While I think the center of the oline is in good shape with the potential young talent there, it looks a little bleak on the tackle spots. Since Denver hasn't address this position in the draft the last couple of years, wonder who is out there that might fit the current Denver philosophise. Anyone that you think that fits that profile. I found this guy on the Great Blue North site
http://www.gbnreport.com/2007otprofiles.html
Doug Free, Northern Illinois… 6-6.5, 305, 5.05, SR… Free may be one of the more athletic OTs to come along in a while; indeed, Free is a former TE who actually started two games at the position as a freshman before sliding inside to OT where he has started since. Free has bulked up to around 305 pounds and has the frame to add more weight; lower legs, though, look a little on the skinny side; strong upper body; Free is a good athlete who runs well; will likely time in the low 5.0 range at pre-draft workouts this winter; moves well in space and can get well downfield to make blocks, although he doesn’t always make contact; good technician in pass protection who gets excellent arm extension and slides around pocket with ease, although he is sometimes slow to pick up blitzers

He would be a good fit for sure, though could go quite high in the draft. Chris Messner of Oklahoma could be another guy they look at who figures to go in the middle of the draft as well as Herbert Taylor of TCU.

Joe Staley

http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/images/stars/three.gif </td> <td valign="top"> Strengths:
Is an amazing athlete for the position with feet that are second to none...Timed speed, agility and quickness are outstanding...Moves well in open space and can get to the second level...Shows the ability to change direction and adjust on the fly...Good intangibles with a motor that is always running...Smart player who picks things up quickly and has shown consistent improvement...Still has lots of upside.
Weaknesses:
Is still new to the position and pretty raw...Has done a good job of bulking up but could still stand to pack on some additional pounds...Is not overly powerful at the point of attack...Has to develop more of a mean streak and a killer instinct...Needs to keep hitting those weights and continue to get stronger...Level of competition.
Notes:
Began his college career as a 220 lb. freshman tight end...Really put himself on the map when he reportedly ran a 4.70 forty at the Chippewa's Pro Day workout as a junior...Is a much better prospect than his former teammates Eric Ghiaciuc and Adam Kieft were...Could legitimately play left tackle in the NFL...Is a workout warrior with phenomenal measurables who has not yet reached his full potential.</td></tr></tbody></table>

Both sound pretty good. I think we will go LT in round 3.

I am big on Staley as I have good contacts at CMU, but I am not convinced the Broncs take an OL on the first day.
I personally like Ryan Harris out of ND for the Broncos, he played every position (mostly OT) in a pro style offense and was the primary guy Weiss had pulling or cutting. He blocks well in space and is mobile for a guy just under 300 pounds. He hasn't displayed the raw athleticism many of the climbing OT names (like Ugoh) have displayed, but I think his collegiate experience would make him a perfect fit for our OL and he could probably be had in the 3rd or 4th round.

I think they would consider it if Staley were around in the 3rd. Lepsis is no guarantee, and there isn't much depth at tackle outside of that. Foster is done in Denver. I think Pears could be a nice player on the right side, but Staley has franchise LT potential, and that comes around in the 3rd round once every 400 years or so.
You know how Shanahan loves the converted TEs.

I'd like an OT in the first round with the size and stength to push people around in the run game and still protect Cutler. Levi Brown looks like a good bet and taking a Penn State guy in the line is probably a smart choice.

I could see us taking Brown in the 1st.

Mike Otto is another player the Broncos could look at in the 3 round.Mario Henderson and Herbert Taylor have look good at east -west shine game might make good 2 day picks.
