, and its a dude who worked with my dad at RS Pittsburgh. He got out a few weeks before and got "out" the same time. That was a little wierd.

I'm back on the market as of a couple of days ago. I gotta agree with Kaylore. No blind dates...ever! The last one I had, the girl turned out to be bipolar. That was fun. Yikes!
In all honesty, though, the hunt and the early stages of a relationship where you're figuring each other out can be very fun and exciting. It can also be very frustrating and maddening. Just depends on how you handle things.
Either way, good luck to all the singles out there (myself included).

She had little choice because I was driving. :D
She sat there stunned through the concert. Afterwards, she let me know just how wrong Carlin's show was by talking about her religious upbringing. She was relatively nice, but she did make me feel guilty about bringing her to the show. Needless to say, there was no second date...

I went out on a date with this girl I knew for about 7 years through school. My mom always liked her too. The date went well, but I noticed she left her wrap in my car. I drove back to drop it off. When I got to her house, her other date for the evening was just walking up to the door and rang the doorbell. She never answered the door (probably because she saw both of us out there) and the other guy looked pissed! I was cool with it, because we were friends for so long, but it was kind of awkward.

I agree with Kaylore, never, never blind date. I think the dating scene is terrible when you're desperate to date (like when we were young). I much prefer dating at this age.....I'm not dating to find a husband, I prefer to go out and become friends, have a good time. I like my freedom too much. But one thing I learned from a failed marriage was make sure you like the person you are with before you know you love them if you are looking for a permanent partner.

I had one date where I met a woman over the phone where I work. She was funny and clever and just moved to town so I asked her out. She fired one warning shot:
"I'm big but I'm not as big as Roseanne (Barr)."
Somehow, this didn't deter me so I went. Turns out she was as big as Roseanne and not much better looking either. I tried to stay polite but she insisted she needed to run an errand when I first arrived and asked if I would join her. Okay.
Within about ten minutes total of meeting her, she offered this gem:
"Just so you know, I've had my breasts reduced."
Politeness was all that kept me from shooting bacK, "What a coincidence! I just had my dick shortened."
Well, it turned out she was a smoker to boot so I left at the first polite moment and that was the last time I saw her.
As of January 17 I am offically back on the dating market after being married for 21 years. I'm going to go on a date as soon as I remember how to ask someone out.
Any advice?
I thought about posting on that devorce thread we had going back awhile but it all was too new.

One thing I have noticed in my dating experiences is in regards to women and relationships with their father. I can't say this applies to all women since of course it doesn't, but from my experiences, a woman that either has no relationship with her father or the relationship isn't the greatest tend to have the most emotional problems and not the most stable and kind of hard to get along with. Again, this is from what I have gone through. Not sure if I will ever get married. I kind of doubt it.

That was me that said that. So are you all out there looking for a wife when you date? I doubt it. I'm sure many of you have gone out with a woman more than once and had sex with these women you like but don't love. That's a friendship.
I wasn't saying if it becomes a serious relationship that it's just a friendship, but make sure you like them before you love them. It makes the love that much stronger when it becomes more than a friendship.

men dont want to be friends with women.
As a guy, I disagree. It depends on what you want from friendship. I've had women around me that I wanted to spend time with but not for anything sexual. Sometimes, it is just the enjoyment of their company or a different perspective than I'd expect from a guy.
Occasionally, you find a woman who is really interested in something guys want to talk about (like football) and that can be really cool. It takes time, though, to figure out if she's really interested or just pretending to be. When you find one that can explain a Cover 2 defense or the infield fly rule, that's a keeper.
Friendships among 15-35 singles usually don't last that long though because either the guy wanted sex or the girl wanted romance and once they realize it isn't happening, they move on. Or one finds what they really wanted from somebody else and no longer has any interest in maintaining the friendship.

Only friends? As in not "you were with a guy and he was a friend...until you eventually became available"?
Or something along those lines?
Not disagreeing, I think guys can be friends with women...just saying I've seen that scenario from multiple angles.

