And STAY OFF THE INTERNET ya dang geekcheats!

There are only five teams in the NFL (including AFL stats) who have never had the first overall choice in the NFL draft. Name the teams.

Technically because they haven't picked 1st overall in the NFL draft, they are right on that, but they have picked 1st overall twice in the AFL draft. It's just kind of a misleading statement for them to say they've never had the top pick overall, when they have, it's just in the draft that no longer exists.

Combined with Matt Robinson, and you can now see why Red Miller was fired after the 1980 season.

Just once or twice - SA on the D-Will return, and I think an old Minnesota-Dallas playoff game in the 70s ... but that time, the Viking was about 5 yards from the sideline, running in full view of TV. In fact, I've seen that penalty NOT CALLED dozens of times (ahem ... Raiders? The entire Raiders sideline would smudge the sideline chalk and walk on it en masse...)

I gotta say, though, seeing past the heartbreak value, a couple of those Brunell TD passes -the Jimmy Smith one esp. - were amazing

One play.. ONE PLAY interrupts a three-peat.

You have to be joking. You are a smart guy, so I am gonna guess you are joking.

We choked that game away. Choked. It started with missed PATs, and went from there. The game should HAVE NEVER been close enough for one play to decide.

Besides, I am not sold on the notion that we coulda beaten GB that year. They were hungry that year - they finally exercised their demons in Dallas (I think it was the first year GB got to play Dallas in Wisconsin during that era).

Well, the utter stupidity was that we kept blitzing Romanowski, even though Brunell was able to fake him out of his jock time after time. That was just bad coaching and a stubborn refusal to adjust when something wasn't working.

Besides the BS call on MDP, there was all kinds of ridiculous crap in that game. The most glaring, obviously, was the Tory James interception, which should have made the score 19-3 at the half, instead it became a pass interference and made the game 12-10.

Arguably as damaging, was the Terrell Davis one yard touchdown run, which was obvious to a blind man, called down on the one. TD scores on the next play, but twists his knee and is largely ineffective the rest of the game. The only playoff game of his career in which he does not rush for more than 100 yards.

Gus Frerotte was tossing for the Skins that day in '95.

Elway's first TD pass went to Rick Parros, a smallish Fullback often mistakenly credited to Dan Reeves.

Some people here will say "that devil Reeves drafted another small Fullback, and it all started with Rick Parros back in 1981".

Red Miller drafted Rick Parros, who tore his knee up in camp '80, and then became a starter in 1981.

The Shannon Sharpe #81 thing is funny, because when he was a rookie, Ricky Nattiel was wearing #84, so Shannon settled for #81 in his first two seasons. Once Nattiel was gone after the 91 season, Shannon quickly grabbed #84 as his own.

After Nattiel went to Tampa in 1992, he was cut, and then resigned by the Broncos prior to a 1992 week 4 game at Cleveland.

I was at that 1992 game with my fiancee, now my wife, actually we got engaged in Cleveland 2 days before (long story).

I'm not exactly sure what the list of players is about. Certainly not all were Broncos greats. Reuben Droughns shouldn't be on there...neither should guys like Ekuban or Nick Ferguson, or Karlis.

If John Lynch is included on a Broncos best list then a guy like Neil Smith definitely should be there as well.

There were a lot of guys left off...Sammy Winder and Keith Bishop deserve some recognition.

All in all it was a weird grouping of players.

NEW TRIVIA:

Q: Which player pictured, of all those above, is least deserving of inclusion?

A: EBENEZER EKUBAN (John Lynch has played three years to Ekuban's two, and is a defensive captain)

_________

Q: Which player was omitted from the pics above that should be in there?

A: RILEY ODOMS (Partial credit for BOB SWENSON, MARK SCHLERETH, ALFRED WILLIAMS, BARNEY CHAVOUS, or thanks to Pendejo, KEITH BISHOP.) (Winder is in there, though). One-quarter credit for PAUL HOWARD. (Neil Smith played just 2 years to Williams' 4, plus Alfred was All-Pro. Besides, Neil Smith is Crayon Red x 2: both a Chef and Husker - which disqualifies him outright ;D).

I'm a disinformation specialist.

1 - What assistant coach nearly whipped Ted Gregory (http://www.databasefootball.com/players/playerpage.htm?ilkid=GREGOTED01)'s spoiled punk ass right on the practice field his rookie training camp, essentially forcing us to trade him before he played a snap.

2 - To which team did we trade him?

Jason Elam's 63 yard FG is the longest in Bronco Club History. The second longest is 57 yards kicked against the Washington Redskins. Who did it?

Freddie Steinfort!!! A Freddie Steinfort mention!! It was a MNF game that featured Art Monk's first ever TD reception, and a great late 70 yard TD drive capped off by a Morton TD bomb to Upchurch.

Steinfort was Pro Football Weekly's "Golden Toe" award winner for 1980.

He was great in 1980 and embarrassing in 1981. Rich Karlis got the job in camp '82, after Freddie mangled more kicks.

I have that whole preseason on tape including all of the Dan Reeves Shows. A very interesting summer. Deberg vs Morton, Steinfort vs Karlis, new starter Dennis Smith, Bob Swenson's holdout, etc. Aaron Kyle was also getting more face time than ever, as he was voted Union Player Rep for the Broncos. It was felt he handled his camera time poorly, and he wore out some fans.

TIME'S UP!

It was kind of a goofy question, but:

In 1974 or 75, with just 20 seconds left in the season opener vs. Houston (must've been a home game, cause I listened on radio), Billy Van Heusen took the snap for a punt and held the ball - just trying to run out the clock. But the Oilers showed little interest in rushing him, so he started running, and ended up going about 70 yards for the TD as time expired.

That week he was the 3rd leading rusher in the AFC.
