San Diego: The Chargers are being laughed at in many circles as they continue to complain about how the Pats celebrated too much after beating them in the divisional playoffs last week in San Diego.
The Patriots won and deserved to celebrate. The Chargers lost and need to deal with it. Several Patriots mocked San Diego linebacker Shawne Merriman's "Lights Out" dance after the victory.
San Diego linebacker Shaun Phillips said some of the Patriots yelled the phrase in the hallway on their way to the victorious locker room. A few New England linebackers were heard yelling the phrase and laughing in the locker room after the game.
So what? The Chargers have to remember opposing teams had to deal with Merriman performing the dance all season, as he did last Sunday when he was introduced. In at least one game this season, opposing offensive players said many Chargers defenders barked at them during the game. It's silly for the Chargers to complain.

Nice article.Uhh Not one actual quote from a Charger "complaining."
Im so sick of people saying the Chargers KEEP complaining. The only quotes complaining about the Patriots were from LT. He was ASKED why he was mad after the game and told them why. He was then ASKED on the following Monday if he still felt the same way or if it was just the heat of the game. He said he still felt the same way.
Funny how the media complains that athletes hold back and give them no quotes. I wonder why. A guy is honest and they get blasted.

I didn't see where they singled out LT personally in the article. You mentioned that no other Charger player was quoted. However, Shaun Phillips was mentioned in the article, complaining about the players in the tunnel.
It's interesting you mention LT "still feeling the same way" after having time to think about it. He doesn't mention the dance/signature move he performs after a TD. I personally thought he showed a lack of class, until he told the nation how much class he had. I then realized I must have been mistaken.

I find it amusing BigBad's signature is mocking Denver and some of the Chargers players / fans are upset with the "Lights Out" mockery. It's part of the game. Use it next year to motivate your team to carry them into another #1 seed and a more acceptable outcome into the AFC title game.
I will enjoy the matchup today because I don't have a favorite to win the game. I will be watching this game cheering on both the offense and defense at the same time.

I loved that. Someone had the audacity to reference the fact that the "Media God" might not be the class act the media has made him out to be.
Unfortunately for LT it put a slight tarnish on his image as well. As unuse as SD is to winning the big ones they also don't have much experience at losing the big ones either

My nephew was more mature in college. During University of Colorado's two National Championship runs they had the one word rallying cry of BELIEVE.
One Saturday afternoon they get their butts whipped and the opposing team is mocking them and yelling it going into the locker rooms.
Some UNC guy goes nuts and starts screaming and punching on stuff. My nephew grabs him, sits him on the bench and says if you don't want to hear that, play better. Right now you sit and listen to it. Next week everyone comes to play and nobody hears it.

You might say there are getting both ends of the media spectrum and you are correct (they don't like it) i would love to be a fly on the wall when marty was firing up the troops for games. When they lost in such a bad way (that) martyism came up to the front and reared it's ugly head. So when LT says the pattys team actions come through the head coach he can look in the mirror because his actions and his teams came right from marty. Remember the cheaps in the 90s? interesting hmmmmmmm?

How would it look if a QB did a dance taunting the DB every time he threw a completion?

Yeah but you're talking about two different things here.
It's good that teams get mad at losing. I agree with that point. If you lose, you should be pissed. You should expect to win every week.
It's a whole different thing to be pissed off because a team did a little dance.
Being pissed off because your own guy did his gay little dance all year and then a team threw it back in your face, that's lame. LT and the Chargers should just be pissed off at losing, period.

Why is this still being debated? It's old news and Charger players are not talking about this anymore. Also, that was a poorly written article. It's taking things out of context.
Charger players were not upset with the fact that the Patriots did the "lights out" dance. They were more upset with the timing and location of the dance, which they felt was taunting the entire team and orginization. If they were so pissed off with just the mocking of the dance, why didn't they badmouth Joey Porter, Chad Johnson and some other players from earlier this year?
You wouldn't get that impression from reading that article though. And I don't know why this guy is writing this now. He's about a week slow on his reporting.

I don't see where all the cockiness is coming from, Denver fans. The Chargers went 14-2 and blew it in the post season. Nobody is getting a cocky attitude towards San Diego. Matter of fact that doesn't even make sense. Methinks it has more to do with being a tad on the defensive side. The thread started with an article. Read it. Agree with it or not.
But it is helpful to say "You Lost Too". If it makes you feel better. But then the Broncos weren't sitting on a 14-2 season or copywriting sack dances were they? And they aren't whining about the loss to the 9er's are they? And they didn't do anything before, during or after the game the 9er's felt they had to mock did they?

