I dont think we will get Marshawn Lynch especially with our Dline needs and I dont want him either with our Dline needs!
Which RB in the second round do you think would be the most productive for us?
Antonia Pittman-good but not rly the big back you want
Micheal Bush- big!
Kenny Irons- idk much about him...tell me more about him
P.S- I am VERY sry about posting this with only like 70 posts but I just wanted this to be out there with all those Lynch threads and posts that are killing me!
You all good with this:thumbsup:

If Bush drops to the 2nd round..... not likely.... Id take him in a heartbeat.
But even better Id get Mike Bell to add a little more weight and give him more carries after a full offseason with the offense.
Irons on the 2nd day would be nice as well.

Bush I think would be a good fit but personally I don't think denver needs to spend an early pick on a back. 3rd round or later.
I like Tony Hunt's physicality and size right now over just about everybody. AP is a pipedream but he looks very good.
I'm not in love with Lynch after watching him play a bunch of games. He has great talent but I think his manerisms on the field really annoy me. Too much like Tatum Bell... almost eager to come off the field sometimes. I want somebody who is going to fight to stay on the field.
I'm interested in slashers like L. Booker from FSU and Garrett Wolfe late in the draft if we can grab them.

BPC,
You and I know that for the offense to run smoothly, we need a back that keeps defenses honest by making them honor the run. A back that can average 3-5 yards each time he runs the ball. Someone that converts the
3rd & short.
Tony Hunt is the bruiser we require IMO. Would it be nice if he had the speed to take it to the house? Sure, but I'm more than ready to add a plugger like Hunt. And if we're lucky, we won't have to use our 1st rounder to get him.

living in ohio i got to see a lot of pittman, and he would be very much like mike bell just with a little less powera and more speed, so if we want another mike bell then draft pittman, what we need to do is wait for chris "beanie" wells

That's a tough one. I like Lynch and hope we get him. But at the same time, the 1st round pick should be used elsewhere. I do like Darius Walker out of ND also. So if the Broncos decide to pass on Lynch and go for other needs, I would hope they take a look @ Walker in the 2nd round.

I haven't seen Lynch enough to develop a man crush and I really like Bush in the second. I'm hoping we can draft a nop notch Safety and DT and escape with an exciting back like Bush to put behind Cutler.

"We've got Bush!" ~ Booger (1984) Revenge of the Nerds.
Shanny will find a way to get him.
Depends on the pick it costs us.
Peterson and Lynch are the only backs I'd take in the first round.
Mike Bush is the only one I'd take at #53.
#70, the door opens wide up and I'd consider Tony Hunt, Brandon Jackson, and even Kenny Irons. Brian Leonard would get a long look if he's left too.
At #85 Kolby Smith comes up big on my radar. Darius Walker is an option too, but not quite what I'd be looking for. Pittman is in the same spot as Walker for me.
On the second day Garrett Wolfe, Lorenzo Booker, and Alvin Banks are guys I like. Corey Anderson is my favorite for a fullback.

I figure I will give my two cents worth on Kenny Irons since I'm a lifelong Auburn fan.
First off, Irons has great vision and is a damn good cut-back runner. He is quick through the hole and even though it seems he is a speedster, he is quicker than being a true speed merchant.
He is athletic and is a much improved blocker than when he started at Auburn in 05, Running backs coach Eddie Gran didn't let him play until the second game of the 2005 season because his blocking was sub par. But as time went on and Irons became more dedicated to blocking, his stock soared in the coaches eyes. He has good recognition on picking up blitzers and will deliver a blow.
More on his running, Irons is explosive given open space, if he sees an crease or opening, he will run right through it. He does need to improve his pass catching but in fairness to him, he does have decent hands but he needs to improve his route running a little.
But he was injury proned this past year as he dealt with a turf toe and knee problems. He was never fully healthy the entire year after getting pretty knicked up in the season opening victory over Washington State.
He won't run over people and his 40 time may be timed slow (but he has good vision).
If he wasn't injured this year, AU's offense would've been better than it was.
He will be likely a second or third round pick. The notion that he will be a second day pick is WRONG.
He has a good attitude and works hard. He doesn't mind sharing the load either as he did that this year w/ Brad Lester.
If he has a good Senior Bowl week, which last I read, he's off to a good start, he's a lock to go in the second or third rounds.

You nailed it-Lynch is another tatum clone ( with an attitude) and Irons looks like he weighs less than an 6th grade girl.
I read on another post that Leonard needs to bulk up as well.
Bush will go at the top of the 2nd most likely so we need to concentrate on getting more picks to get him or go with Hunt.
This is the question that i keep thinking about when i see a RB list. Are any of these guys that are projected to go in the 3rd or 4th really any better or more talented than Nash or Cobbs? Are we wasting draft picks by picking up another RB in the later rounds when the Broncos could be focusing on more pressing needs?