Ok, this one stays at the mane. I meet this girl on halloween (actually meet 2 chicks that night) so I go out with here about a week later. When we talk, she brings up conversations about things that i dont remember and I tell her that she must have told them to another guy (which she denies but I dont care as it is just casual dating). I think i would see her maybe a few times (3 to 5) before I dont see her from maybe the 8th of December to end of December. She gets her divorce finalized and asked me to celebrate at her house. I bring over a bottle of wine for her and we start making out on the kitchen floor. We move it to the bedroom (i was spending the night) and I have only my underwear on and she is giving me a nice back massage as she is topless. Very relaxing and nice. Gonna get some! All of a sudden, I hear some keys rattling outside and now the door opens. He starts walking in the bedroom when she jumps up ( i roll over) and tries to explain to "him" who I am. Im thinking, "Hey, I am just a bootie call. Dont make me sound like i am totally in your life." I decide to grab my bag (which now he freaks out seeing I was there for the night) and get my clothes on in the living room. I can hear the wussy whinning "How can you do this to me?" Over and over but now it turns more to being pissed off. I grab my shoes and get the F out of there. I can hear him get really pissed off but all i can do is laugh because everyone had heard of a story like this but never had it happen, well it happened to me! I find out the next week from her efriend that the slut (my words not hers) wanted to thank me for calling the cops as he started throwing crap all over the apartment. I told her I never called and she deserved everything she got broken.
The best and happiest part of this is I got home that same night of the "incident" and told my cousin that I am done with the single life and want to just get a girlfriend and settle down. I started dating a girl the next week who later became my wife of over 6 years. Timing is everything.

I've been single for a long time with out a committed relationship.
I enjoy dating...sometimes.
That being said - the closer women get to 30 (i'm going to be 28 this year) - i think the crazier they get to get hitched (the ones that haven't been divorced or scarred).
I have found more women who cry when they say i'm the best guy they've been with or have changed their opinions on finding a good guy and "what can i do to make you stay". I feel sort of bad, that most women have dating crap guys in some way. (or that's the impression I get).
It's sort of nice to be able to pick and choose whom i want to go out with.
It's funny because i have alot of female friends (whom are JUST friends) - and they are funny - when they meet a girl i'm dating it's "I dunno, i don't think she's good enough for you" etc etc - lol - sort of funny. Also a hinderence - When i'm like "who's your friend?" Friend1: "oh she's a slut" - lol -
Anyway:
The worst date i was on is a tie -
One is i went out with a vamp/goth girl - it wasn't bad because she was one- it was bad when she asked what my religion was....
The next was a woman who thought i had alot of money - I stuck her with the bill on purpose when for 45 min the questions surround how much money i make and how much money i make. I left her at the resteraunt, with the bill and no ride home. I usually try not to be such an ass - but in this case her b****ery far exceeded my limits.
But i have fun - I enjoy meeting new people and i find out what's important to *me* in looking for a mate. I also found that i don't need a full-time mate. I'm more than perfectly happy on my own. But again i hate making women cry though after dating them, and they get attatched and tell me how great of a guy i am - when i don't feel the same way as i'm on my way out the door. It's hard for me to get attatched though....

Oh yeah - and one other thing about dating a few different women. I've really learned how to love a woman in her individuality. Even though they might not be a 100% match - i've learned how to see the good they have and really enjoy it - and love that part of them. I like to take time in learning them too.
I don't use any pickup lines or anything. Most of the time i just talk to them and then ask them if they want some coffee and let them pick time/place (hey i got the idea!) lol!
I get by on charm and instinct.
I just realized I'm a great catch. ;D

Any advice?
Hmm...just ask, worse thing that could happen is they say no. In which case, you hit them on the head with a club and drag them back to your cave.

Baja,
From doing my alchemist works - i see things alot of times like "formulas".
For example:
Reaction/action = karma
well when it comes to relationships - i've learned that if it's not a 'balanced equation' - then it becomes imbalanced and then the forumla doesn't work.
So if i'm unhappy and stick around - i maybe a mean ass to the lady for no other reason other than - i'm not happy.
I can't be whom i'm not. I can make comprimises with someone, but i won't comprimise myself.

There is nothing wrong with going out drinking with a girl that is just a friend of yours. Besides, you'll probably end up hooking up at some point, and being friends with benefits anyway. Which is great, no strings attached, its perfect. You should try to get some girls as friends, they'll hook you up with thier friends, and if none of that works out, there is always her.

