The guy was a lead-balloon of a joke as a leader from day one, and the joke keeps resulting in stunned, embarrassed, and disgusted silence over, and over, and over . . . .

Bush is a well educated man, he just isn't a very effective public speaker...sometimes. He has delivered some uplifting speaches in his term that have lterally drawn goosebumps from captivated audiances and before you start responding asking "what speaches?" remember ground Zero on 9/12/2001? Or "we shall not falter, we shall not fail..."

I remember some things...

Before Mr. Bush was elected, he said nation-building was wrong for America.

Now he says it is vital.

He said he would never put U.S. troops under foreign control.

Last night he promised to embed them in Iraqi units.

He told us about WMD.

Mobile labs.

Secret sources.

Aluminum tubes.

Yellow-cake.
He has told us the war is necessary:

Because Saddam was a material threat.

Because of 9/11.

Because of Osama Bin Laden. Al-Qaida. Terrorism in general.

To liberate Iraq. To spread freedom. To spread Democracy. To prevent terrorism by gas price increases.
Because this was a guy who tried to kill his dad.

Because — 439 words in to the speech last night — he trotted out 9/11 again.

In advocating and prosecuting this war he passed on a chance to get Abu Musab Al-Zarqawi.

To get Muqtada Al-Sadr. To get Bin Laden.

He sent in fewer troops than the generals told him to. He ordered the Iraqi army disbanded and the Iraqi government “de-Baathified.”

He short-changed Iraqi training. He neglected to plan for widespread looting. He did not anticipate sectarian violence.

He sent in troops without life-saving equipment. He gave jobs to foreign contractors, and not Iraqis. He staffed U.S. positions there, based on partisanship, not professionalism.

He and his government told us: America had prevailed, mission accomplished, the resistance was in its last throes.

He has insisted more troops were not necessary. He has now insisted more troops are necessary.

He has insisted it’s up to the generals, and then removed some of the generals who said more troops would not be necessary.

He has trumpeted the turning points:

The fall of Baghdad, the death of Uday and Qusay, the capture of Saddam. A provisional government, a charter, a constitution, the trial of Saddam. Elections, purple fingers, another government, the death of Saddam.

He has assured us: We would be greeted as liberators — with flowers;

As they stood up, we would stand down. We would stay the course; we were never about “stay the course.”

We would never have to go door-to-door in Baghdad. And, last night, that to gain Iraqis’ trust, we would go door-to-door in Baghdad.

He told us the enemy was al-Qaida, foreign fighters, terrorists, Baathists, and now Iran and Syria.

He told us the war would pay for itself. It would cost $1.7 billion. $100 billion. $400 billion. Half a trillion. Last night’s speech alone cost another $6 billion.

I am moderate..right of center. I agree with much of what freak has posted, but I also think that it's not so much the man, but his administration. It's not like the things he's done is out of spite...but he geniunely believs he's doing the right thing.

I voteed for Gore in 2000...I like what the man had to say...in 04 I voted for Bush because John Kerry wasn't a real option. In that regard I blame the democrats as much as Bush. We should have some good choices come 08, but at the onset there is no democratic candidate that I would vote for. Hillary, Obama, and Edwards are all ****ty choices IMO...McCain and Romney are my choices thus far...but that can always change.

He failed to respond on at least four occasions when we were attacked by Islamic fanatics. He virtually invited OBL to attack on our soil when he failed to be proactive after the first WTC attack. But then leadership was not one of his strong points.

I no longer have the access, but in the recent past I had the access to read the reports that many in congress read. Nowadays it's tough to deal with being an american as it is and if I don't stand by what our elected leader says than what am I to do? We can't march on DC and coup de tat. The election is coming soon and I really do think that it will swing the other. So long as it's not Hillary. Ever heard of 9/11, of course, because as I said the same level of chatter was present months prior and CIA officials met with Condi and told her that this was the highest chatter since that last planned attack. Bush received seperate from that, memos pointing to islamic fundies learning to fly planes down south. Guess what they did about all that?

funny thing is that things aren't that bad in America right now. Gas prices are low and unemployment is also. The National Gaurd to the border has worked. As far as the war goes it's messy but Bush basically kicked the hell out of saddam and killed his sons. I wouldn't call that a loss in the historical sense. In the meantime it doesn't look like a victory. I don't think Bush can do much to improve his rating at this point. What you have missed is the fact that to placate you I have done a WMD search on Google and gave you the first page and a half of links. I have not read a single one of them.

As for the sarin gas. The fact that is was there tends to indicate there was a presence.

Think about the planes you mentioned, if they buried planes how easy would it have been to bury the sarin as well as any other types of WMD's? Not saying that they war buried, but the possibility exists.