I know this is an old thread, but I didn't want to start a new one. Basically I want to know what the thoughts are on Brian Leonard from Rutgers? I didn't watch enough of the games he played in to see how good he plays on a play-in-play-out basis, but the games that I have seen enough to know that he's got the versatility and right attitude to succeed in the NFL if given the opportunity. I think his fullback experience demonstrates his toughness and some of the videos I've seen of his training make him seem incredibly agile and quick for his size. But the video can deceive, so I'm wondering how you guys think he'd fit in our system? Assuming we keep Tatum, I'd feel real good heading in to the next season witih a backfield roster composed of T. Bell, M.Bell, B. Leonard, C. Sapp, and K. Johnson. What are your thoughts?

There is a lot of Leonard love on this board.
Id take him in the 2nd round if Bush is gone.
I think he can be real good, and he is a guy you can leave in there on all 3 downs. Very athletic, and strong, i think he will be real good.

Bush was on the radio with Big Hair(Mel) today - said he wasn't running or doing drills at the combine- just the weigh in (was at 264 now is down to 246 wants to be at 240) and interview. Would attempt to run a 40 at pro day maybe. When pressed by Mel and Andy Katz (??) Bush said he might be ready April, June or July time frame for football action.

On this subject I see the competition for next year running back slot as Tatum Bell, Mike Bell, Ronnie McGill (rookie) and Cobbs.
People on the mane will scream but in the end the Front Office waits til years draft for the elite running back.

Guys I really think that we souldnt go early on rb this year. I would love to see us trade a pick or plumber for a first next year. I would then like to see something like what we did to get cutler only the target would be none other than:
#5 Darren McFadden | RB Arkansas
YEAR ATT YDS AVG LNG TD REC YDS AVG LNG TD FUM LST
2005 176 1113 6.3 70 11 14 52 3.7 12 0 0 0
2006 284 1647 5.8 80 14 11 149 13.5 70 1 0 0
I would love this guy in orange n blue the only knock I see against him is his hands but it is something he could work on.

Tony Hunt, or the Walker kid from Notre Dame.
But Hunt is a big back from Penn State ... not a great tradition overall, with John Capaletti, Curtis Enis, DJ Dozier, Ki-Jana Carter, Blair Thomas, and L-Cancer- Johnson. Other than Franco Harris, Johnson's their only decent back, and he's a cancer.

I agree, Denver has a lot of young talented backs why blow your wad a 1st round back when you really don't know what you have. Take a RB in the 4th or later. Denver has proven there are plenty of good backs late in the draft.
i'll definitely go along with trading something for a first next year....would be great to have two next year and target that bigtime RB we need

I think Pittman because like TD he has that quick brust through the hole plus he has a extra gear in open feild and has that cut to the outside to pickup big gains. I have not seen any u-tube videos on Bush but he could be good a good pick also.

Yeah, I understand not wanting to go too early on a RB, which is why Pittman and Leonard seem to be viable options. Right? I mean, I know that Leonard has been getting more press recently, but I thought he's at best still considered a 2nd or 3rd round prospect. Has there been more of a push to indicate that he could go early?

Pitman is fairly underrated but I am not sure I want to see us use a first day pick on him. unless we pick up something from Plumber/TBell/Foster I dont want to use one of our first day picks on a RB. Next year I am all for it, but this year seems loaded with the Quinten Griffen types good at some things deficiant at others.

I want Michael Griffin at S in round 1, but would be very cool w/ obtaining Lynch.
Otherwise, of the aforementioned options I like Pittman. he can add 5-10 lbs and still be a blazer. He stays healthy too.
The guy I REALLY want, and am shocked noone has mentioned, is GARY RUSSELL of Minnesota. He split carries w/ maroney and was a bastard. He didn't play last year, i think due to academics, but dude can tote the rock. Best of all, he can prolly be had late in the 2nd or early in the 3rd.

Guy is also supposedly overweight now. See the Texas vs Nation thread in the draft section. I am worried about any player that doesn't have the discipline to keep himself in school especial with the support structure you get in DIV I college program. What happen when he get a little money and no support structure in the pro's???

He plans to lose 5-10 lbs for the combine. Scholastic issues aside, not going thru the grind on a daily basis for a year is gonna help ya add a few. Get him back into the groove and show him wher they endzone is. He'll be in fine shape for the season. He was apparently never a great student. Some guys just aren't made for the classroom. If he was a QB, I'd be worried...but he's not.
