does the AFC and NFC champsion game alternate every year and how come some years the superbowl are the week after the conference games and sometimes 2 weeks, aside from the NFL trying to hype it up and make money and give moe time for companies to buy commerials

CBS and FOX alternate every year so each network gets a piece of prime time with the late game.
2006
FOX early game: Bears vs. Saints
CBS late game: Colts vs. Patriots
2005
CBS early game: Broncos vs. Steelers
FOX late game: Seahawks vs. Panthers
2004
FOX early game: Eagles vs. Falcons
CBS late game: Steelers vs. Patriots
2003
CBS early game: Patriots vs. Colts
FOX late game: Eagles vs. Panthers
2002
FOX early game: Eagles vs. Buccaneers
CBS late game: Raiders vs. Titans
2001
CBS early game: Steelers vs. Patriots
FOX late game: Rams vs. Eagles
2000
FOX early game: Giants vs. Vikings
CBS late game: Raiders vs. Ravens
1999
CBS early game: Jaguars vs. Titans
FOX late game: Rams vs. Buccaneers
1998
FOX early game: Vikings vs. Falcons
CBS late game: Broncos vs. Jets

i wish the broncos would of has primetime last year, it looks like they were still asleep in the mourningI was thinking of that the other day. Home games in Denver are never before 2 PM MST. The AFC Championship game last year started at 12 noon MST. I don't think it helped Denver's cause to have the game start at such an unusual time.
That said, we got our asses handed to us by Pittsburgh on both offense and defense and probably would have lost even if Carolina/Seattle was the early game instead.