Here is a quick list of simple things you have in common interest with 95% of all women.
1. Sex, they like it as much as us
2. Music, Concerts make great dates
3. Food
4. Movies
5. Partying, socializing
Many also like sports, probably not the computer games, but that is your time, and the sports is guy time. Having women as friends makes you much more well rounded as a person, and I feel sorry for guys that don't have girls as friends. Nothing against you, but I suggest you change your attitude towards having girls as friends. And then things got more interesting as a friend of her decided to express his devoted love for her that night. This is all on the first night we have gone out. And it got even more interesting. She told me I was staying at her place. She had 3 bedrooms. When one the same guy came with our group for the afterparty at her house. He was standing outside her bedroom door just begging to be let in. All in all I ended up in the room with the door locked with her and it is all now an interesting story about our first night together.

I have many women friends and if any woman i'm dating has a problem with it. She's gone. It means she trusts neither me, or my friends. Which of course has a bigger issue - why doesn't she trust. If she's projecting her fears onto me - that's not my issue - and she will get hurt because no matter what - i can never live up to her expectation(s) (or she's not trustworthy and thinking of herself in those situations).
I can have a jealous streak at times, but i'll just hash it out with her and if it's cool it's cool. No sense in worrying about what someone else will do or won't do. I don't have control over them, nor do i want to. I shouldn't HAVE to tell someone how to be. if you need that control over someone... maybe that's YOUR problem.

*sigh* Terrible.
We go into the place and she immediately starts complaining about petty stupid ****. Why is that chair over there? This table is too tall. Blah blah blah. So then we start talking and she says she is actually interested in going into the funeral type business...being a mortician.
Ok, not really my thing but thats no big deal. At least until she started telling me about the ins and outs of the business...graphically...emablming etc...ugh.
Then the food. She gets a huge salad. You know those little purple things that come and larger done up salads that taste like nothing? She couldn't have any of them in there...she took the time to pick out every....single....one....this elongated eating time by at least 20 mins. She is still going on about dead people and complaining about stupid **** the whole time.
Check please?

Things started poorly when I couldn't find her appartment and was 40 minutes late so we had to wait instead of getting right in with our reservations. It was a first date...awkward anyway for two 19 year old co-workers. About 5 minutes in I was nervous and tipped over a huge piping hot bowl of potato soup that spread accross the table in a nano second and landed in her lap. Once the shrieking stopped, the waiter appeared with the largest beach towel in the world and wiped down the entire table, smirking the whole time while a bunch of middle aged corporate suit types looked on and got their jollies with it.
After I dropped her off I had a flat tire on the way home in a really bad part of town. That was the best part of the date.

I went on a first date with this one girl, we go to a bar, get a drink, start kissing there, have one more, head back to her place. She's really hot too, strawberry blonde, cute, petite, with a great rack, so I am all hyped. Go back to her parents house who were out of town, and we head to the bedroom.
And as things progress it looks like Phil Spectres head down there.

I didn't call her again after that, but I did run into her, she was standing outside B-52s when I walked in with my GF the next weekend, but she didn't rat me out, she just winked and smiled. That was pretty funny.
Baja,
From doing my alchemist works - i see things alot of times like "formulas".
You are a wise man Josh.
Give me one good reason why a man would want to be friends with a woman, ******?
Someone to share the joy of life with.
Nothing really, just really angry about being called gay for stating my opinion.
Well you opinion and your avatar, besides what is wrong with being gay you could not only hang with your buds you could poink them too and never have to suffer the companionship of a nasty woman again.

Only friends? As in not "you were with a guy and he was a friend...until you eventually became available"?
Or something along those lines?
Not disagreeing, I think guys can be friends with women...just saying I've seen that scenario from multiple angles.
The worst being the BF knowing a shark is prowling and only getting pooh-poohed when you mention it.
We're best friends in the sense that there's no one on earth either of us would rather spend time with than with each other... and there's no secrets between us; nothing we couldn't or wouldn't tell the other. If either of us had a problem, the other would be the first one we'd approach for advice or to confide in. Our first date wasn't at all uncomfortable or tense... we were both relaxed and at ease as if we'd known each other all our lives, even though we'd just met.

I once was on a blind date, was a terrible experience. We had agreed we would pay for our own meals. While eating she said, "How bout you pay for dinner and drinks and I will rent the movie later tonight. Yeah thats real fair. So after dinner I started taking shots of tequilla and got pretty hammered. My date had to drive us home. It was pretty freaking hilarious looking back.
