I think they said he was injured, didn't specify though.

Here's the friggin story. What a crock - they don't even say what Al's injury is.

Ray Lewis is going to the Pro Bowl, after all.

The Baltimore Ravens' middle linebacker earned an eighth trip to Hawaii, replacing injured linebacker Al Wilson of the Denver Broncos on the AFC squad. Lewis was named a first alternate last month.

Lewis led the Ravens' top-ranked defense with 164 tackles, the ninth time in his 11-year career he finished as Baltimore's leading tackler. He also had five sacks and two interceptions.

Lewis is the sixth member of the Ravens to be named to the Pro Bowl. Safety Ed Reed, offensive tackle Jonathan Ogden and outside linebacker Adalius Thomas were picked to be starters. Linebacker Terrell Suggs and cornerback Chris McAlister will head to Hawaii as reserves.

"It's always a privilege to be voted in to the Pro Bowl, especially when your peers have a voice," Lewis said in a statement. "I think this recognizes what great team defense we played this year with myself, Adalius, Chris, Terrell and Ed representing our team and our city in Hawaii."

Baltimore finished 13-3 before losing to Indianapolis in the second round of the playoffs. Some of the Ravens were stunned last month when Lewis wasn't named to the Pro Bowl.

Lewis started in 14 games during the regular season, missing two with a back injury. He was credited with 23 tackles -- 13 solo -- in the 15-6 playoff loss to the Colts.

I dont think replacement pro bowlers should be considered pro bowlers of record. I mean when jake made it what was he the fifth qb? there's only 16 teams to choose from, thats almost 1/3 teams having a "pro bowl" qb.

I just read that it's his back.

Not his back, surgery on his thumb, again:

http://www.denverpost.com/ci_5077948

Broncos middle linebacker Al Wilson has withdrawn from playing in next month's Pro Bowl because of thumb surgery on his right hand, the team said today.

Wilson will be replaced in the game by Baltimore middle linebacker Ray Lewis. Wilson had the surgery recently and is expected to be fine for the Broncos' minicamp sessions. Wilson broke the thumb on his right hand Oct. 22 at Cleveland and played the rest of the season with the injury. It is the second straight offseason Wilson needed surgery to repair the thumb.

"I have a hard time hitchhiking later in life," Wilson joked toward the end of the 2006 season when acknowledging he'd need surgery again.

Wilson was named to the Pro Bowl along with Denver cornerback Champ Bailey and safety John Lynch .. Bailey and Lynch are still scheduled to play in the game

We missed Al really badly against San Francisco in week 17.

Good, hopefully Champ and Lynch will skip the stupid game as well. Remember when Gus was a "Pro Bowler" for the Redskins when the first three picks bailed out? Total joke.

A back injury is no joke. We need to draft some warriors at LB position later in the draft. No knock on Al but we need some depth of talent.

What does it matter really? The Pro Bowl is a joke. Besides, why risk injury in a totally meaningless game?

I remember Elway excusing himself from playing in Pro Bowl games.

Good for Al.

Ray Ray sucks. Murdering Thug.