Cocky is:
Merriman getting up on a stage the day before the game and telling his adoring fans.....who are chanting 'Brady sucks'....that he will hit Brady in the mouth.
Get upset at your teams poor play at home, after a bye.
A little payback was due after all the adolecent sack dancing Merriman inflicted on the league.

LT said those things out of emotion and sometimes, we say things we dont mean when we are emotional. In his mind, he was protecting his teammate.
What I have a problem with is not LT, its the Roid-Rager he stood up for.
He can do his stupid spasmic dances and then talk trash about how he's going to sock Brady in the mouth but when the other team wins on their field, they are merely mocking his dance, the Chargers and most of their fans get offended.

There's not many seasons when a team is clearly the best in the NFL (like the Chargers were this year) -- San Diego absolutely blew a great chance at their first Super Bowl title. They way you lost, too, makes it tough, what with multiple players making stupid mistakes in the second half. It's one thing to get beat by a team that outplays you, it's another to make one monumental blunder after another and beat yourself.
The Chargers will be good again next year, but will they have everything set up for them perfectly like in 2006? Indianapolis was in a similar situation in 2005 and came back from their own choke to make a great run in '06. I don't think Marty and company will be as resiliant as the Colts were; the Chargers are just not well coached enough and have too many stupid football players.

Yeah, well, I suppose LT might not have been quite so irate over the loss if he had only managed... oh, say 32 yards in 13 tries for the game. But when a single player has racked up 180+ all-purpose yards and his team still loses, a tiny bit of frustration is understandable and forgivable.
That said, Roid Boy invited mockery when he invented his stupid sack dance and routinely performed it throughout the season. If performing a celebration dance is acceptable behavior for Merriman, then who is he... or LT2... to say it's unacceptable for others? It's a double standard and the epitome of hypocrisy.

BTW - Baltimore too. After their loss to us on MNF, Billick fired Fassel and started calling the plays. From that moment, they mightta been even better than SD. I just can't understand how the two best teams in the league both lost - AT HOME - after a week to rest and prepare. I don't know how the f Slap had the Colts figured ... he took them straight up with the odds - in Baltimore ...
Go figure.

Good for him! That's the way it should be.
Agreed to a point. HOWEVER, a lack of class is what it is, a lack of class. The behavior of the patriots showed a major lack of class. The art of winning, with class, has gone by the wayside unfortunately. Complaining about what the patriots did is futile, they won, they get to show how truly classless they really are. At least our society's belief's presently seem to support them making a$$es of themselves at the expense of the chargers. My spin, acceptable behavior, absolutely not. But, we as a country, especially alot the younger folks either never learned or traded in their class for whatever. Really sad to see how detrimental behavior is accepted and is being taught to the youth of the country. My son tries that crap on the field of play, I'd have words with him in short order. You just don't embarass yourself and your team that way..dman

Everytime Merriman does that stupid f@cking dance after every tackle is a lack of class. I think it's nice that it's shoved back into his face.
What's even better is that Charger fan is still whining about it. I guess crying about that takes the sting out of getting owned once again in the playoffs.

Johnson is known for flashing "The Roc" symbol also known as the "Diamond Cutter" whenever he scores a rushing touchdown. Recently Johnson signed a contract with the Team Roc clothing line founded by Jay-Z.
Too bad all players aren't classy enough to just shamelessly promote their endorsement deals.

Notwithstanding all the vinegar and pi$$ evidenced on this thread, I would observe that the Pats have lost some of the glitter of being "Media Darlings". Also, I think the Chuggers lost a bit of that glitter, too, and the media will be looking for a new "darling" before long. It will not be anyone from the mullets' team; whoever could get excited about anything or anyone from Kansas City, for cris' sakes? I would bet that the next "darling" will be from the East. The AFCS has gotten tighter, and I think the Dolts will have some challenges to repeat next year.

It wasn't hard at all. What's even funnier logic and even less obtuse (when two things have a direct correlation, they aren't all that hard to connect) is to condemn one celebration but remain strangely quite on another. Of course LJ blatantly pimping himself out like that isn't something one probably wants to discuss. Embarrasing situation. What's next? Endorsing Pampers?

