I agree with zach here, its a god damn commercial! If you are going to have an uproar over the snickers one than you might as well whine about the bud commercials. The rock paper scissors one(which was hillarious) and the slapping in the fce one(also hillarious).

Thing is commercials are meant to get people to remember the product. Guess what? Snickers obviously succeededin doing so. Which is evedent by t fact that this thread was even made.

Gayest SuperBowl...EVER!

Should of had Ellen Degenerate and Rosie O'Donnel munching a turd for full repulsive effect.

Then you have Prince's Metrosexual act with gyrating dancers. I'm sure glad that NFL Productions took the bull by the horns and banned MTV to offer some good wholesome entertainment the whole family could enjoy. His metrosexual stage was just...odd, in a sport that is a manly sport.

Interestingly, after I was done vomiting over Grossboy, I turned to Comedy Central and just happened to catch South Park...A Metrosexual fad had taken over the entire town, right down to the 6 year olds...Mr. Hat and Mr. Slave were upset because they had lost their "uniqueness".

From A to Z oddly enough, the best entertainment actually WAS Prince...just surprises me NFL Productions would feature him. The NFL is the most hypocrytical enterprise of all time in sports.

None of this lunacy either insults me or surprises me, because I don't have to explain to a little daughter why two men were fellating a turd. I'm damn hard to insult honestly, it didn't bother me at all...it just seems that there were some questionable ads and halftime activities. I really liked the Prince show, but I don't think it was appropriate, and I'm far from a prude. Trust me.

edit: I forgot to mention Circus SoGay in the pregame show. I don't have a problem this stuff, I just think it was inappropriate for this venue...call me old fashoned or whatever. I don't think I am but you can't judge yourself. I also enjoyed the Circus...that was actually pretty cool...It was also kinda well...

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Perhaps I should check it out more often. For the past couple years, the only reason I'd even watch was for Jimmy Falon and Tina Fey. They had weekend update down, among other things. I know they're not on the cast now though. I did watch it on Saturday, coincidentally, and it had its moments.

It was the car... that was the spot Chevy had the contest for. A freshman girl from Wisconsin won. I get the feeling she won because it could be filmed with a relatively low budget.

Snickers pulls plug on Super Bowl smooch ad
Masterfoods kills ad that showed two men 'kissing' after objections by gay rights groups.

February 6 2007: 3:24 PM EST

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- After a number of groups objected, Masterfoods USA, the maker of Snickers candy bars, has pulled the plug on a controversial Super Bowl commercial that showed two men accidentally kissing.

The 30-second commercial featured two mechanics who end up sharing both a Snickers bar and an inadvertent kiss, and then react by pulling out a clump of chest hair to "do something manly."

On its Web site, the candy maker posted three alternate endings to the commercial and reactions from NFL players.

Groups such as the Human Right Campaign and the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) condemned the ad, saying it promoted anti-gay prejudice and condoned violence against gay Americans.

"That Snickers, Mars and the NFL would promote and endorse this kind of prejudice is simply inexcusable," GLAAD President Neil Giuliano said in a statement.

Masterfoods USA is a subsidiary of closely held Mars Inc.

Viewers were supposed to be able to go to www.SnickersSatisfies.com or www.afterthekiss.com Web sites to view the alternate endings and vote on their favorite which would air later this month. Visitors to the site are now redirected to the Snickers' home page.

Masterfoods, which has discontinued the ad campaign, said the intent of the ad was not to offend, and noted that feedback from its target audience had been positive.

"We know that humor is highly subjective and understand that some people may have found the ad offensive. Clearly that was not our intent," Masterfoods said in a statement. "As with all of our Snickers advertising, our goal was to capture the attention of our core Snickers consumer."

The ad, which was produced by TBWA/Chiat/Day New York, is the first time since 2001 that a Snickers spot was featured in the Super Bowl.

The context of the women fighting over "Less Filling, Tastes Great" was some male's fantasy. There was actually a series of these ads and, in the final one, the girls do start making out in the fountain but the censors made them pull it.

GoDaddy.com once had a webpage which featured about 13 different versions of the first Super Bowl ad they did with the dancer/stripper before they toned it down enough to get approved. That was the focus of their second SB commerical where the spokeswoman is testifying before Congress - an obvious tweak at the previous year's censorship fight which happened to be the same Super Bowl as Janet Jackson's nipple ring.

Snickers managed to piss off both gay groups who thought the concept was anti-gay and conservative groups who thought the concept was gay (or at least disgusting).

I do think their sales will suffer but then I can't count how many companies I quietly boycott until they pull an ad campaign I find annoying or offensive. I figure that if I patronize their business while the offending ad is running then I am only encouraging them to make more similar ads.

WEEELLL...

I was kinda referring more to the 'buffier, beefier' version in Batman Beyond...now THAT Bale was definitely Snickers tasty! ;D

*fans self* :flower:

anyway, back on topic. I can't believe people would actually stop eating a candy bar because of this. It reminds me of junior high school when people would pick up food and say, "what does this shape remind you of?"

So the gay people are mad because its anti gay, and the straight people are mad because its anti straight.

Seems like squares come in all shapes and sizes...

Like I said earlier in the thread, its not like they went bareassed and went at it on the carhood. In europe they have orange juice commercials with topless lesbians and dildos. We throw a fit because two dudes were so overcome by snickers goodness they touched lips.
