So much for not needing good wide receivers. You wonder what Javon Walker would have done for them. He was just too expensive for Pats cheap ass owner.
Yeah, Reche Caldwell will certainly get the "Jeremy Stevens Goat Award" for the '06 season. Basically 2 dropped TDs (1 for certain) in a game decided by 4 points. Yikes.
They did draft Chad Jackson to address the WR issue....most thought he had more upside over Santonio Holmes or Sinorice Moss) in last years draft (although last year was a thin WR class and Jackson did very little this year).
The Pats have a winning system and have put together an incredible "budget" team but, IMO you are correct in saying that eventually it has to catch up with them
Would Javon have dropped both those TDs? Doubtful.

Their seemed to be alot of drops in open space by NE wide receivers. I'll admit I enjoyed just a little bit, watching NE receivers play poorly. NE has been able to plug people in for years and be somewhat successful, I think it has alot to do with their system, head coach and help from the worst division in football. Kraft has let so much talent leave that team over the years and recently at WR he has let Branch and Givens go. They have Jackson and 2 first round picks next year so I'm sure they'll be okay. I know that their kicker has performed well this year, but if I'm a fan of that team I would have been really pi**ed at Kraft when he let Vinatieri go. That was one player who really deserved his money. I was hoping NE would have lost at the end by a field goal.

Blame Robert Kraft for what? Winning 3 out of the last 6 Super Bowls? There is a salary cap that all teams must be under. Remember the Pats before he took ownership?

IMHO it is more Billycheck then the owner. I think his head now believes the "He can win with anyone"

You're right, Belichick has full control of the team. I still don't think you can blame him when you take all of his successes into consideration. He's not Dan Reeves or Marty.

Yeah, hard to "blame" someone with 3 rings.
I think Kraft would do anything that Billycheck asked him to do. ANYTHING.

Deion Branch plays and they win that game. I think the Colts have beat them three games in a row now so I don't think they can say they own the Colts anymore.

I agree about Branch. He and Bratty work well together.

The only reason they won 3 superbowls is they scored a huge player in Tom Brady. It's not the budget style that makes them good. It's Tom Brady period.

And making the AFC championship game this year. Only to lose by 4 points.
What I want to know is the loss of Weiss, Crennel, and Mangini going to affect this team now and in the future. I think it has already. The Patriots just don't look the same on both sides of the ball when they won their SB's.

They are 10 mill or so under the cap and they don't sign Branch or Vinitieri? LOL!

Bingo! I also think the Pats began to believe the media hype and their "God given right to win".

This is kind of like the bagging on Manning thread. The Patriots do more with less than any other team in the NFL. I wish Denver could find a way to keep some cap money and contend every year.

Blow it up...blow it all up. They didn't win every single Super Bowl. Time to rebuild.

And don't look now...... but the Patsies have 2 first round picks in this years draft! Both in the low twenties!

Or maybe they just went out and played a game of football and lost?

Perhaps their luck ran out but to get to the AFCCG with the crew they had to work with is pretty stellar. I have a feeling had the Pats had the homefield they would have won last night. Hell, Brady the last few weeks even made Gaffney look like a allpro.

He always has them, I seem to remember it's something genetic or whatever, there was a story about it sometime ago. That looks creepy ;D

I can't believe what I'm reading on this thread…..If it wasn't for Reche's play last week (and the last half of the season), the Pats don't even advance to this week's game. He played an incredible game last week and obviously just had an off day yesterday (which ALL receivers have), but he is hardly the only reason the Pats lost the game.
Did anyone see the Pats defense in the 2nd half? They had I think one stop the entire half. They gave up over 30 pts and 4 TD drives of around 80 yards in the second half. Where was that # 2 defense when they were needed most?
And to those that think Javon or Deion Branch would've made a difference yesterday, I'm not so sure. Few outside the area know this, but Deion has had quite a few games where he has shown bouts of the dropsies, and Javon has done the same this season. No receiver is immune.

Patriots shouldn't have even been in this game save the Chargers giving it to them.

Yeah run him out of town for playing in another AFC title game and having the nerve to lose one. They're still at the top of the NFL's food chain.
LOL...some of you goofballs crack me up.