I have no problem with the SD celebration. Don't get me wrong. I don't like it. But I have no objection to it happening. What I do object too is turning around and crying foul when it blows up in your face.

So the Chargers and Chiefs know how to intimidate everyone with their celebrations. And how many rings do they have to show for all this intimidation. I rest my case. Dante does that X factor thing and now the Chiefs say he is a liability on punt returns because he has no discipline and they really don't want him on the team anymore. Huh, I'm starting to respect Herm Edwards cause he knows what a self centered loser Dante really is.

OK, in the present, only the Bears and Colts are "close to" the SB. The Chefs are also-rans along with the other 29 teams in the league who are not the Colts or Bears.
So are we reduced to talking about the Chefs' greatness back in the 60's when Len Dawson was still playing? Heck, TrINT Green is pretty old by NFL standards... but he isn't old enough to remember the Cheffies' SB win (he wasn't born until July of '70)

I could base it on the fact the Broncos couldn't beat anyone by seasons end.

OK, in the present, only the Bears and Colts are "close to" the SB. The Chefs are also-rans along with the other 29 teams in the league who are not the Colts or Bears.
So are we reduced to talking about the Chefs' greatness back in the 60's when Len Dawson was still playing? Heck, TrINT Green is pretty old by NFL standards... but he isn't old enough to remember the Cheffies' SB win (he wasn't born until July of '70)
I only used the old Chiefs as an example of your using the old Donks. I think you might be getting it.
Now if only you understood how pathetic the Broncos were by seasons end.

I saw the Chiefs in the Superbowl. On a19 inch black and white TV.
They are cursed by color TV.

Now if only you could forget the past Bronco seasons as fast as you have forgotten this one.....you wouldn't come off as so ridiculous.
By the way......will you be catching "this years" Superbowl?
Your negotiating skills are really starting to erode.
Why dont you just pretend you know what I'm talking about and get yourself a cat.
Of course you might gain a modicum of credibility if you had any evidence in this thread of me remotely bringing up past Bronco seasons.
Of course I will watch the 2006 season Super Bowl being played in 2007.
I'm not involved in any type of negotiations.
I know exactly what you are talking about which makes it fairly easy to expose your simplistic tactics.
I wouldn't mind having a cat but the two dogs I have are enough in the pet department for now.

Simple tactics tend to draw the ______ people. Negotiation may have been too big a word. Credibility isn't my goal here. That is as useless here as a comb to a bald man.

Good thing you aren't looking for credibillity. Negotiation isn't a big word. It was a word used out of context.

Every time we meet, it's a negotiation. Even if it's a negotiation that we aren't negotiating.
You're one of my favorites.

Pathetic, eh? Last time I looked, the Broncos were not the team that managed to muster a whopping 125 net yards of offense against the Colts while giving up more than three times that number.

Your smack wouldn't ring so hollow, had your team made the playoffs at all.:strong:
Yes, the Broncos finish was pathetic.

It's not "smack", Crazyhorse. It's fact. Your Chefs may have made the playoffs, but the offense didn't bother to make the trip to Indy. Their minds were already on golf and it showed.

Well, yeah... everyone who watched that game knows the Chefs' offense mailed it in. I'm not so sure the Fade wouldn't have put up more of a fight than the Chefs did.

We find some solice in knowing that at least we are closer to the SB than the Broncos.
I also believe the Chiefs are closer to the Superbowl than Denver. Think about it...the Superbowl is in Miami...Kansas City is substantially closer than Denver. Duh.

Yeah, you guys sure made a showing of it, huh? 32 yards on 13 carries, way to go LJ.

It looks like horse face is trying to pick up where Bob's your skirt wearing panzy left off - arguing with the locals and turning every thread into a 10 page moron-a-thon. Well done, well done. Every bridge needs its troll, every sunny day its cloud, and I guess the Mane needs you. Thanx for filling the void.

When you call me horse face, I cant help but feel offended. I'm much better looking than John Elway.

Also much poorer, less respected, with most likely uglier women surrounding you, worse kids, if you have any, and of course, he has two super bowl rings.
But you're better looking, so you have that to hang your hat on.

Yeah....that, and I'm not an alcoholic. I have too much "self respect".
As for my wife, she is beautiful and my son is a good man.
