I was forwarded by a friend of mine (who is a broncos fan) that lives in SD, the following email from a mutual Charger friend of ours. Too funny...
I don't like the fact that Charger fans are branded as bandwagoners or
fair-weather fans. Who wants to watch bad football? When the Chargers
sucked, I didn't have a lot of interest in watching, why should I. The
whole fair-weather fan thing comes from the idiots in the lesser parts
of the country, say for instance, Cleveland, where there is literally
nothing to do but eat, sleep, watch bad football, and get fat. Listen
to the game this weekend, the crowd will be in full force, and as loud
as any stadium in the country. If you want to call us fair-weather
fans, fine, we are fans, and the weather is damn fine!
So you're saying that you are a fair weather fan? Right, I got it.

Umm he just defined a fair weather fan. Someone who only watches football when his team is good. I have watched every season of Broncos football since the 1986 season. I watched before 86 but really didn't understand it until I started playing peewee football.

Funny, isn't it?
What is wrong with what your friend said.... Pretty much proves what alot of us have been saying all along :)
Chugger fan is the wheel on the band wagon, and as I see it the wheels have already begun to fall off.

I watch my teams when they do poorly because you never know. I watched every painful second of the Colts and Steelers game because I felt that in my own way, I was supporting the team. Being a fan is like marriage, you've got to be there in sickness and in health(that is the line, right?)

MP, did you reply with a "thanks for clarifying" note! So according to him we only support our team because there's nothing better to do >ROFL!
They don't deserve a winning team in SD with that attitude.

Thats the "SoCal Way"
Everything is based on a materialistic mentality.
Basically, everyone thinks there "somebody" when they are really just another "nobody".
It was the "cool" thing to root for the chuggers becuase they were supposedly good. It was the "IN" thing for a few minutes!
Everything they do is "fairweather" as long as it means that it puts them in the spotlight, however brief.
Sure, that guy will root for a winner, but a team that is struggling, no way will he be associate himself with anything that loses. There no glory in that.

I'm in San Diego on business this week... The first thing I did when I got into my hotel room was flip on the clock radio to the local sports station. Big suprise. They're slaughtering Marty and Tomlinson here. Not a word about Philip Rivers having a bad game, or Merriman disappearing. Not a word about the Chargers players making mistakes while in position to make plays. It's all Marty's fault for losing a few playoff games before he took their team to 14-2 and watched them tank.

Ya... apparently Marty was the one out there dropping all of those balls (offense AND defense really).
That was a team that loved itself WAYYYYY to much. It looked identical the Broncos team that lost in '96 to Jacksonville.

You should have him send a reply that says "instead of fair-weather, can we call you a 'front-running good time charlie'"?

Why should you? Because it will make all those years of waiting and watching that much better when your team does finally reach the zenith.
Of course, you have to reach the zenith for that to happen.

lmao!!
I am all over this town in Bronco SuperBowl Champs hat cracking up at the total lack of Chargers gear anywhere. It was all over the place, now they are all throwing it away.
This city isn't as bad as LA for fairweather fans, but pretty close. I don't blame them, there is plenty to be happy about in S.D. and other things to do. 32 degree tempertures suck though.
"San Diego is challenging whether the player was down by contact AFTER the fumble" lmfao!!!!!!!!
WOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!

Got any facts to back that up? I mean I realize San Diegans hate everything about LA but that couldn't be farther from the truth.:giggle:

LA lost not one but 2 teams. SD has yet to lose the Chokers.
